If they manage to finish the regular season at .450 and above, they're golden.

Well, Milwaukee's three games under at the 8th spot. Assuming a couple of teams put together some runs for the 8th spot, it's looking more and more like you're going to have to get 40-42 wins to make the playoffs.

I'm guessing we need 22 wins, because I think NJ will be a .500 team at the end of the season.

Usually, that would be true, but the 7 seed (Miami) is three games over .500. This year, I think you're going to have to do better than .450, unless one of the teams above us, New Jersey in particular, has a significant injury.

21 wins so far, 52 played, 30 left...I'd aim for us finishing well above .500 to be happily in the 6th seed... Oh, wait 8 teams go to the playoffs, do you want to be last in the playoffs tho? I do like matching up with the celtics because out of the teams on the top we have our best chances against them. All that said 24 wins from now at 45 wins to finish the season would be wonderful.

So are the 6th and the 5th, Pistons and Philly, respectively. Every team, except the Wizards, will go for that 8th spot, and for some to win, others have to lose. Figuring we'd be the one on the winning side, a score sligthly above .450 would do just fine. We should also consider the tight situation in the west, a lot of them westerners would just love to secure that final berth over the backs of easterners.

I pull for the west every time they play an east team other than us (clearly) :)

Welcome to BCP Bobcat Ninja,

I'm guessing that 39-43 will be good enough to get us the 8th seed. With that being said, we'll have to go 18-12 after the all-star break to reach that number. Its going to be tough, but with a healthy Gerald I think we can do it.

What is Pistons' record from the New Year? They are going to have a significantly worse % than they have now.

20 wins is what Charlotte will need to make it to the playoffs.

going 20-10 or better seems rather a large order considering the first half we were well under .500

although i know the last 10 games or so with GW we had a great win % idk if anybody has the stats or not....i wish we could have started the season out with the lineup we have now

looking in the month in january (granted it was a tough schedule) we went 8-5 until gerald wallace was injured

mathematically we should have gone 9-4 if we were to make the playoffs by that point, so we were close, and it is possible, but we have to play every game as well as we did during that time, and our schedule is a bit easier, so its possible, but going to be very hard

if we get 19-23 more wins we are in. Or if Wade gets injured, Miami's spot opens up.

Well, considering the Bucks are currently in 8th with 26 wins, if they go .500 the rest of the way they would be around 41 - 41. I think we have to be at least that to get the spot. That means we have to at least go 20 -10 down the stretch. Not sure we can do that. This is why some of those losses earlier where we had the game and blew it in the 4th are likely going to bite us in the butts.

At least we won't have to wait long to figure out whether the playoffs are possible or not. The last week of Feb has that brutal roadtrip. That'll make ore break the rest of the season.

Go Western Conf! Beat those Eastern Teams!!

If we can become a good enough road team to make the playoffs it will pay dividends because we are going to have to win on the road in the playoffs to go anywhere. I am hoping to not only see 20 wins but a 20 game streak! That would wake up the city of Charlotte.

I think we will get the 8th seed, but I want whichever one plays the Celtics. They are the team we match up against the best, it will have the most media attention, and as long as we dont get blown out we will get instant respect, like the Hawks last year.

The Cats will have to win 20 games to make the 7-8th seed the east is much improved this years as opposed to last year...It will be a tough task but it is very feasible... I dont think THey want to see the Cavs in the first round...Celtics gives them a better chance and I think they have a very good shot @ aCeltics upset...

+1 Hubby and I keep talking about the same exact thing that you said. We feel we have no shot to make it to the second round if we meet up with the Cavs but we match up so well to the Celtics that we could have a decent shot.

Matchups aside, I think our biggest problem with Cleveland is that we're simply intimidated by them. With Boston, we have that chip on our shoulder of last year's game and the subsequent win in Boston. (And of course this year's win.) We know we can beat them and would probably grind it out even if Boston put a hurting on us in one or two games of the series.

I'm not sure we'd come back from a bruising by Lebron. I think we'd have to have weathered a series like one against Boston before we would feel confidant enough to beat the Cavs in a series.

Besides, I'm not sure that anybody but the Lakers could take the Cavs in a seven game series this year. Maybe the Spurs.

Seems to me everytime we play cleveland our shot is off, we cant hit the planet if we just drop the ball and cleveland hits everything they throw up. Our main trouble with cleveland we have no answer for Lebron and we cant get into the paint against them.....

Don't know why, but I have a feeling we get in this year at 8. Just call it a hunch that we will play our best ball down the stretch. I know we have a brutal second half of the schedule, but it seems like we have done a good job of assembling peices that gel together (and I hope we keep Raymond too, imo he has been playing the best of his career) I think the C's would be a great matchup in the first round, and next season lets see how quick the bandwagon will fill up.

I still remember last year, Lebron KNOCKED THE BALL OUT OF BOUNDS and yet it was Cavs ball. That is the closest i remember us to beating Clevland. But we got to keep faith.

Yeah, but you've got to look at the way they play against Cleveland. At the home game this year, Lebron did his powder bball messiah thing and our guys seriously lost their edge.

Keetch-- back me on this: if this is the 72 Knicks and a guy does that at the Garden, he doesn't leave with his all of his teeth.

We already beated Cleveland. And even Ammo had a good defensive game against LeBron once (as odd as it sounds). But we have no answer to them this year. Even without Lebron we would have a hradtime not to be swept 4-0 in a series.
