View Full Version : Charlotte Bobcats at San Antonio Spurs... Lets make it 7 straight!

We are half a game away from the #8 spot and we've won 6 straight... Hell, why not make it 7 straight against Tim Duncan, Tony Parker and the rest of the Spurs on their own home court?

Seems reasonable

If we make it happen tonight you can bet the bandwagon is going to start filling up fast

Well it is doable if we come out playing. They beat us by 2 points last time with Ginobli in the lineup. Tonight they want have ginobli and we are a totally different team than the one they played against last time.

If we can control the paint at the same time stopping the three's we will walk away with the win.

One of the toughest buildings to play in on the road, so they have the advantage. Duncan will get his and Parker if he is on his game will get his, so then we just need to contain the perimeter game and keep a man on them like stink on shit.

How sweet would it be to come away from SAN AN with a W and 7 in a Row, Hottest Team in the EAST would be an understatement.

The only thing that will piss me off is even though we would beat the Spurs we would still get " the bobcats of all teams beat the spurs" , " The spurs beat themselves tonight against the lowly bobcats". Shit irks me.

Bobcats are the underdogs, i love it, but a little credit where credit is do would be nice. But I will settle for a 1st round against Boston, and Miami upsetting Cavs in the Second and we meet the Heat in the Finals and crush them :)

My dream scenario! We can beat anyone I feel in a best of 7 but the Cavs.

One more thing... The spurs want have Ginobli and it seems like Pop isnt going to put Gooden on the floor yet til he gets in some practice. If that is the case we can about chalk up the W now.

bing!

With the Spurs, they say if all 3 of the Big 3 are on, they win. If 2 of the 3, you have a chance. If only 1 of the 3, they are very beatable.

Without Ginobli, then to me the key is Parker. Ray is the key tonight. We have others who can dish out assists very well, such as Crash, Bell and Diaw. I would want Ray to put the greatest amount of focus on his Defense tonight. If he goes all out on Defense to shut down Parker, we win.

I agree 100%. Ray has the ability to be a stopper. I just hope he will be in that frame of mind.

I agree fully. parker is fast and loves the lane. If we can shut him out, and they have no Ginobli and now apparently Gooden want play, then we just let Timmy D work against Okafor and make sure we shut down the perimeter shooters. I know I have said that before ,lol, but the Spurs if they get hot beyond the arch then they can put a whooping on our ass quick, then we try to play catch up shooting bad shot after bad shot.

We can win tonight as long as everyone plays their game and gives the Spurs the newest version of LarryBall... Go Bobcats!!!!!

Whew!!!....2nite is a big game. Parker is basically unstoppable. He's just to quick and he's worked hard on that outside jumper. Duncan to me is a big cry baby. If Okafor & Diop play good man up defense i think we can match up well in the post. I agree Felton on Parker is the key match up of the game. Plus, the bench has to give this team some production tonight. Is the new guy able to play tonight? I'd actually accept Sean May's fat ass playing tonight. The more big bodies the better.

teej
03-10-2009, 06:36 PM
I think Diaw and Felton will be the key...Diaw needs to spread the court and the offense, and Ray needs to lockdown Parker and assist. I see a low scoring game, and I hope we win

Duncans the man, we just got to accept he is going to get 20. If okafor plays hard we can keep him at 20ish,, if he plays lax then timmy d will get more. The key is keeping a body on Tim Duncan, shutting Parkers drives to the basket , and then making sure we keep bodies on the perimeter to contest the 3pt shot. If we can do that and have a decent fg% then we will win.

nba says

This Time Last Year: It's All About Matchups (http://www.nba.com/powerrankings/20080310.html) -- The Rockets had won 18 straight to rise to No. 1, the Warriors were two games ahead of the Nuggets for eighth in the West, el Shaq and los Suns got a big win over the Spurs, the Bobcats were within 2 1/2 games of eighth in the East, and Dwyane Wade had shut it down for the season.

So we were 2 1/2 games out this time last year,. We will be ahead of schedule after we beat the spurs tonight.

Good game so far. We haven't backed down a inch. Horrible calls on the block by Okafor. Now he has two in the 1st qtr. Duncan has one, But they'll get another on him. He's so slow on defense.

Raja Bell is too funny, He's going to fake a foul out of atleast two more people tonight.

well tied at the half is not bad considering the Cats didn't listen to my coaching tips. So maybe they will read this while they are in the locker room :)

Have to keep Okafor on Timmy D,, foul for foul
Have to keep Felts in front of parker keeping him out the paint.
And have to put a hand in the face of every opponent on the perimeter. If we would have done this one simple damn thing we would be up double digits. We can not let them pass and pass and pass until they get an open body. They will light our asses up with their threes.

Do this and Yoda will be proud, and the Bobcats will have some espn time.. Hottest team in the East, 7 in a row

At least the Bobcats played the Spurs tough. Lesser teams we should beat which should give us a real chance at the playoffs. Spurs could win it all. It would not surprise me.

games like these though can ruin a team's morale, if you put all your effort and still come up with an L, im worried about the rockets now, i think we have less of a chance against them then the spurs

In position to claim a Playoff spot with 18 games to go, and we are choking. Dont think we're ready.

I knew the Spurs would win this one. They are at home and are getting in playoff mode for the rest of the season. They will be tough to beat in the Western Conference playoffs.

Yeah well the majority of us knew we weren't going to beat them in their house. But with the 6 game winning streak we had to atleast get our hopes up.

The Spurs are possibly the best post all-star break team around. They go all slow the first half then gradually get in playoff form. My second favorite team outside the Cats.

But atleast we showed up for 3 solid quarters. We do have an easy schedule after Houston. We will be 6th-7th a few games after Houston. I think most of the teams we play are all under .500 teams

Can't win them all. They're the NBA's best team in converting on possessions in the clutch and it showed. If they could've guarded the perimeter they would've had a shot.

It's not the fact that we lost that hurts. It's how we lost. We were tied after 3 qtrs, and simply fell apart in the 4th. Bad decisions, bad shooting, bad everything.

Agree, that was the key to winning this, we had to guard the perimeter. They are way to good a 3pt shooting team to just leave them open

Also, we looked a lot more tired than they did in the 4th quarter. When you only play 8 players of so fatigue has to play a role. Bobcats still rule and I hope we beat the Rockets Friday.

We had to have played a perfect game to beat them, and for the most part instead we played not to lose. I think that "6 game win streak" had become somewhat of a monkey on their back...and I expect them to bounce right back from this loss.

I agree. I think we could have tried to manage the rotation a little more. You have to let Martin play some more at the 2 so that Felton is not playing long stretches, getting a 2-3 minute rest and going right back in. I'm interested to see what this Donnell Jefferson guy looks like as a combo so that he can play beside DJ and have Felton sit on the bench and get rest to be ready for the close. Furthermore, if he has size and playmaking skills, it will be able to enhance DJ's effectiveness and allow him to stay on the court longer stretches.

Tonight, Felton expended a lot of energy guarding and slowing down Parker (who has been murdering the league of late), which means he and LB have to be aware of it. LB has to try to give him as much rest as possible when it fits and Ray has to realize that he is not going to have the same legs to shoot in the 4th if he doesn't get the rest.

I think as tough as this game was and as much as we weren't "expecting" to win it that we had a chance. Unfortunately, Felton was in "tired mode" at the end of the game and had some bad shots and a couple of TOs. When he is rested, he can be a strong asset in the 4th quarter. When he is tired, he can certainly play to the detriment as his focus and execution falls off. After the Spurs hit a couple of shots, from there, the team went into panic mode, including putting Okafor in bad positions twice with the ball. If Donnell Jefferson is able to legitimately play, it would be great to see Felton's minutes reduced and his rest periods spread out well, so that in the last stretch, he is able to properly execute as this team needs to close out tough games.

I think the guys gave a strong effort and hope they will be ready to bounce back on Friday.

well at least Jefferson will get a full practice (or 2) in before trying to play. And also, as we saw with the May sighting, have 12 active of 15, with 2 in D-League, only 1 has to sit out, so maybe May can get Lexy's (nonexistant) minutes.

Good news/bad news:

Good news: With six wins in a row, I forgot what losing was like.

Bad news: I now remember how much losing sucks :(

I swear I don't know how the Spurs ever lose when they're healthy. Maybe when their outside shots aren't falling? Or when Duncan and/or Parker get in foul trouble? Maybe having an unguardable guy on your team like Kobe or LeBron or Wade?

Wow, both games we've played them this year, it's not even close how much better they are than any team out there.

Good job by the guys tonight, but the butterfingers and TOs and poor offensive flow (ie Spurs defense) did us in......the Spurs' inability to miss a 3 in the 2nd half just cemented the inevitible outcome.

Very down after this, but will be good and ready for Friday for a REALLY REALLY need to win game....not saying MUST win, but it'd be quite helpful.

just finished watching the game on DVR. last night took one for the team and American Idoled it with my wife. my first thought after the game, the Spurs are a pro's pro team. pop rested ducan and TP for long stretches in the first and early 2nd half and just hung with us. last 6 minutes of the game, turned it on and won going away. as much as i don't like watching the spurs, that was very impressive. i don't think i have seen any other team do that. boston, la and the cavs can't do it like the spurs. if they are healthy with manu, they should win the west.

LB made a comment on the post game interview..that lately when DJ / RF are in the game together, they don't shoot well, and that is the kiss of death

interesting comment..you have to wonder what practice will be like for those two today. i expect them to have a solid game friday after being publicly critized by their coach.
