View Full Version : I finally figured out why Sean...
is still around and always around MJ.
MJ wants him to be his assistant when Sean doesnt get any other offers to play basketball. Sean has a great BBIQ, recent playing experience (not much, I know Amour), a knowledge of the team and personnel, and is a great speaker...and is from UNC!! If this is right, you heard it here first. If not, then it's just a topic for discussion. Thoughts?

Well, all the time he spends next to MJ at the games, the fact that even though he hasnt plaayed but twice since the fall that he wasnt cut at the deadline, and his professionalism. And not bragging but I come up with some good (and not so good) conclusions.

Well I know they keep working Sean, and once we get to the make/break point of the playoffs we'll probably see him play again (if we have failed this year). He is looking MUCH thinner and last I spoke with him he only has 2 more pounds to go. Frankly I think we'll see him when we're done with this road trip, even if it's only 5 min/game. There is hope in with the staff to make him play again. I doubt we'll pick up his QO though, I think we'll waive him off, and in 30 days when no one has picked him up, offer him league min salary (if we have a roster spot at that point).

Yeah, I am not sure if we will pickup his QO or not either, but when healthy the guy could really get us some points and boards. I mentioned the fact that May and Jordan were looking all chummy the other night at the Orlando game, and that May actually looked really decent weight wise.
At the same time I think they may pick up his QO, as I doubt there is going to be a rush at the 4 position in the offseason, and if May can prove himself over the course of the last 20 or so games then they make some type of conditionals on his contract ( he has to workout , do weigh-ins etc over the off-season).
He does have one of the highest BBIQs if not the highest on the team, I think if he gets playing time he will hustle his ass off just for the fact he has to prove his worth for his career. I think LB made it clear by sticking to his guns that he wouldnt play him unless he dropped the weight. And that made May realize he hasn't got many more chances of staying in Carolina.
But is 20 games of 5 mins enough for him to shake the rust off and get in game shape? Like wallace said ( the gym/practice is totally different than actually playing in a game against an opponent).

i actually hope that IF the terrible day comes when we get staticscally eliminated from the playoffs, we let Sean get some heavy PT in to prove to other teams he can still play. I dont want him with our squad next year unless he makes some HUGE changes (im talking Jared from Subway style changes) but i dont want him unemployed either. I hope he gets scooped up by a team that needs a reserve PF/competive eater....

In a near perfect world I see May coming back and helping out at the 4 spot getting 12 minutes and 8 points and 5 RB's a game. In reality Im hopeful and in a wait and see mode. We all talk trash about Sean and none of us really know what may happen. Sean could come back get into shape and really kick butt like everyone hoped when he was drafted or he could get hurt all over again and not be able to play. I do think he deserves a chance to contribute if he loses the weight. If we just dont let him get in shape and let him go then someone else could pick him up and he could blow up in our faces... I do want to let him have a chance to prove himself on this team. In other words not give up on him too soon....

Yeah , what is the ratio of comebacks from the surgery? 50%?
I am not saying that may is an All-Star caliber player by any means, I just feel with his BBIQ and healthy he has a chance.
A lot of naysayers say he is shitty , a fatass, worthless etc, but the fact is when he was healthy he contributed a fair amount,, a lot more than others we have had on the team! Its like davcbow said.. we let him go without being positive he is not worthy, then he blows up for another team scoring 12 to 20, 5 and 5 then we will be back to this Bashing the FO for making a move, although others on here that have bashed him constantly in the past would then get pissed he was traded.
Everyone here is entitled to their opinions, which makes this place great! I hated BK and the Nazr trade, and some didnt. I think May could be a strong missing piece , others dont!
We shall see i guess!
I would love to see sean play well, I just cant see it happening. But I can see him doing well in a desk job...as long as its got lots of belly room

When is this magical day when Sean May contributes to this team suppose to come?
There's a reason why He's in a suit on the bench while Nazr & Ajinca who never play are still listed as active for ever game.
I don't want May to have any part what so ever with this team
He has not shown he even deserves to be on Bobcats radio

wow who saw that dumb-ass one liner coming
regardless of what people think of may, and I am not saying we re-sign him or not, just saying he can play when healthy. he is 2 pounds away from LB's target. Either way if he hits the weight we need to play him regardless. Let him play to see if there is a chance to keep him or let him play to push him and nazr and oak in the off-season.
with may in 07-08 our 1st 12 games we went 7 and 5, he got injured we go 13-30 or some shit. he does make a difference regardless all the couch coaches views. Yeah he is dead weight sitting on the bench, but he needs to be played to move. ESPN constantly ranks the cats lower in the rankings due to May being injured. I guess he sucks that bad.

We should put together some cash to rent the forklift that will take him out of the arena when the season is over

Sean will be in a suit tonight doing nothing again. The FO has been questionable in the past and I honestly think they'll bring him back again wasting more money. I'm sure Sean would rather play then be jordan's goofer so he'll try to be signed by someone....I say we give him that chance some where else.

No way, the two don't even chat with each other during games. And Sean May would be terrible motivator. If anything I just hope MAy will be Jordan's paddy.

Youve heard the old saying "the way to a mans heart is through his stomach"? maybe May thinks that by being best buds with jordan and feeding him everything he wants to hear is gonna keep him around...

Its the only way
I wouldnt mind seeing May in a GM role at some point, he's smart enough, and has playe before, so if and when he can;t get a job we could replace Rod with Sean...and get two GM's, Sean and May

May has shown himself to be anything but smart since entering the NBA. If he were smart, he wouldn't be in the situation he is in right now.

I'm talking about basketball smarts. The Hick from French Lick isnt smart, but then again, he did win that Coach of the Year award, right? And led the Pacers to the playoffs many times?
Is Sean May wise? No
Does he have basketball smarts beneficial to an NBA front office? Yes
