Then we would have some financial flexibility this offseason. Could this move be a set up to resign Felton or possibly go after the likes of Rasheed Wallace. I would love to have Sheed. But the more I look at this deal the more I like it. We either need to get rid of Nazr or get Batum in return. I would rather get Batum cause the kid is sick, but I could totally go for this deal. That said I don't think it will happen. I think we will stand pat. Either way I am happy.
PS is LaFrentz playable? I know he had a bad injury a few years back but if we got him can he suit up?

If that trade ever went down, I'd vomit. Who the hell does Portland think they are? They keep on stacking up without giving anything away. Besides, why do we need to create cap space, if we know we're not the sexy destination for potential free agents! I say keep Crash, have a decent run, and get a late lotto pick!

We can't trade Crash he makes the team gel. I was at the game las tnight, he played awesome.
To me we have 2 minor deficits:
1) THere is not enough playing time for Felton and DJ and while Felton outhustles everyone, DJ rots on the bench too long when h is automatic from the field and moves the ball better
2) I like Okafor but he is a PF not a C. It's obvious when you watch the games in person even more than on TV. If anything is needed it is a true C and we dont have one. Okafor gts stats based mostly on minutes played. Diop is a body in the middle but has zero offense. Diaw is the nicest sf/pf combo guy in the league (His finesse is unreal for his size).
I would prefer to keep the team we have but LB has to find a way to get DJ more minutes. I think our inside prescence is weak but don't see what we are going to do about it

Not really in regards to flexibility.
After we resolve Felton we'd probably still be at or within the MLE...which we'd have anyway.

Ok so this Raef for Wallace straight up shit is exactly that- shit.
Wallace for Raef and Batum- still shitty
So a guy like Wallace who can be an allstar is only worth Raef and Batum
But Tayshaun and fucking Kwame Brown are worth Sergio, Fernandez and Raef?
NBA experts are fucking retarded

But i heart Rasheed, and have a 'feeling' he will come here anyway. LB + the UNC Connection = Rasheed territory.

Drop oden, keep Diop. We've got enough broken players in May, we dont need portland's hospital bills ;)
Most of LaFrentz salary is covered by insurance (80% I think)...the only reasons to do this trade IMO is if you really want to bring in young talent...like Batum...you also want to create cap space for a salary dump before the draft...a team (Portland at this point) actually saves money (from insurance payments) on LaFrentz and that coverage goes with him in any trade...it does waste a roster spot (and of course with McMay we already have one)...if Portland really wanted this deal they'd ask for McMay back since he is an exspiring and they'd have that come off at the end of the year...but I don't think a deal will be made with us...it appears our FO would not blink on this one...

Economy affects decisions, but not that much. No thanks.
I agree...the way the team stands now gives us the best chance for the playoffs...another trade (I think) would kill that chance at this point...
