View Full Version : Official DO NOT Trade Wallace thread

If Bob does a Crash trade it's 100% about being cheap and I will not renew my season tickets. He wants to be cheap? Then he deserves to have the arena half empty every night. Charlotte already went through this for years with Shinn, don't get the same reputation Bob cause we're not a forgiving city. Trading Crash for developmental league scrubs?? You gotta be sh!tting me

Hell yeah, I'm not this boat. Wallace is bar none the best player on our team and as much as brown has mixed things up, he should stay as near to untouchable as possible. That said, he isn't lebron, Kobe, Dwade, or CP3, so that means he can be moved...

Agreed he's not Lebron or Kobe, but even discussing dealing him for Portland's bench warmers is insulating to Gerald as a player and our intelligence as a fanbase

Agreed. I love Crash, but if a deal is struck that can make us better and into a winner, I'm for it. Trades are part of life in sports, and the players know it. Besides, if Crash went to Portland, with the youth and talent on that team, I honestly dont think he'll be crying about it.

I don't want to give up Wallace for anything. He is a player that is worth keeping here and like I keep saying if they trade him it is going to be very VERY hard for me to be able to get over it. I will still go to games and will still support the team, please don't get me wrong on that cuz I LOVE the CATS, but it's going to be very hard to get over missing Wallace and the whole dynamic will change of the team that I am not looking forward to seeing.

Certainly if we can get better trading him is fine... but Short of us getting their starters i don't see it... Wallace is much better than other teams would believe or be willing to trade for. 17 ppg doesn't say it all, for it to be fair we'd need to trade for a 20/7/3 guy because he does so much intangible stuff (like get to the line and play above the rim) that get the crowd into the game like none and i mean ***NONE*** of the other cats do.

I haven't looked yet, but I take it you have read over the RGM Portland site and they like the idea? I think it depends tho on who we are taking back in any deal. Still, I agree with you on the general premise that if the Portland fans like it, then they got the better of it. But right now, it's all talk. Until any deal is done and we see exactly who is involved, we could come up with some deals that serve us better. Like getting LMA and Rudy Fernandez for Crash and filler.
I don't think they'll trade LMA for Crash since they were not willing to trade him for Amare...

Yah, they are split on who they'd like better between Butler & Crash but the general feeling is that Butler would cost them Bayless and they think that's too much. None really seem against the package going to us in the rumor.
I think it's been substantiated that Portland killed a LMA/Amare swap...and even used the excuse that their fans are so high on their core that they don't want to upset that.
We ain't getting LMA, Roy or Oden...nor is anyone else for that matter barring something stupid.

Phoenix thought they were getting the better trade. Two arrest and a losing streak later, I doubt they still do.
LA thought they were getting the better trade. Hell I thought they were too. I was wrong, they were wrong.
I don't want to get hosed. I just think that as valuable as Gerald is to us, getting cap space and young talent isn't the worst thing. and every trade so far has made us better and better. plus i love the idea of adding Batum to this team. Hes french and would learn and develop much faster under LB.
I'm not opposed I just accept that if we trade Crash or Ray before the deadline that we're playing for next year...which...at this point is probably more realistic anyway...it is not a bad trade all-in-all...

Not a bad trade all in all? Basketball wise this is a putrid trade. It's nothing like the last 3 trades which were about what the players could give you on the court. This one would be all about the cap and we wouldn't even be under it enough for it to matter.
I think having 12.7 (LaFrentz contract) come off at the end of the season is sizable...and given that would be one of only a couple of teams with major cap space (to accept a player contract dump) along with two quality young players coming back...and given Crash is one concussion away from career over...I'd say all-in-all it would not be a bad trade...you certainly have a right to your opinion...but that's mine...
If we trade Crash I refuse to go to any game this season.

You can't be like that though. I'm going to feel as mad and hurt as you are but you gotta at least go to the games for a night out that is fun and to support the new team of the cats I mean GAWD I hope he doesn't get traded either but you still gotta go to the games...that is what is most fun about the Bobcats IMO....

What is fun about a night at the Cable Box without Gerald?

I wont be happy with the trade on day 1, just as I was unhappy with trading J-Rich, but things all happen for a reason and we've been getting good at stealing in trades. If we do trade with portland I PRAY we take Rudy Fernandez.

Even if we get Rudy what else would we get?? Gerald is a game changer like no one on that team or this.

Totally agreed. The hubby is just on a Rudy F. kick and has been since the trade rumors initially started with Felton and Nazr to Portland started.

Well he's the only thing close to redeeming about a real life trade with Crash
But I was wrong about one thing, they have a game changer in Roy, he's just totally off limits.

I would trade Wallace and Felton to Portland who is apparently interested in both. But it would have to be a three team deal because we have no need for the cap space that Raef's contract would provide. If there was a third team involved I would be interested. These are both very good players but they aren't the type of player Larry Brown likes. Plus we finally have some more options depth wise (ei Radmanovic, Diaw, Cartier).
I'm not saying it will happen but I can see the upside.

I would rather be stuck on a Reality Show living with The Fine Ham Biscuit for a year then have Crash traded.

I can't say that I'd be all that thrilled about the Portland trade ESPN was talking about but I wouldn't say we shouldn't be open to trading Crash. As good as he is he will always be out for portions of the season. That's just his nature, that's how he got his name and it's good to an extent and bad to an extent. What happens when we get decent enough to make the playoffs and we're without Wallace yet again? I wouldn't say no to a trade as long as we do it to make the team better eventually.

We could recover from crash trade, FHB would not only ruin our chances this season, but his incompetence would destroy everything we've built. He'd probably start Lil Sean, Cartier, VRad, Wallace, Diop because he doesnt know shit about shit ;)

Thats the problem, Anytime we have talked about some type of trade involving Wallace it's never been a equal deal for us. I'll never get over them trying to trade him for T.J. Ford...These are the type of people they try to bring in. Not Brandon Roy or Rudy. Portland isn't going to give them up for Felton and Wallace. I personally would much rather have Wallace then Roy or Rudy. Wallace works on both ends and none of the people mention in trade talk on this board or in real life have been worth trading him. He's a fan favorite and comes to play every game. Just look how he play'd last night. Almost 40 minutes after breaking a rib and flattening a lung and missing 10 games. People kept talking bout don't trade Felton, He plays hard every game. But Wallace is far more Key to this team's success but thats my opinion

My blood pressure went through the roof when I read this during last year's draft, I thought to myself WTF is Crash even being DISCUSSED in a trade. How insulting to Gerald, I'm so glad it didn't seem to bother him. He should be as untouchable as Okafor and DJ I think. He's always been my favorite Bobcat.
