I know it is alittle early, but I think we should go out and add Jackie Butler in the offseason. I just noticed he is unused in Houston and going to be a free agent. LB loved him in NY because is a young big who can score in the paint. He even recommended him to Popovich when Pop was looking for a backup to Duncan. I think he could be a great addition to our team as a back to the basket big.

Ugh, as far as I can remember, Jackie Butler = Sean May = Eddy Curry in terms of work ethic and appetite, so we could use him to hang out with Sean May and literally take the food out of his mouth, but that's it.

Well,
He is only making 2.3 mill this year and leaving a team that didnt use you hurts your marketability. Sean may is making 2.6 this year and i am assuming he will be gone at the end of the year. If LB realy did like him then it seams like an option that would be on the table.

Keeping in mind that we have a draft pick to pay a few mill to, off set by the 4 people we are still paying for being waived (F'ing Linton Johnson), we dont have alot of salary cap room so a guy like Butler would do well depending on our draft position.

Man, Jackie Butler was waived years ago by the Rockets. And then on, he was not signed by any other teams.

On a sidenote, he'd be a waste.

Wow. My mistake I didn't realize he had been waived because his salary still shows up on Houston's books on hoopshype. I just remember LB liking him and the fact that he would address a specific need we have right now in low post scoring and depth at the center position. Also I wouldn't right him off as a Sean May, Eddy Curry type just yet. But that is just me.

Larry Brown can like a lot of things, he doesnt need them all. I am sure their are other PF's out their that Larry can like. If he doesnt we can teach him to like them, or else....

He average 13 points and a decent amount of rebounds in the 50 or so games he played for Brown in NY. Greg Popovich also compared him to Moses Malone. Even if we don't sign him you can't write him off as Sean May. The fact that Brown liked him so much and he was apparently on the market confuses me. Brown got so much crap for starting him over the much higher paid Curry and Jerome James. I wouldn't mind if we signed him now.

We already have 3 bigs that arent playing, why get another when we need a 2?

Valid point. Brown apparently acknowledged that the team is looking into signing Luther Head who was recently released by Houston. I definitely see the need for depth at the shoot guard position, but I worry about how effective he can be as an outside shooter without a solid back to the basket inside threat. Hopefully Felton and DJ's penetration can free up his shot.

I like Luther, from what I've seen anyway, and thats not much. I just wish we coulda gotten McCants instead of Sacramento

I believe our PF has somewhat decent post moves and likes to kickout to open 3 point shooters.
