Being the most knowledgable Bobcats fans thair is . What should we do with May.,
Pay him his 3.66 milion dollar offer , Offer him a smaller contract . Let him walk .
Your views are worth much more than Bonnells

Pay him his 3.66 milion dollar offer >:(
Offer him a smaller contract
I doubt they just let him walk...and from what Bonnell says May feels he "owes" us.
2 years, 1.5 million base, with up to 4 million in incentives, both weight and perfomance based. He could have been an allstar, he could be a 6th man, but he hasnt proven he can lay off the doughnuts...

It all depends on what is out there and what we can get. Say we can get McDyees, we can keep May and let Juwan go because McDyees can play his role. If we bring in an impact pf that is going to require mins let him walk and keep Juwan.
I say we offer him far less than the 3.66 mil and if he accepts, great, we'll role the dice. If he doesn't because someone else is silly enough to offer him big money, than I say let him walk.
I don't think anyone will be willing to offer him 3.66 per year. And definitely not for multiple years as everyone really seems hell bent on saving cap room for 2010.

Agreeded , 1 YEAR ONE MILION TOPS . At 3.66 milion he cuts into Feltons contract Kills all most any chance of us signing any MLE contract . He has had four years to prove his worth and hasn't yet . Hes not compleated 82 games in four years . Unless hes not in top shape i feel we wasting even more on him . Signing him is stupid if not more stupid than giving Morrison that FIVE EXTRA MILLION . Whitch really makes us hurt cap wize by trading for Valds long term contract.

Comparing Sean May to Tractor Traylor is a compliment as of right now... no joke. Tractor was athletic with his weight (at least for a season or two while he was young. Sort of like Big Baby is now minus the jumper)
I see May around town all the time and it obvious he has dropped some of the weight, but it may be too little, too late. We enjoyed cheering for him this season when he would make it in the game late, best showing was against the Wizards I think... but its best that he go his own way.

Assuming we don't do a trade to clear some capspace...which means we WON'T use the full MLE as it'll put it right at the luxury tax (no Dyess).
If we don't re-sign May...who is our backup PF? What happens if Boris sprains his ankle and is out for 3 months?

Any 2nd rounder pick is better then May right now. I honestly think he could do something next year with this team, I just don't want him. May has shown nothing, even in garbage time at the end of the year He still didn't show anything. It took him an entire basketball season to get in shape. That's shameful...

So you guys think we'd be ok with a Lex & Juwan getting heavy minutes at the 4? The 2nd rounder?
Brown only has so many years, and another season without making the playoffs would be devastating. With us so close to the LT I don't see how we can just blow off May...the options are just too limited.

Lots of guys take 2 years to come all the way back from microfracture (see keynon Marton) Give the guy one more chance. If he can stay in shape over the summer and maybe even lose a few more pounds give him the qualifying offer.

Ive read that same thing several times about other players that has that operation done to them so if it holds true I think Mays best shot to come back will be this year weather he is a Bobcat or on another team... We need a 4 so why not keep May this year just to give him that chance if he isnt working out then do what ever....

I'll bet you there are at least 10 teams out there just hoping we don't tender him so they can offer a 1.5 to 1.75 million one year contract with a team option for another year. Just too much potential there that has been hindered by health and coaching issues. We will have to do better but he is just not worth the tender amount. Maybe 1.5 with a player option for another year at 1.75?
