Don't get the wrong idea; this process is still in the hands of the teams, not the player. But there's no doubt where Steph Curry wants to play.

And it's NOT Charlotte...thank God.

Why does everyone want a kid who clearly doesn't want to be the hometown hero? He's not a Charlotte kid...

When SI asked him point blank, NYC or the QC, he said the Big Apple. Without hesitation.

Can someone explain to me why we think he's a savior?

True, but he can create his own shot. JJ also played against terrible teams at his time as a Dookie and still could not create his own shot. Having sucky competition helps showcase your skills, i am sure if i put you on the court with a bunch of 3rd graders you could beast them, but you still need to keep in mind what Curry did against 'better' teams and how much he meant to Davidson.

Btw i dont want Curry, im just saying he has tools to become a really good player. Not saying he will become one, but he does have the tools.

I think he would say that because he wants to be a higher draft pick with the Knicks. He would get more money, more exposure, and be in a system that would play to his strengths.

I don't think it's a dis to us. I just think he's trying to make himself as glued to the higher picks as possible, especially if he's already got a good relationship with the Knicks organization.

Exactly. I take nothing he said as an insult to Charlotte. He's a good kid who will play well in the NBA, and I think the system from the Coach in NY fits him. Why not make a push to be the #8 pick - lots of money.

He's a very, very good player. If he does end up growing to 6'5" he's going to be a MUCH better version of Kevin Martin. What's not to like there?

I don't blame him for positioning himself with the Knicks.

It's not like he didn't come to Charlotte to work out. Heck, we were the very 1st place he came to.

as a lifetime knicks fan i'm not mad b/c curry in d'antoni's system is scary. as for the 'cats, i'm uber-happy b/c now i don't have to worry about him coming to charlotte. i hope he succeeds, but if he came here, i would be nervous about how he would fit in and what we had to give up in order to move up to draft him. now, if we can scratch blair and hansborough off our list, i could sleep better at night.

El Oh El, so every team JJ played against was top-tier? The ACC had lots of weak teams in it when JJ was their.

But they were still better than most conferences...

Well

UNC won a National Championship while Redick was in college
Maryland won a National Championship the year before JJ got to Duke, and averaged 20 wins during his career
Wake Forest had guys like Chris Paul and Josh Howard while Redick was in school
Virginia had Sean Singletary and J.R. Reynolds, who combined to be the best guard combo in their storied school history

just to name a few.......

my answers to this are in bold:

Okay, 1 good team so far, which JJ could NOT get his own shot off against and relied heavily on screens/picks/Sheldon Williams kick outs on offensive rebounds to accomplish most of what he did

Maryland won a National Championship the year before JJ got to Duke, and averaged 20 wins during his career
What does them winning before he got their have to do with this. History is history. But they did have several players (aka John Gilchrist) who gave JJ problems

Wake Forest had guys like Chris Paul and Josh Howard while Redick was in school

Both good players no doubt, and had Skip Prosser coaching, and once again JJ had the same exact flaw of relying on others to create a shot for him

Virginia had Sean Singletary and J.R. Reynolds, who combined to be the best guard combo in their storied school history

Another team that gave JJ problems

just to name a few.......

However, you left out Boston College, V-Tech, Clemson, G-Tech, NCSU and Florida State. Out of those, only Georgia Tech, Boston College and NCSU deserve to be spoken about as legit teams. Florida State (without Al Thorton), Clemson, and V-Tech (even with my boY Deron) all are pretty bad teams. But JJs flaws were on display against them too. Stephen Curry is Davidson, for the most part. And he, no matter against who he played, unless tripple teamed, could create his own shot. That is what makes Curry a far better and different player than JJ. He is also more athletic, is a better play maker, and can actually play defense.

Stephen will fit into whatever team he plays on, while JJ needs a Orlando-esque team where someone helps him get open looks/creates a shot for him.
