View Full Version : nbadraft.net and espn discrepency
draft.net has us taking greg monroe with the 13th pick and espn has him going 5th in their mock. what gives? i would poop my pants if we got monroe with the 13th pick.
at this point, until all the players have declared, I don't view any of the mocks as accurate. ESPN still has Ed Davis going number 4, too...

That and the pre-draft camp. A lot of things change after that as well.

They've got to have a prediction up because everyone hungers for it, but I've found neither site very reliable until we get much closer to the draft.
It's just one persons opinion versus the opinion of someone else.
I fully expect there to be a lot of differences between mock drafts right up to the night of the draft. It's just one of those classes.

The main difference between the two is that ESPN assesses what the teams want and would take and NBADraft.net just put a list of who they are the best players and then just place the order of the teams next to them.
Teams like OKC don't necessarily want to pick a PG and teams like New Jersey wouldn't take a Center. ESPN takes that into account.
I actually like NBADraft.net. I have found them to be pretty reliable in the past. I do agree though that at this point in the game, everyone is simply guessing past the first 2 or 3 picks.
We could always do an experiment this year where we post what the two sites have as the lottery predicitons and what they evolve to between now and the draft. We could see how far off their final prediction is from their current one and also, obviously, how correct their final outcome is.
It would only be a sampling of one year but we could at least form an official BCP group opinion on which is a better source. Does anyone else think that would be interesting?
It would, but shlouldnt we use a better group of players? Because this group is really hard to predict and really, in my opinion at least, sub par. DJ would go top 5, Sean May top 7, Mek number 1, Felton top 3, etc.
But I like the idea.
I wouldn't take Mek #1 over Blake. Mek would probably fall to #2 for me this year (right where we picked him a few years ago).
I do see what you are saying though and this doesn't look like a particularly good draft class. Maybe though, that would be a real good indication of who does their homework better. When the draft class involves Lebron, Bosh, Wade and the like, anyone can get it right. This year, it will take far more talent to correctly figure a mock draft out.

I want to see who all the players that declare for the draft are before i even glance at a mock draft, then i need lottery positions, THEN i will start following them.
But maybe i am crazy....

You're not. I do the same thing. Why waste time looking at or making mocks when we don't know who's picking when and who's out and who's in?

That's what I'm waiting for too. It's a good thing they are reducing the time for when you can withdraw your name next year, it's like May 5th instead of June 12th. I like doing mock drafts lol.

Yeah, the only reason I look at the mocks is to get an idea of who scouts are talking about.
