Satan?
Business and religion, unquestionably. Political leaders are just outcomes of those two situations.
Those who rule out their countries out of sheer force are on the margins.

All I know for sure is the means to run the world, ignorance. As for the question as to who's pulling the threads, I remain ignorant... damn.

I'll say it's some combination of Bankers and The Oil Companies.
The amount of money and power that those two entities control is astounding.

I say the media runs the world. They control what we are exposed to, tell us how to think and what is the accetable "norm", do puff peices on politicians they like (usually liberal), and chop jobs on politicians they don't (usually conservative). TV is the first think we see in the morning to check on traffic, and the last thing we see at night, and they determine what is "newsworthy". Look at the panic about the swine flu, the regular flu was much more dangerous and killed many more people, but you don't see any "pandemics" going around with that.
The media tells the masses what to think, and if they beat the drum hard enough on an issue then the majority will feel the way they were told to feel, then the politicians will listen to the will of the people who formed their opinion based on.... the media.

The media is largely owned by businesses:

The whole "liberal media" thing only seems tangible because of the fact that people love to see powerful people exposed, and powerful people in politics often tend to be conservatives. "Liberal media" has also been criticized for the continuing stereotyping of black and Hispanic people too, two groups it would seemingly hold the liberal umbrella for.
Just look at the Political Science/Current Events bookshelves and you'll see tons of slanted books about the media from liberal and conservative sides, often contradicting one another. Clearly, biased shows exist. However, media as an entity is not liberal or conservative.

We all follow the commands of Sean May's stomach.
It is the underworld, The dark domain of wasted souls, disobey and you will eaten only to fall forever in it's bottom pit.

No one group truly runs the world, Rousseau had it part right when he said the general will (or majority rules) is the government, but in reality if society truly wants change, they will enact it, peacefully or not, and the previous person (s) in power are no longer as such, and the general will selects new leaders or a leader. Right now, it's oil in the Middle East and bankers in Asia. And soon it will be something else. Just watch.
And lol @ Swedd and Kat

Well from what I have learned and read from history and even modern times. The rich people that have controlling interests in the world bank own the world, they controll the flow of money and what governments do with the money. Thats pretty much it.....
