View Full Version : Atlanta Hawks at Charlotte Bobcats 2/6

Man, it seems like its been 2 weeks since we've had a Bobcats game.
Tonight should be fun. Its likely that we'll have the triumphant return of DJ Augustin who has missed the last 10 or so games with pulled abdominal muscles and we could also be getting the return of Sean May who if he had abdomen muscles to begin with, wouldn't have been sitting on the bench in a suit for the last 40 or so games... fatass!
Now that I have that out of my system, we are a full 3 games back from the #8 spot and if we are going to make up some ground then it needs to be happening expeditiously.
The Hawks have struggled some on the road with a 10-15 road and this just in... The Hawks will be without Joe Johnson tonight (http://www.ajc.com/services/content/sports/hawks/stories/2009/02/06/hawks_johnson_bobcats.html?cxtype=rss&cxsvc=7&cxcat=21). This should be a win tonight for the good guys.

Leaving work in about 40 minuts to pick up my wife and head down to TWC Arena for pregame adult beverage festivities before heading over to watch the game. Two weeks is a long time without a home game. Lets hope the team responds a lot better than ot has during the last few road game.
When i was there two weks ago for Phoenix the Cats were playing not just like a playoff team but a real contender to go past the first round. Right now they are playing like a lottery team..............
Let's go Cats (God I wish the announcer would not yell that out at the games, it's F'ing irratating)

I like the play's LB runs, There's usually at least one person open if the ply is run correctly. Morrison made his 1st shot but has still looked lost out there.

I watched Flip Murry play his last college game at Shaw. I was at the CIAA that year with Fayetteville State as a student athletic trainer. He's a beast, I thought he'd have a better NBA career but he's been a good back up... that said Death to Flip Murry and his last second 3pt shots

This was a good start for the Cats without Wallace. DJ's 1-5 but he has missed 10 games So maybe with more game time that stat line will look better. Martin is a beast off the bench and Okafor has been pretty much Superman on both ends with rebounds and points in the paint.

Our perimeter defense sucks, so our big men keep fouling the driving players. This will be a painful loss. We blew 15+ point lead and deserved this result.

This loss is not unacceptable. Such a team never deserves to be contending for the playoffs. When we catch them without their best player, go-to-guy, and lead them as many as 17, you have no reasonable explanation for losing whatsoever.

They scored 2 threes at the buzzers of 1st and 2nd quarters. It was a sign of loss of concentration to me. At the end of first half, I had a bad feeling about choking this game just like the way we did, because our players were already thinking that the game was over. I'm damn so sorry to be proved right.
We have no real go-to-guy, so we have no chance to come back after losing the momentum completely. We have to have a huge lead and protect it.

Calmed down now. Sorry for the out burst.
Shannon inbounded at half court and threw the ball into our back court..........when no one was there which obviously resulted in a turn over.
It's not like it's his fault we lost at all, I mean, the kid only played a couple of mins. It's just that he made two really bone headed plays back to back when the game was on the line and we needed to be smart.

that's all i saw. I am at Mom and Pops again this weekend and I had it on but we were all in the kitchen then my bro in law says "Hey 97-100 with 35 seconds left!" So I went in and saw in full stunning HD how horrible Shannon Brown's 2 decisions were. It's not his fault we were relying on him for that. It's not who he is. But he's all we had. I don't know why LB just decides whoever is in for Crash is the inbounder. It's either Crash or his sub in bounding the ball. Shannon comes off the bench and if he's hot plays about 15 mins and contributes however, he is not the guy down the stretch. This is not a first is it?

Thats mainly what discusts me with this team, is that when we just need 2's and have a good lead we throw 3's and miss or have the stupid turnovers, when we have a chance to tie the game or catch up the game we shoot 2's when we need 3's or more stupid turnovers....

Attended this game tonight and I thought the 3rd qtr was horse shit. The refs put the gas on the whistle (some valid, others absurd...see Okafor's blocking call), I still don't know how we scored points in that qtr. Al Horford even scored a bucket for us in the 3rd if I'm not mistaken. The Shannon Brown inbounds pass....wtf, really give your teammates a chance to catch the ball dude. Not only did he throw it away, he threw it towards the other team's basket.
I'm done w/ Adam Morrison. Waiting on him to "get it" is like waiting on Boris to fly down the lane and attempt a thunderous dunk...not happening. Am I asking for too much if I expect Adam to shoot the ball if he has a second of daylight?
I have said it once and I will say it again, DJ and Ray are very good PG's but if they are not surrounded with at least one All-Star you will never see their full potential, never.
I hope the FO is really paying attention to what Crash brings to this team. I was not the biggest Crash supporter for the last couple of years, but looking at the last couple of games his absence is clear as day. You can't trade this guy unless it's for an All-Star and that will have to be a steal (Although I think it can be done if you package him and Felton...somebody has to bite on that, right?).
Raja's out now so the beat goes on with the Bobcats.
Marvin Williams busted our ass
Mike Bibby flops too much
I didn't really notice Joe Johnson didn't play until I got home (Utah minus Boozer, AK-47, Deron Williams = loss for the Bobcats)
Maurice Evans didn't score in the 2nd half (correct me if I'm wrong)
With everything going on w/ the Bobcats I still don't think we should have lost this game.
Lastly, Diop and Mek cannot be in the game at the same time....we must have one big in the game that can catch the ball.
Oh yeah one more thing....Sean May should have played tonight, seriously.
End of rant.

Something I didnt even think about until just now, Juwan didnt play at all tonight, I guess he is hurt too?8)

Yes he did, that would have been funny if we had won...

Shannon isn't too high on the IQ meter I'm pretty sure

Just trade the two hardest working players on the team, yea thats great
Wallace and Felton are integral for our success, we need at least one of them plus Raja and a vet like Juwan...I like this team sans AmMo, Lexy, and May

Beyone inexcusable, this was pathetic...just like Utah

They were ok with a few offensive rebounds, that wasn't the problem. A lack of Gerald/Raja was

Yeah but LB is a stickler...

It sucks we totally lost this game. There was no reason too. It really blows that we get DJ back and now Raja is out. We can't catch a break!

Wow. That was unpleasant.
That was probably the worst final 1 minute of the game of the ILBIT era.
Guess I'm glad the Tivo stopped recording too early...
Helluva night from Cartier though, led the bench and frankly from now on I say he starts over Adam. Still waiting to see him above the rim though...I know he can do it, I've seen him play in the DL, but I think he's trying a bit hard to be what larry wants...that should fade a bit with a fully paid contract to the end of the season, which barring any major trade coming down the pike, should be a sure thing just about.

Hey, I hear you loud and clear but in order to get something you have to give. It has to be appealing to the other team involved. We need an offensive star if we want to sniff the playoffs. LB went to the finals with one of the best scorers in NBA history. LB won the finals with a starting 4 (everybody but Ben) who could score when called upon. We need fire power on the offensive end. I like the guys we have on the team but some trades don't feel good but we have to do something.
How about this for our luck. The Knicks just played the Lakers, Cavs, and Celtics and lost all 3. The Pacers need a star too but that's another story. The Bucks have lost Redd, Bogut, and now Ridnour. Toronto sucks for some reason and they have more trade rumors than the Bobcats on top of that CB4's free agency is making the news courtesy of Stephen A. Smith. The Nets can't separate from the crowd either. We could have made up so much ground (probably sitting in the 8th spot) if everyone was healthy. Just doesn't seem fair sometimes in Bobcat Land.

Answer this question...8th seed versus Cavs, Boston, Magic or 4th seed with a chance to make something happen? I have to look at the big picture b/c of LB's history of burnin' the road up. I definitely think we are an 8th seed healthy. But what's the fun in getting your heads blown off in the 1st round. With that said, I would take it in a heartbeat.
I don't know what it is about this loss to the Hawks but I'm tired of not having a guy that puts fear in the opposing team and gets the occassional superstar call from the ref.

His name is Gerald Wallce, you may have heard of him.

With all the punishment he takes, he doesn't get enough calls in my book. Nobody can control the respect our players receive from the refs or other teams but I don't think any team comes to Charlotte with the fear of facing anybody on our roster. Most nights we play extremely hard (I believe a carryover from the Bernie days w/ a mixture of LB's demanding style as well) and that gets thru a lot of games.
Kobe, and most guards on the whole, fear Raja...any rookie big fears Mek...and any flimsy wing fears Crash...

I think we are well respected around some parts of the league but feared, nah. I will say some may fear Raja on the defensive end. (We are in need of a 20-25 pt/gm player)
I can tell you I didn't (and don't) fear playing Tayshaun, Chauncey, Mehmet, Rip, Ben, or even Rasheed, I feared them as a unit...same with San Antonio, you dont fear Parker (except for your nuts), Ginobili, Duncan or the others, just as a whole. You don't fear Paul Pierce, Ray Allen, Rajon Rondo, (you do fear KG) but you fear them as a whole. Get my drift? We're a few small steps away from being that whole like LB had in Detriot.

Yeah, Wallace is a great player who has super star nights. However, he's not a guy who is going to get calls every night. And his shooting isn't good enough for him to make up for it if he's not getting the calls. Mind you, I LOVE the guy and think he's integral to our success. I just don't consider him a superstar.
