If AI can make it to the All Star game(Rigged?) then he should be popular enough to get us a game on national TV.

Here is an interesting article i found about AI/Brown

^Correct me if I'm wrong, but didn't I say all that already? And half the people who have e-columns? LB's been saying the same thing over and over, AI's been around town, and we need a scorer. The AP's a little behind, aren't they?

And I think AI should get us at least one ESPN game, plus the Lakers games should be on NBA TV at least. We'll get something next year. We were snubbed, but we defied all expectations and we should be one tv now.

No doubt it would give us national games. I just hope that maybe A.I. could play here so we could become the talk about the league.

Those beat writers have to steal from somebody in the offseason

Of course he would. Just because he is older doesn't mean is any less popular than he was 5 years ago.

after last season and the success billups brought to denver, iverson is much less popular/relevant to the nba. i think you are highly overestimating what iverson would bring us. we will get on national tv, when we start winning. we got national attention at the end of this season because we were in the playoff hunt.

AI would put more asses in the seats. Winning can only do so much, people like to win sure, but people also like to say they went to a game and saw a star. I mean yeah AI may not be in his prime but he can still score.

But to the original posters question, it will take a miracle to get us more than a couple of games on TV. Hell we can't even get a contract that lets everyone in the carolinas see the bobcats, much less outside of their 50 mile radius of charlotte bob johnson signed up for.

yea, winning does get butts in seats, but stars can too. if we can get iverson AND win more, then things will go well

I wouldn't want to go to games just because of Iverson. Iverson's fame is over. It's not that kind of league anymore. Tattoo's and attitudes don't cut it in the NBA no more.

Thank you Mike Wilboun for opening this one up. Honestly AI would get the Cats some national exposure but at what cost? Honestly I thought Larry Brown would get us some national attention but it didnt even get us local attention. Lets worry about fans in the Carolinas first before nationaly.

At what cost another MLE five year deal. AI dosn't have two good years left much less five'. We would be better off moraging the house on Curry . At least them we know for sure we more local coverage. Another thing the Lux tax isn't far away.

I have known this all along.... I want the Bobcats to get AI. He would be a great addition if he didn't complain.... He is a great scorer... Trade Raja and Nazr at the draft for a pick to free up space, then pick up AI. Thats what I think

First off welcome!

Second, Raja does way more for this team than AI could, and cheaper than AI would.

Third, No one wants Nazzy, his contact is horrible right now. Were this next year and he was an expiring, maybe not, but now, it's bad.

As much as I want AI, that's not the way to go.

I actually agree with your points, but the city of Charlotte however is a different story...the people'd be all over AI's nuts if he came here...that's just the Queen City for you.

As for the question, I think it'd give us slightly higher media attention. Swetooth9 has it right about the combo of AI and winning really bringing the national attention...I mean, if he comes and it works out, it'd be another redemption story, and we could actually get a Sporting News, SI, or at least a SLAM cover out of it.

playoffs...PLAYOFFS?

the best way to get national/local attention will be to actually start winning games...regardless of whether we have a star or not..i question AI really being considered a star with so many new younger players that are in the media all the time

i personally think a team like ours, without any stars, and winning games will be easier to pull for since we would always be the underdogs

Exactly. Everybody loves the underdog story. If we have a team full of misfit no names (even though they aren't), the crowds would go wild over them making a playoffs push.

my longing to get Allen Iverson has gone slightly down.

He would get us respect, but is signing a player with citing 'need to gain respect' really a good reason to be signing him? ;)
