Boston and Chicago are in overtime (!) right now. The game is all tied up 103-103 and Rose has something like 36 points right now. If the Bulls keep up their hot streak and tough play and steal one on the road, the Celts might be kicked out in the first round :o

Ray missed the buzzer beater, it's 0-1 for the Celtics.

Huge win for the Bulls. Even bigger playoff debut for Rose! 4-3 Bulls is my guess, but if Ray Allen's playoff woes continue then 4-2 won't be that impossible.

The Bulls are going to be the Eastern version of the Mavericks--a lower tier team that comes in playing hot basketball and ends up knocking out a top team

My take on the 1st round...

Cle 4 - 2 Det
Bos 2 - 4 Chi
Phi 1 - 4 Orl
Mia 3 - 4 Atl

La 4 - 2 Uta
No 2 - 4 Den
Dal 3 - 4 Sa
Hou ? - ? Por (<-- this one's an enigma for me)

No sweeps!

I could see New Orleans beating Denver...in 6...or not at all

but damn you Ray Allen...again :p

At this point I hate the Bulls for knocking us out, and I like the Celts, so that stings.

I am so happy the Celtics lost. Chicago is doing our bidding for us now! Also, i see Orlando sweeping Philly, because Philly talked A LOT of shit, then downplayed it:
http://slamonline.com/online/nba/2009/04/philly-happily-provides-orlando-with-motivational-material/

Andre Miller acknowledged that every team in the Eastern Conference wanted to avoid Cleveland, the NBA’s best team, and Boston, the reigning champion…”We just wanted to put ourselves in position where we can try to do something in the playoffs,” Miller said. “Boston is a team that people have in the conference finals. It’s probably easier to go through Orlando than to try and match up with Boston, with Boston coming in with a lot of energy and trying to get through the first round as fast as they can.”
“I agree with ‘Dre,” Thaddeus Young said. “Orlando’s a great team, but we definitely want to play them. Boston is fresh off a championship. That’s the worst thing you can do is go play a team that just won a championship. They’re going to want to get back and be hungry.”

LeBron is bound to put on at least one cold turkey performance in the 1st. Cavs have a deep roster, but too much revolves around him, if he's down, his team is down.

Swedd, you must be a mind reader. I was about to post this exact thread.

As far as the first round, the series that I'm keeping an eye on is Portland/Houston. The Blazers are extremely dangerous (young, but dangerous) and I can easily see them going farther than many people would expect.

Ryan Hollins is playing right now!!! He made a couple ooopies (thats turnovers in b-ball lingo) but i still love him (yes/no maybe homo. circle one). I am still rooting for the spurs though.

My predictions

CLE 4-0 DET
BOS 2-4 CHI
PHI 0-4 ORL
MIA 4-3 ATL

LAL 4-3 UTH
NOH 3-4 DEN
DAL 2-4 SAS
HOU 3-4 POR

I wan a Nuggets v. Cavs finals.
I might be the only one, but Carmelo v. Lebron (2 great players that will guard each other/match up against each other) is more intresting to me than Kobe v. Lebron (because whoever wins that will just have a group of obnoxious teenagers, including me if the Cavs win, using it as 'proof' that one is better than the other which in reallity could not be detirmined by that)

Alston, Fisher suspended by NBA

NEW YORK (AP) —Rafer Alston of Orlando and Derek Fisher of the Los Angeles Lakers have each been suspended for the next game of their playoff series.

In the Magic’s 112-94 loss on Tuesday night, Boston’s Eddie House was celebrating as after making a shot when Alston reached out and slapped him in the back of the head. Each received a technical foul after standing face-to-face for a few seconds before referees intervened.

For Los Angeles, Fisher was called for a flagrant foul when he collided with Luis Scola, who was setting a pick, as the Rockets brought the ball up the court. He was ejected.

Both players will sit out of games on Friday. The Magic are at home, tied 1-1 with Boston, while the Lakers will be in Houston. That series is also 1-1.

Kobe shouldn't be allowed to play in game three either. He elbowed Artest in the face and ARTEST got called for the foul.

Also, boy did the Celtics get some hold court calls last night. One major example is when Big Baby stole the ball from Rashard Lewis and was CLEARLY out of bounds.

I'm surprised some of the people in here that oppose favoritism haven't said anything yet.

The Bobcats-Orlando game I went to, the only game where I actually had seats close enough to hear the players, the dude was whining to the refs after every shot, and he was making excuses for him not making anything. And the whole spiking his hair like a tool thing isnt working either...

And I'm a UNC fan, but I'll call a Tar Heel out if he isn't doing whats right...just read my J-Pep post in the MJ thread, I don't like Vince Carter for not giving effort, and I thinke veryone knows my opinions about Sean May.

No. He did the right thing. I hate the whole intentional foul thing. I never really approved of it and think its a cop out from playing tough defense. They should have called a technical with 2 shots and possession.

Or in other words, that's what they get for trying to foul and not trying to D up :(

No. He did the right thing. I hate the whole intentional foul thing. I never really approved of it and think its a cop out from playing tough defense. They should have called a technical with 2 shots and possession.

Or in other words, that's what they get for trying to foul and not trying to D up :(

Yeah, but if you're trying to intentionally foul someone, and its legal for you to intentionally foul them, then the ref has to call it. Whether you like it or not, rules are rules. If he messes up again he should not be allowed to ref playoff games for one or two years. Stern needs to show us that he cares about the awful officiating. They ruined Bulls-Celts game 7 by making it a FT contest, and they tossed Artest because he's Artest. Make's me sick. Why can't we just play the fucking game?

I think he should be reprimanded because the rules say that they can intentionally foul.

However, I don't like intentional fouls or any of the cheap fouls D-Wade, Kobe, etc. get. I think it cheapens the game.

I prefer to let the game be decided by the players, not the refs.

Rockets tie the series, Yaoless!

One of the Browns had a solid game, 14pts & 3rbs in 19mins with a +/- of +14.

Since the rules say they can do a intentional foul and a team does use that option, then that is the players playing the game, by the ref not calling the foul when it happens, the ref has changed the outcome of the game.... Its part of the game, its allowed... Dallas had the lead by 2 points and because of the no call Denver wins it instead of maybe just getting a tie or loosing. Stearn needs to get on the refs about consistancy and no favortism.... Bad calls and no calls when they happen ruin the game. If you dont like the rules you can always take that up with Stern....

If you don't think the refs are doing their jobs and miss all sorts of calls, play favorites, and hate on small town teams.. then maybe you should take that up with Stern

Lakers defense is horrible they couldn't stop a team missing their 1st and 2nd scoring options.

Denver over LA in 7
Cavs over Magic in 7

Denver will shock the world I see Melo & Billups playing w/ chips on their shoulders. Melo will show he's All NBA 1st/2nd team worthy & Big Shot will show why he was a MVP candidate. Nobody expected them to make it this deep but I like Denver's toughness, depth & ability to steal a game or two on the road over LA.
