J White might be a great option to give a ten day two . He made the NDBL all star team and can fill up a stat sheet .

Any one know this guy or have any thoughts on who would be best to sign from the D league. Im sure one will be signed befor the game Monday . If only for the short term .

I did too. I've seen James White play. H e can jump out then gym. Got beaten in a dunk contest by David Lee but it was rigged. He's more of a Gerald Green high flyer type.

Scoring 25ppg and 5 boards . And you saying he can jump out of the gem . He sounds like the perfect player to offer a ten day to. Does he have a nice jumper or is he a slasher type.

From his pics Ive seen he looks like a Gerald style player which we need. He is over 53% from the field and 38% with the 3 ball. Almost 85% free throws... Id say give him a chance....

Man if we got him, with all those half-court fast break dunks he would get, those highlight lovers at Sportscenter would be FORCED to give us some coverage.

Everyone is also overlooking the fact that he is almost undoubtedly the only player in the NBADL who has an NBA championsip ring.
Per wikipedia: He averaged 8.2 PPG in 6 games for the Spurs. He was waived during the off-season by the Spurs on July 23 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/July_23), 2007 (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/James_White_%28basketball%29#cite_note-36)and did receive a NBA championship ring.
I couldn't imagine that he wouldn't be good, and LB and Pop are good buddies, so he could run it by him first, which always makes Larry happy (bouncing ideas off his friends and finding out their opinion of those players).
Well Pop didnt think enough of him to keep him, so thats not a great sign...but I like the look of the kid

Pop has one of those teams where he could trade all but his starting five and 6th man and still make the playoffs... He said there were no minutes for him...he was only getting 8 minutes, so its difficult what to make of things... Also larry and Pop don't have exactly the same style so this guy may excel for us... Larry is freaking excellent at getting more out of a guy then the last team did...

Amen to that, lets hope its the same with Vlad the Impaler
If we are going to go there - Marcus Williams (the bigger one).

White is a SF though...We need backcourt depth

I thought the SAME thing haha +1
I remember seeing him every once in awhile at Cincy and thought he was a good athlete but he seemed to rely on that too much. But that could've just been a product of the game I saw so...
I'm looking at him as a SF, and it'd be great to have an energy guy like him coming off the bench behind Wallace. But we need a SG. What if we got all 3, would we be the only team with 3 DLer's?

Honestly I'm not afraid to skim the top of the D-League... Frankly there are players drafted in the NBA who bust...<looks away from Adam>...and there are players who are drafted way late or the skills they bring <eyeing up Rudy Fernandez>... but just as much as those things happen, some players dont get picked who should have at least gone second round, they go into the D-League and flourish, a scout finds them and they get a 10 day...and if they do well enough we keep...frankly where we are in the season is not even a quarter million bux per full year D-Leaguer...and worst case we don't keep them next year...
That said White would be great... or Gary Forbes from our own SkyForce...There is also Joe Crawford... just pick one and get him here in time for some practice and some minutes...

Here is him in a dunk contest in Turkey:
This dunk contest was purely a joke. James White made some unbelievable dunks (such as dunking from one step behind the FT line) but after all, White was told that he should make one more dunk, although he completed the same number of dunks with other contestants etc.
I've seen him a lot last year, I remember he was no more than a freakishly athletic wing player with no BBIQ or shooting ability. But also I remember that he had improved both of these deparments late in that season.
After I saw his 25 point average, I thought that these are all 2 pointers. But his 3pt and FT %'s are very very impressive. I don't think we should fill the 15th spot immediately, maybe we can look at other options.
Man, I wish Chris Lofton would be available now. You should remember him, he wasn't selected in last draft, he's now in Turkey and just scored 47 points on 13/20 3pt shooting !!!! I definitely believe he'll be in NBA next season.

Sick, The NBA should put D-league all star stuff on TV. I mean I know the DL ASG was on, but the dunk and all that should be on too, those are my fave parts of the the all star weekend. They've got TNT doing NBA AS coverage, why not put all the D-league stuff on NBATV. I know I'd watch.
Better dunker than some of the NBA dunkers in my opinion, although Nate was pretty darn killer and Rudy would have done better if Pau could pass.

LB knows, and I wouldn't be shocked if this guy gets a call up, because that kind of skill and athleticism doesn't grow on trees (hell it doesn't find itself past 20th in the draft very often).

Man, those are legit free throw line dunks, too. Is the Int'l line shorter? The two handed dunk and windmill were pretty impressive.

Well it's before Labor Day, so let's get White
This is part of an evaluation made on White in January...might be why he has not been called up by anyone...I posted the link if you want to read the entire evaluation...good player with some negatives...
"White still has a tendency to complain animatedly after any foul call made against him – a big red flag for NBA teams. He also occasionally shrugs his shoulder when the offensive play is not called for him and looks uninvolved, a problem which plagued him on occasion in college where he would go through long stretches without being involved in the action. His body language has never been his strong suit after all. These attitude problems are going to need to be investigated by NBA teams before they call him up, as teams are hesitant to add role players mid-season that might bring drama or baggage. However, his all-around game and athleticism is certainly worthy of a call-up to the big leagues this season."

Definately a big no-no for LB
I just lost any want for him if thats true, we want hard workers and team players ONLY

*flush* there are his chances with LB.
Teej if I looked for a combo guard out of the NBADL I'd look at Cedric Bozeman before I'd look at White...just my opinion...not as flashy but I think a better all around choice...

I don't mind not being flashy, it means you have a chip on your shoulder and will probably perform better. Flash is good in February, not June. Just ask LeBron and Dwight.

Somebody who glides from the free throw line running from half court is the definition of a great natural player. Their is nothing you can do to acquire that, you just have to have IT. As for a good team guy, White was on the Spurs. Pop cut him because he didnt have minutes for him, but Pop only brings in high quality people.

Yes, but if he was THAT much of a natural he would be ona team right now.
And if he was that high quality of a player with that talent, he would be on a team right now.

not sure how true that is. But everybody can keep their own opinions.
Well...it would seem to be a league opinion not anyone here in particular...since all teams need players (and guards have been called up this year) and certainly scout NBADL I'd have to think there is something to the evaluation I linked...and like others I'm sure LB is aware of J. White...if he wants him I'm sure he will bring him up...
