I just got a feeling that Michael Thompson or whoever from the Bobcats would think we have turned to clueless lunatics by just scanning titles of recent threads. So I just want to make them feel this board is still sane. Feel free to discuss any off-season decorative moves (assuming starters should stay).

No, Michael still loves us (as far as I can tell), it's like this every year, and quite frankly, there ARE some clueless lunatics running around here. But most of them leave after a few insane posts. But for the most part, we come up with the right stuff, and just reading the threads shows whats going on in most peoples minds. ^-^

I think our team is playoff caliber...for the most part we are still really young...I think the bench is now our problem...get a few key role players and we'll be much better...I think the draft will help that...I think we see more of Ajinca this year...I wouldn't be surprised though to see Iverson sign here and become the starting SG and Bell come off the bench....I kind of like that idea...Bell I think would be a very good piece coming of the bench, and Diop is improving very well at Center IMO (working on his offensive game and his FT shots and I think he'll be a very good back-up) I think we are just a few players away from being pretty good...I still think back-up PF is a glaring need...I hope we can get rid of Nazr, maybe give Ajinca time at both PF & C this year...maybe give Sean May one last chance at the very min. If he wants more than that let him leave...If he gets injuried again, we can just cut him...

May's qualifying offer would be for 3.68 million. I'd say let him walk.

It'd be awfully hard to justify signing him at that. (Other than to use as filler in a trade.) If they plan to give him a shot, then the minimum would be the way to go.

The core group of player we have can get this franchise to it's first playoff game. The bench is truely horrible. This is going to be a big draft, We can address atleast two of our major depth chart needs. There's no need to break this group LB spent the whole year putting together. This team is one or two players away from a playoff competing team. SG and PF need back ups.

I was think about going after Gooden who can play pf and c for us. Most c in the league aren't massive so he could give us some minutes where as Diop has problems scoring Gooden can rebound, score and has and some passion for the game. We could give him our MLE. Since all the talk lately about AI get him to understand that he will be a situationally player and if he agrees bring him aboard. Those are two key acquisitions that would put us over the top. In the draft we go after the best sg with a combo of defense first scoring second. I think we could also bring in Morris Almond who I think would fit that need since he can light it up with his perimeter scoring or if GSW lets him go Anthony Morrow. Morrsis Almond hasn't got his chance in Utah but LB makes everyone better the same with Morrow as he has shown he has talent while both have size. My thoughts on lineup
Felts, Dj, Ollie(FA)
Bell, AI, Almond or Morrow
Wallace, Earl Clark (12th pick), Radman
Diaw, Gooden(FA), Ajinca
Okafor, Diop, (Trade back into late 1st rd) Mullens

That would be a solid team, but I don't think we have enough money to bring in all those players

I could see Gooden maybe signing for the full MLE like you say (though if playoff team offered it to him as well I'd think he'd take their offer over ours), and maybe Almond signs for the league minimum, but then you're assuming we'd be able to sign AI for either the league minimum or the biannual exception, which seems unlikely.
Also, I believe Sean Singletary has a team option for next year which costs less than what Kevin Ollie would at the vet minimum, why make that switch?
Beyond that how do you plan on getting rid of Mohammed, and what do you use to trade back into the first round to get Mullens?

We trade Radman and our seconds to get back into the late first rd. Teams would be willing to take a chance on him simply because he is a scorer. Nazr would be the only hold up. With the money we save on May and some on Radman AI might bite. If he doesn't so be it go after maybe Nazr and #40 for Mo Pete and #21. Ollie knows LB system and would help bridge our guards over the hump. Worst case scenairo I think we could come out with something like this:
Felts, Dj, Ollie
Bell, Almonds, Mo Pete
Wallace, Clark, Martin
Diaw, Gooden, Alade Aminu
Okafor, Diop, Ajinca
Alittle shacky at the 3 if and when Wallace goes down but Almonds and Mo Pete have the size to play some back up at the 3.

I have this feeling Jordan is going to resign may for a 1yr QO, let his ass try and produce and if he doesn't then they will look to trade him after all-star break.
I know a lot of the guys here aren't fans of Tyler Hansbrough, but his combine reviews have been pretty damn good, they said he came in a lot taller and bigger than they all thought. One guy was stating that a lot of the mock drafts were wrong and he will most definitely go in the 12-20 slot. They are claiming you know what your going to get with him.
4yrs of college lets the scouts see every possible thing about a player, whereas if a player only plays a year or two then its more speculation.
I know a little off topic, but they feel he could come off the bench and give 25-30 mins a night in a PF roll giving 10-20 ppg/ 6 boards. They claim the opponents with t-rex will have to respect his intensity and the fact he can hit the 10-16 footers. They say outside of Blair he is probably the only other player in the draft that doesnt give a shit about banging around in the paint. No Fear

What teams in that range would be able to take on Radmanovic's contract without parting with any salary? Before July 1st, the time period you're talking about making a trade to move back into the 1st round, in that range of the late first none of those teams are under the cap enough to take on his contract without parting with salary.
Nazr would be the only hold up. With the money we save on May and some on Radman AI might bite.
Even with May & Radmanovic gone we'd still be over the cap and only have our exceptions to use.
If he doesn't so be it go after maybe Nazr and #40 for Mo Pete and #21.
From what I've heard, New Orleans is looking to get rid of salary, not trade salary for salary (or at least a deal with only 1 year left on it). Other than Nazr's contract ending one year earlier than Mo Pete's, there's no benefit in that trade for them. Most likely the Hornets are looking for a team to that can take salary and the #21 without having to give them any back.
Ollie knows LB system and would help bridge our guards over the hump.
How so? He likely wouldn't ever play and would cost twice as much as Singletary. Unless you mean from a teaching perspective, and in that case isn't that what the coaching staff is for? More specifically, isn't that the reason that you hire a Larry Brown, because he's so adept at coaching up/teaching his players?
I'm not saying I don't like the moves you're suggesting, I'm just saying that they aren't realistic from the point of views of the other teams or the salary cap.
