Long time lurker, first time poster. Since its the offseason for the Bobcats it seems that alot of attention is naturally on offseason aquisitions. I actually relocated to New Orleans recently and the word here is that the Hornets are going to attempt to blow up their roster and try to rebuild around C. Paul.

Naturally thinking how the Bobcats could possibly work a trade to get better, I was looking at their roster and D. West has a great value contract but word is he could be moved if Peja Sto... was also involved (he has 3 years and alot of $$$ left on his contract).

So what would it take for us to make that work?

Wallace, Bell and Mohammed for West and Peja, we could also try to get their young athletic SF, Julian Wright in the deal. (I went to several games and that kid is a freak athlete but hasnt developed).

That would make our top 6 Felton, Augustine, Diaw, West, Okafor, Peja. That has potential, thoughts?

Sorry Man, I don't like that at all. I'd love to see Chandler in Charlotte and it seems like they wouldn't mind taking near expiring contracts to make it happen. I'd much rather see Nazr and May for Chandler than the above scenario.

Welcome aboard to the board man!

First off welcome to the board, I'm sorry the only NBA games in your area are ruined by George Shinn.

As far as that trade, ehh, West is good but he would knock Diaw to the 3, and that eliminates his defensive advandtages. Wallace isn't worth giving up in there, although Peja could help. I like the thoughts, but I just wouldn't do that. Basketball or fan wise.

I guess my thought was that this would really increase our scoring production from our starting lineup and bench production. I think West could be a legit 20 pts 10 rb per game player in the East, which would take some of the load off of Mek down low. And Peja could be a guy that plays 20-30 min per night and he is a streak scorer so he can carry a team for stretches when he is healthy.

And we could get all that by really only giving up Wallace. Mohammed seems to want out and contributed litte. In Bell, you lose leadership and toughness but he is getting old fast.

Based on that thought process, I think this trade could push the Bobcats into contention for home court in the first round. But then again that is just my completely biased take.

West and Peja also have someone who can distribute the all well in Paul, Felton isn't that good, and that's why we got Diaw to play Point Forward, he creates our offense. Peja isn't much different from Vladi, so we'd have two of the same thing.

Bell is still able to do plenty. he averaged 13 ppg, and was named to several honerable mentions for his defense, and he was the key to us getting better. When he's healthy, which I doubt he was for awhile, he's a solid starter.

As far as the plus or minus on the trade, I think we're in contention for home court next year with this roster and another guard, after another summer of Larry Brown and gelling, and the weakness of the middle teams in the East. Post-trade, ehh, We would lose the matchup advantages that we have. And about half our season ticket holders. But I'm guessing that you haven't watched/been to a lot of Bocats games, so I don't expect you to understand :p

I absolutely agree that both Paul & Williams are better distributors, but I have to wonder how both our PGs would look with a scoring post player on the roster for a season or two. A guy who can score in the paint with regularity can make everyone look really good.

In regards to this TI I doubt NOLA would do it; if they're dumping West they want salary relief and this package doesn't really do that.

Besides...I REALLY don't want to lose Bell. I mentioned in the other thread what he brings, but I didn't mention that he is also an added distributor in the starting lineup. Over the course of the season he had multiple games where he had 5 assists or more...and he was one of the best at looking to set up Mek.
