A lot is being made of the fact that we are one of only two teams to have a winning record (5-4) VS the Lakers, and are 4-1 in the last 5.
Then there is the Radman / Morrison trade that has worked out well for us, add to that a triple overtime loss and a rare instance of Kobe getting fouled out and there is a lot of contention between these two seemingly miss matched teams.
The question is can we convert the hype into another win, garnering us a title as perennial thorns in the Lakers feet, or will they come back swinging and tie our all time record back up?
Here is a game thread in an active Lakers Forum (http://www.clublakers.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=7&t=108845)

My predicition,
Raja bell does a good job containing Kobe, keeping him below 40 points.
Omeka is not intimidated by Gasol so he will get his double double with at least 1 monster block on Kobe who will be overly aggressive against Oak.
Felton will be left alone too often and IF his shooting percentage is up will make them pay for it, otherwise I hope they get in DJ soon enough.
Diaw will have a sold game but give up a few to many turn overs but will get some good open looks.
Crash and Vlady will be switching on and off all night so they can both attack the Lakers, I see both in double digits.

Its gonna be a good game... I hope LB watches Felton close and if he starts missing a lot of shots then get DJ in there early and not wait. I think a lot of times Feltons bad night shooting effects DJs shooting and causes him to also have a bad night. I hope DJ dont listen to Felts on offense ;).... I know they all will hold their own on defense but I hope Bell also has a good night on offense...

Vegas has us a 5 point underdog going against Kobe and the Lakers.
That's not too bad. They at least think it'll be a competitive game, and so do I.
This week is going to be our toughest remaining. We absolutely must adopt NCAA March Madness strategy of "survive and advance" by pulling out at least a game before the weekend. I think we have it in us.
On an unrelated note, will you boo Ammo tonight? I was trying to decide if present I would even give him the acknowledgement of a jeer. Frankly, I'm happy we got him because it led to the arrival of Vlad the impaler, who I love.

My prediction is that this game will be close til the early stages of the fourth quarter when one team will pull away. That team will most likely be the Lakers. Lack of depth will be what hurts our Bobcats in the end. I hope I am wrong but it just seems like our weaknesses will show up more now than any other time when we play top tier teams in the NBA. Top teams are getting geared up for the post season and will be in playoff form. If Koby has an off night our Bobcats have a chance. It helped Atlanta win. Otherwise when top teams have their best players healthy I doubt our team is good enough to beat them. If I am wrong I will gladly eat crow and wash it down with humble tea.

If I was able to go i would cheer for him. I was one of the people that thought he needed to get into a system where he had no expectations and could relax into his game agian.
Morrison helped his new team in two ways, first sharing the terminology the Bobcats use in calling their plays and later directing the team on how to get into Charlotte's practice gym after the Lakers bus pulled up when nobody else was around.

We'll see how LB works the bench. If he feels like coaching tonight we can win. If he sticks with guys that aren't taking care of business like he tends to do wayyy to often we loose. Let's go! Cats 98 Lakers 89 Dependin on the LB factor.

I am sorry that I was not very clear in that post. I actually meant that I think we are going to light the Lakers up. I don’t think they can handle Crash especially if he’s looking for some payback, and I am praying that Vlady unloads a rain of 3s on them in a “see what you traded away” show.
But they both seam so level headed game to game that *I* am not sure if they are going to go out with those emotions.

The X factor to me is going to be Diaw and DJ. Diaw needs to play like a grown man tonight. The last few games he hasn't been the same type of player. He isn't racking up the same amount of assists or points. We need to put their Big's in foul trouble early.
DJ has been great off the bench in the last four games. I like this rookie, He doesn't turn the ball over much has a great shot and see's the court well. Only thing i have against DJ is he doesn't run the offense as well as Felton. I'd like to see DJ get a few more assists and make plays to get his team mates in the game.

D.J. seldom gets to run starting line up. Look at his production as a starter they read something like 20pts 7 assist. That being said of course he doesn't run the offense like Felton he is usually working with a different group. The running joke around the club house is Felton is the devil see 6 points 6 rebs 6 assist last game. 666 thought that was funny...DJ is the truth trust next year will be different if not for getting hurt this year Felton was out of here.

Something else very important about the game. There were 19,568 in attendance - a franchise record. I know playing LA helped, but we've played them before at home. The difference is that we are playing meaningful games at the end of March and first 2 weeks of April. Games which impact us making the Playoffs. And it attracts fans. And that is a major win for this team!

Raja Bell is the man.
Emeka Okafor hits free throws? That's awesome.
Gerald Wallace, also the man.
Playoffs or no playoffs (the former please!), having a 6-1 record vs. "Kobe and the Holograms" in the past 7 games is a great feeling. Sportscenter had a piece on us, MJ, and our playoff chances. Legler thinks we have a "great core."
Thanks, Timmy, that's really sweet of you to say, honestly.
Need to play just as well versus the Garnett-less celtics, manana.
I went to the game and was utterly disgusted by seeing so that much gold and purple in the stands, I thought I was in LA for sec
Raja did one hell of a job on Kobe even though the refs were clearly Kobe fans
I was pretty excited seeing Mike at the game....
I really enjoyed talking shit to Lakers fans as they were leaving the arena. ( I think some of them wanted to fight me, LOL)
Ray Ray played a hell of a lot better and did a fantastic job of pressuring the ball tonight
Our attendees still suck, there were way too many times the Kobe fans were louder than the Cats fans
If we can pull a win out of our ass tomorrow, that would really be awesome..

Oh boy! What a great game to be at and I'm not even counting the Keetch and Dnbman sighting from a distance :p. It was easy to be irritable before the game because traffic was the bitchiest I've ever seen it....5th street was bottlenecked almost from the 77 entrance to the arena and that was at 10 after 6. Traffic wasn't much better getting out, but who gives a fig after another big-time win coupled with Pistons and Bulls losses!
A lot of fun sending those Lakers fans/bitches home morose after thinking they would come in here and take the Cats down with ease. Combining the fact the Knicks had a fair share Saturday night, it's been lovely to have consecutive games of sending punks home with tears in their beer!
Plain and simple, we imposed our will on them, and that was that...methinks the Cats have gotten in the Lakers' heads at this point, and it's a beautiful thing.
A phenomenal defensive effort by all with obvious honorable mention to Raja who couldn't buy a call, but proved he is the Kobebuster once again. DJ and Vladi off the bench were huge as well. Raymond is trying my patience with the unforced TOs (dribbling the ball out of bounds with no ball pressure?!?!), but he made enough solid plays down the stretch to offset his typical bonehead TOs.
Then there's just the joy of being there to see the historic 34th win and knowing that it won't stop there.
Onward and upward...

I am eating crow. I said that the Bobcats would falter down the stretch against LA but they held up and we got some solid contributions form our bench. The Lakers on the other hand are not near as deep as they were earlier in the season. Seeing Koby work his ass off against Raja was a treat. Crash is getting better and better and looks like he did before the injury. In my opinion Crash is the life blood of our Bobcats. Anyway, barring a serious injury to our core I can see another five or six wins possible. I don't think we will beat the Celtics tonight but I won't be too disappointed being that we are playing them right after the Lakers. As long as the game is not a blowout loss I can deal with losing.

I will no longer need the services of your institution as I feel I’ve attained, on my own, the general goals set forth upon my entry. As of the conclusion of the Bobcats/Lakers game of 3/31; my overall positive outlook on life has been renewed. Thank you again for the attempts to heal my post-traumatic apathy following the harrowing first-hand experience of “Jarrett Jack Night” at the Time Warner Cable Arena. It’s clear though that the holistic approaches that have been presented to me are not serving my best interests, whereas, a good old Lakers Whoopass definitely did the trick.

:biggrin::biggrin: That made me laugh, even though we lost tonight...
