We got Everette Brown from FSU in the second, rated as a first rounder, but we had to give up our first rounder next year to get him. We also got a HB, FB, DT, and 2 CBs, one being a possible fan favorite in Captain Munnerlyn from South Carolina. All seem happy to be here, unlike Pep, and look to contribute immediately and down the road. We also traded with the Raiders for an addition 6th rounder next year.

My Grade: A-

Everette Brown A, We gave up a lot but I'm thinking our dline now has the potential to scare opposing QB's again by adding this pash rushing beast. Brown makes our pass rushing tremendously better. High character guy w/ leadership qualities like Beasin. He just needs to bulk up 10-20 pounds. Reminds me of DeMarcus Ware/Dwight Freeney check out the moves this guy has.

Sherrod Martin B, Hard hitting cornerback who is a ballhawk Ron Meeks & Fox should love what he will bring to our secondary whether he's a CB or FS.

Corvey Irvin C+ Very raw project for the future, I like that he adds depth to our Dline.

Mike Goodson B+ VERY elusive back who could be our Reggie Bush endzone threat. Versatile player can return punts, rush or be a slot wide reciever. Add him with DWill & Stewart & we have a three headed monster in the backfield Triple Threat > Double Trouble.

Tony Fiametta A Best Full Back in the draft & eventual replacement for Hoov. Adds Blocking, rushing, recieving, and special teams potential.

Duke Robinson B+ Straight up steal I think he could start from day 1. Add this guy next to Otah/Gross & our running game could rank #1 for years to come. He fell far so that's a concern but a major value pick & was BPA.

Captain Munnerlyn B, Potential punt return competition for Ryne & Goodson. I like the pick though he's small but he plays bigger. Very good speed, excellent hands, and an explosive vertical leap that allows him to play with taller receivers.

Overall B+ because we gave up next years 1st but I'll change to A if E Brown plays at a level he did at FSU in the pros

Captain from the youtube video seems to have great vision on the field, like he is always in the right place at the right time....

Before seeing those vids I wasnt as high on Goodson but DAMNNNNNN that boy can run. How was he not a top pick?? Jeez there was nothing in there that Reggie Bush does better than him...he can play slot instead of that bust Dwayne Jarrett...and Captain was in a bad situation at SC, he would have been a first day pick if he had played 4 years somewhere else...he could be a Ricky Manning type guy for us.

From what I've researched on Goodson he wasn't a feature back & got limited carries which hurt his production, an caused stactic between him & the coaches. Which is a big reason I think he declared early for the draft.

PS - Dwayne Jarrett will surprise next year.

I think we got some good players, but trading our 1st round pick next year for a 2nd round pick this year = something i dont like. I think their could have been some other combo of picks we could have traded for that pick, not our first. But hypotheticals are useless so i will live with it...and be happy too.

I like that Fox and Hurney addressed our glaring need of a better pass rush. It looks like Ron Meeks is trying to make his D line lighter and quicker with the pick, and hopefully Fox will let him be aggressive a la Jack Del Rio in 03. I just hope Pep is somewhat motivated this season (as it is a contract year again), and we get good return from the 17 mil we will be giving him. I am excited about this draft, and while I don't like giving up next years 1st (with a 1st place schedule this year) Hurney has drafted well the last few years, so I will trust him. Only 4 1/2 months to go.

I like what Ive read and seen on video's about each guy so I think we did better than average in this draft. Man 4.5 months to go is along time to go and 5.5 until basketball starts back.....

I like what the Panthers did in the draft but I think Munnerlyn is a longshot to make the roster, Robinson won't have the immediate impact most fans think, and that the Panthers reached a tad for Martin.

It was a solid draft. I'd give it a B+.
