View Full Version : What about a trade with Minnesota?

Not sure if this is a thread somewhere else, but I bet they would love to do a trade like Augustin, Nazr, + the 12th for Miller 6 and 18. At 6 we could get harden, curry, hill, derozan, or evans. At 18 we could get a variety of guys that could be great off the bench. We get rid of Nazr, and Minnesota gets a great PG in Augustin plus whoever they want at 12. I love this trade. And the trade works out i checked with the trade machine on ESPN.
Thoughts......

Wrong idea with Nazr. He's not an asset. That contract is horrid and we would have to pay people to take him. There has even been talk of trading #12 to get people to TAKE Nazr. If we did trade with Minn. it would be #12 for #18 and #28 (or whatever their last pick of Round 1. is, think it's #28) Now I would do that in a heartbeat. Add the 2 Second rounders to #28 and move up a few more spots. We could get 2 pretty good players at #18 and something around #21 or so. If only Minny would do it. But they might. Considereing they could get #6 and #12, they would be pretty happy I'd think.

I think a deal like brewer, cardinal + 6th. for Augustin, Nazr + 12th. I think they would take that deal. We would move up using Augustin and get rid of Nazr. Minnesota just moves back 6 spots and get the PG they covet in Augustin. We basically replace Nazr with another unproductive big guy who has 1 less year on his contract. Brewer could become a good player if he can recover from his injuries fully. I like this trade better and i DO believe Minnesota would do it.

What is it you see T-Wolves getting in that deal? They get no value, really look at the trade from their perspective...
* trading down six spots in the draft
* taking on Mohammed's absurd contract which lasts a year longer than Cardinal's bad contract
* losing Brewer who they probably still consider a piece to build on
* all they get of any value is Augustin and arguably they can find a player of equal talent at #6 in a player who would be a year further away from free agency, and do so without adding an additional year on a bad contract and losing a building block for their future.
There's no value in that trade for them.

BTW- it's awesome that you're so enthusiastic about looking for ways to improve the team. I just think you need to step back and look at the trades more from the other teams point of view, not just how it would improve the Bobcats.

90% of the trades posted on this site should take this advice.

I'm generally against trading Nazr and against trading DJ as well but Nazr, DJ + 12th for 6th,18th + Miller. I'm not sure about Miller's contract situation he would be probably just one year rental. I'm not all-in for this trade but Iwouldn't be pissed off uf something like this happens. Still would prefer to find a way how to keep DJ.

We'd be trading Nazr and DJ's contracts for Miller's contract which is about a million dollars more than theirs combined. The only brought spot in all that is that Miller's contract ends a year sooner than Nazr's.
Then we'd be adding 2 million more from the draft picks in guaranteed rookie contracts, so a total of 3 million more of salary with us already approaching the luxury tax. Not sure I see that happening.
If we make a move with Nazr it's to get his contract off the books, not to add more salary in its place even if the contract does expire sooner. I just can't see the team wanting to go near the luxury tax threshold while Johnson is looking for a buyer.

Here's a take on a trade which I had not thought of before. Interesting, but not sure if it's worth it.

Not really a fan of that one. Who would we target with the 6th? Unless it's Hill we'd most likely be adding another PG/SG/hybrid SF to the roster.
Besides, I think we can get more than that for Mek. Couple that's been proposed by other teams' fans on RealGM:
Gasol/4th (they now have the 2nd)/filler for Mek
3rd/26th/filler for Mek.
The first we get a talented big and is my favorite (and probably not doable!). The 2nd guarantees us the best SG in the draft in Harden, an extra late first and bucketloads of capspace.

I would likely take both of those over the Drafttek one. But I do like getting out of a 6 yr. Okafor commitment for only a 2 yr Miller one.
With the Memphis one we could maybe work that into a megatrade, with Mek, DJ and a trade exception since Mek's BYC, for Gasol, Jaric, and the #2. Then we take Rubio, and LB gets his 2 PG's and we have a way to keep Ray for less money most likely.
Thoughts?

If we got Rubio I would actually rather trade Ray. And the only way we trade for Jaric is if his wife makes an appearance and every home game! ;)

We can't trade Ray before the draft though. And DJ is the better guy salary-wise unless you want Greg Buckner.

I didn't think you could use trade exceptions in multi-player deals.

I don't know, I'm not an expert on that.
Instead maybe we could pick up Dontell's option and trade him? or sign and trade Cartier? it's a tiny number we need to make up.

Looks like you can't but you can...

TE’s can’t be combined with players in deals, but multi-player deals can be broken into pieces and a TE used in one part of it.

Works if you pick for each other. ;)

I don't care as long as we get Rubio and Gasol, who I think have worked with each other before. And Rubio will be better than Ray or DJ. Probably combined.

We tie a burger around his neck and let May loose on him until he finally agrees to leave.
Yes, I am AND was being sarcastic. I don't think they'll make that trade.
