Who wants some Carlos Boozer? Hoopshype says Jazz are interested in trading Boozer because he is going to opt out and explore free agency this summer. we should give them a package that includes Nazr plus some throw ins. Or we could possibly throw Emeka in the deal and pick up Okur or something. haha maybe not but hey if they dont trade him they wont get anything for him so offering bullcrap may work.

what about 'he will most likely re-up with Utah and Paul Milsap is the one we should be watching' ?
Unless it is someone like Bosh coming back, I'm very happy with Diaw as our PF and wouldn't look to change that.

Boozer is one of the most underrated players. I'd LOVE to have him.

Doubt we could ever get him, its got to take a lot of money; but I think Boozer is one of the most underrated players in the league. I'd love to have him at PF. Much tougher than Boris.

And let our offense stagnate?
And let our offense stagnate?
Bingo.
Boozer isn't going to make Crash and EO50 better the way that Boris can make Crash and EO50 better.

I'll take Boozer.
playoffs...PLAYOFFS?

i like carlos boozer and if we didnt have diaw here, i would want him.
but i get the sense that the core of this team has been established already. i dont see us trading to bring another starter to the team, which boozer would be. i'm thinking we'll probably bring in some more bench players to add depth

if this is the core of our team we're in trouble. I've been thinking (too much) about this, and I've become very discouraged. Really the only guy I have any great respect for anymore is Raja Bell. But that's another thread.
But yeah if we're dependant on a "power" forward for ball movement, we've got other problems; meanwhile "Pilates" Okafor sort of cares to play the paint by himself.
Sorry I'm just not in a good place right now. This season ended so weakly (and I don't care about the last 4 games). It ended with yet another bad loss in Detroit to a team that was humiliated by the Cavs.

We're going to have to go with either Mek or Diaw. Not both.
diaw, we need offense and mek's defense and rebounding can be found elsewhere. (i am not saying the total range of skills mek offers but parts can be found elsewhere.)

Then we should take this offseason and try to move Mek's contract before the core of our team develops too much

Sounds good to me, I want Diaw wayyyyyyy more...but what are we going to get that puts us in a better position?

I really have no clue...
We either trade for somebody like Amare or Bosh? and pay basically the same amount of money but get better output. Or we trade him and our 2nd rounders for Hasheem? (not saying I would, that's just one of the few options I see for a big man)
Mek may not be a dominant Center, but there really aren't many big men we can bring in to replace him
I understand what you guys are saying about Diaw and Crash and how Boozer would be hard to fit in around them but........I'd take Boozer anyday! We would be a much, much better team with him on the roster.
Maybe Diaw can be our 6th man off the bench, maybe Crash can play some 2, maybe another option would work...either way, we would be crazy not to make room for Boozer if we had the opportunity to add him to our roster.
With that being said, I don't think we can get him.

If Diaw is the 6th man, then who sets up the offense when he's not playing??
And Crash has played the 2 before, it doesn't really work...

What I'm saying is that we would get rid of Emeka in the deal to get Boozer. and maybe throw in sean may or Nazr. I havent looked at the numbers though so I dont know how that would work out. I like Emeka but if we get another Big with talent equivalent to Boozers then I think we would need to get rid of Emeka. there I said it.

Who would play the 5? Boozer?? That wouldn't work...

Maybe the point guard...

I know right? Haven't we been heralding Ray for his ability to set up the offense? What would be wrong with having a play maker in the first AND second units?
The only issue I would have with Diaw coming off the bench is his salary. Combined with Boozer, we'd have two highly paid PF's and we couldn't give them both starter's minutes
Maybe the point guard...
Well we tried that, see our 7-18 start...no offense. We have 2 pgs that aren't capable of doing what Diaw can, not in the least. He has so much better vision, its like hes seeing things in slow motion. Ray and Dj, not so much...theyre scorers and passers (around the horn style), not offense makers.

you're comparing two completely different teams dude

I'm comparing the offensive abilities of our team before and after the trade...before, with felton being "the guy" running the show, we sucked. we had no ball movement. we had no scoring...after, with Diaw, it was the complete opposite, except we were afraid to shoot when we got open looks, which probably cost us more than a few games. But that's something that can be fixed, putting Boris on the bench destroys all that we had worked for though. And it makes the PHX trade seem like a waste.

Before the trade, the TEAM sucked. Felton didn't have a shooters like Raja and Vlad to pass to, he didn't have another person like Diaw to run plays with, and they were still new to the system.
If we would've started the season with Diaw instead of Felton (with the same roster) we would've had about the same record.

I agree with this. It's not that Boris is such a better distributor than our PGs but the fact that we have more than one distributor in the lineup without liability. We also added a 3 ball threat who was an awesome defender.
The trade for us was huge in a lot of ways. Not only did we add another distributor we became a team that could match up player to player with almost any other team defensively without someone being outplayed. This allowed us to not be forced to "help" on D.
And do NOT discount Raja's leadership. An example of the last two points: I remember in some game it was nip and tuck, and near the end Felton sagged off his guy to "help" against Mek's guy. Felton's cover got the ball back and drained the shot...and Raja was on his ass about it. STAY WITH YOUR MAN.
After the trade they all could do that. Before, they had to help.
Sorry to go off on a tangent, but I really love that we got so much stronger after a trade where most thought we'd lost out on.

A couple of things...Diaw would still be on the team and the 6th man of the team. Just because he is coming off the bench doesn't mean he can't get plenty of minutes. We could maybe find some extra minutes by playing Wallace a little at the 2 spot and Diaw at the 3. There are plenty of possibilities.
Also, when you actually have a post game like Carlos Boozer brings, you just have to have a good post passer at PG. The last time Felton truly played with a back to the basket post up player was at Carolina with May when they won the national championship. Give him good option in the post like Boozer and watch him not only be successful in feeding the post but his ever talked about FG% will increase also.
You're not saying that we would be a worse team with Boozer in the lineup, are you?

Wasn't Diaw not happy as a 6th man at Phoenix?

Would we be a better team, with Zach Randolph in the line up?
As far as I am concerned both Boozer and Randolph bring the same thing on the court (off the court is a different matter of course).
And if you want a post player, look no further than Diaw. In fact, he has a MUCH more refined post up/back to the basket game than Boozer.

I'm not so sure about Zach Randolph and Boozer being the same. If nothing else, Boozer brings a far better attitude and seems to be a much better team player.
I also don't really think that Diaw is better than Diaw in the post. Even if they were the same there, Diaw has the ability to play either forward spot or a point forward position as well. That makes him far more flexible than Boozer and therefore it would be easier to find minutes for him as a 6th man.
I do hear what you are saying though. Diaw makes it not necessary for us to get a 4 but I sure would love the depth it would give us.
What about Wallace playing the 2 spot and having Boozer, Diaw and Wallace on the floor at the same time?
Wasn't Diaw not happy as a 6th man at Phoenix?
Good point but maybe in this situation, as long as he was getting starter minutes, he would see the bigger picture and not be unhappy. Maybe...
@ Wam...
1) I would rather have Diaw in the lineup than Boozer, hands down. Diaw creates advantages lineup wise that we would lose with Boozer. Diaw is very fast for a PF, has a decent low post game, and is a threat at the end of games...and he is supposedly smarter than any coach on this team :p
2) Wallace can't play the two, because he isnt a shooter. It's been tried in the past, and has not worked.
3) I doubt Diaw would be happy as the 6th man on a team that's never made the playoffs if he wasn't happy as the 6th man on a championship contender...
