I'm sure some of you have seen this already, but I thought it was humorous, and the forum is moving too slow for me not to post it.
Shouldnt that be for the Clippers now?

Not to open up this issue but it's the dumb name that's such an easy butt for jokes. Bobcats is soooo High School. That really was a mistake, not that the listed alternatives were any better. The crazy owner tongue-in-cheek names the team after himself; what does he expect?
It'll take years of high-end basketball just to overcome the mocking.
what did you want? the flight??

damn fatigue...The Bobcats are a fifth year expansion team and to have expectations set very high is unrealistic and stupid. The fact that the team is competitive and has beat some of the elite teams in the league over the last three years is more than enough to earn respect. What makes the Bobcats the butt of peoples jokes is not the won loss record but the past perceived failures of MJ and the lack of fan support. If the Bobcats enjoyed half the support of some long established losing ball clubs the sports pundits would at least show some respect for our Bobcats. The inner turmoil from the owner and MJ picking AdMo all add to the lack of respect. Let's not jump the gun about wins and losses. The fact that well into the season LB pushed for trades to better the team should please many. Since LB came our front office has been very accomodating and for that we should be glad. Our Bobcats have been a much better team since the trades were final yet there are still many weaknesses that need to be addressed. With that said nobody should jump the gun about this team or losses to Min and Ind. Ind was playing pretty good before being bit by the injury bug and there is no telling where they would be if healthy. Minnesota has gotten better as the season has progressed and they are not doormats. Yes they lose most of the time but they play hard and give themselves a chance to win every game. There are a lot of guys on our team learning for the first time how to handle being in the run for the playoffs this time of year. Our team in LB's mind lacks depth to the point where he doesn't trust giving most of the bench much playing time. For those reasons the playoffs will probably be just out of reach. Considering how things have gone I will be happy just improving our record of last year by two or three games. Next season the Bobcats can keep their core and make a few moves to address the teams depth. I look forward to a a record of well over forty wins next season. This year we will either finish barely in the lottery or barely out. Hopefully we finish barely in so that we at least have a shot at a top five pick.

I'm sure some of you have seen this already, but I thought it was humorous, and the forum is moving too slow for me not to post it.I have to laugh at stuff like this. The Bobcats are a fifth year expansion team and they are on their third head coach. Numerous players have come and gone and only this year did the team get a coach with a reputation for doing great things. If the Onion or anybody else expected some fifty win outburst in this our teams fifth season I think they need to have their heads examined. Expansion is never easy even in the modern era. The Bobcats with the exception of last year improved their win totals every year and this year it looks like the same thing is possible win wise. This year has seen many changes. Bell and Diaw were considered garbage and we were supposed to be screwed over in our trade for them. We have gotten rid of serious underachievers in AdMo ,Matt Carroll and Ryan Hollins. None of the players we traded away aside from JRich are having much impact on their teams and I would have to say all our incoming players through trade have had an impact on our team. Diop may be giving negligible help to our team but he has had some moments that have contributed to wins himself.
All that said I will take Vlad, Bell, Diaw and Diop over anybody we had before including JRich. I was and am a fan of JRich by the way. Still with a full season with our head coach and staff, our players achieved in trades and a few key off season moves I feel we are set to be the next Atlanta Hawks of the NBA. Our Bobcats are not that far off from reaching that high an achievement next season. This season the team is still learning consistency and how to come together. Next season with some added time together the added chemistry alone will make our Bobcats better. Keep your expectations low this season so that their is no way to feel let down when the team does not reach them. It just is not likely our Bobcats get the eighth seed. Besides an eighth seed is a sweep waiting to happen. ;)

Carroll was a frickin D-Leaguer!! How was he an underachiever:confused: :o :hypo:
Hollins was taken late in the second round! If we had had the pick before, we could have had Leon Powe (selfless plug for my friend ) and had an awesome guy who can drop 30 pts on the Cavs, but besides him, Paul Millsap, and Steve Novak I don't recognize any other names of players taken in the second round that year!? How is he an underachiever?

Unless we got the Celtics...damn you KG

Did you laugh?
I realize it was suppose to be a joke but doesn't this just show how the team gets no respect. I have a great sense of humor but i didn't find this funny. To me it just showed how the NBA and fans as a whole view this team. It's like we just got the franchise yesterday.

Yes I laughed. It wasn't funny enough to garner a hearty laugh but it was good enough to get a quiet little chuckle.
I'm sorry, but if you (not you Kat.. anyone) get your feelings hurt from a trivial little article like that, it says a lot about your (lack of) manhood. The entire country is in bad shape right now and people are losing everything they own. If you can't take a little joke then something is wrong.

Like i said I understand jokes and maybe i smiled at first, But it seems Carolina is always the butt of these types of jokes and disrespect. I rarely see them talk about the Grizz, Clippers, Bucks, or even the Thunder like they talk about the Cats. Even those teams get some air time on ESPN. I'm not mad at the Onion but just the general disrespect this team gets. But if we don't win games I guess we shouldn't expect anything but negative press.

Now THAT'S understandable. In general, we don't get any respect. But even to that, we haven't earned it yet..
So I mean I don't know... I personally don't care for respect because I like to be the underdog, but that's just me:cool:

Unless we got the Celtics...damn you KGWho cares that Carroll was a D-LEAGUER the reality is that he played quite well for the Bobcats in seasons past and this year looked nothing like his previous self. Besides it is only a matter of time before a star comes out of the D-League. Hollins was a waste of a pick even for a second rounder. He was nothing like he was in college and for that alone he is an underachiever. Along the lines of AdMo who aside from being a high first rounder was also a guy who never fulfilled his promise. When players show promise but never live up to it they are all underachievers regardless of draft position. ;)

Those that nitpicked my post did not get the gist of them. The point I was making is that players who never really lived up to their promise regardless of where they were drafted were discarded for players who are now productive for our young franchise. Playoffs or not I can't honestly say this season was a waste. When you consider how much has changed with this team during the coarse of this season I feel we are remarkably good. That is why we are getting some respect. Our players came together in a short period of time and have played some really good fundamental basketball. The pressure of this time of year was bound to get to our younger players and also the lack of a deep bench has taken it's tole. More changes will take place for our bench and based on the deals Larry has made so far I would say that bodes well for our young team. We are currently a work in progress. Give it til next year guys.
At this point I would rather we make the lottery than fininsh just outside of it. A small chance at number one is better than no chance.
If our players were such underacheivers, they wouldnt have been pieces to be traded for.
I argree with pur season being a success, but calling out Carroll, who isn't an LB player, and Hollins, who isn't an NBA player, made no sense...shwoing promise doesnt mean its there, it may just mean you're having a spurt of good luck...and someones watching...
