...not only do Boris, Lexy, and Gana have a French Connection, but Boris and Gana have a Senegalese Connection.

Boris' father, Issa, is a lawyer in Dakar, the capital of Senegal. Boris half-brother Paco was born in Dakar, and came to the US to play college basketball (he started at Georgia Tech, then transferred to Lee University) Boris runs a charity "Babac'ards" in Senegal, mainly as a basketball camp but with the abilty to grow to other means in the future. Boris vacations in Senegal a lot as well due to his family and charity.

Gana, obviously, was born in Senegal, speaks French like most Senegalese (I'll get to that in a minute), and shares the same last name as the last two mayors of Dakar.

For those of you who don't get the connection (like me), Senegal was a French territory until 1960, and still has major French influences. Until the euro was introduced a few years ago, their money was related to the Franc, and their government is still based off of the Parisian model.

Just a few interesting notes before I go off to start my day...I'm really hyped about this team!

I was going to put it on there, but I'm not sure how to organize it? If you have any thoughts I'll do it

Teej you could either add the info about each player to their individual pages and tie the simularities together about each one, or you can come up with a page of your own about "The French Connection" and list it in the "BP Mythos" section. I can help if you if you arent sure how to do it...

They also played together as kids because Diaw's father is from Senegal and their parents were friendly via the basketball circuit.

Kind of off topic, but I wasn't sure about another forum to put this in, and it's also kind of related.

You may remember a while back Bonnell wrote an article about the french connection, and in it he mentions that Boris has been asking LB to help with the French national team while LB is over in France this summer, as he already has planned to be. Well, there may be a lot of weight to that scenario, as it seems that Boris and LB have become pretty close. At the UNC-Duke game today, my friend was sitting behind Hanners, LB and Boris!

Just an anecdote that I thought was cool. I told her to congratulate them for me on their 6th win in a row, but I don't know if she did or not.

That was a great video...if only ESPN or someone would play it up! Maybe they should teach French at Davidson or UNC-C over the summer? Save them money on a professor in the economy :p
