just wondering, i mean there are absolutely no signs of this happening but if we offer him only a one year deal around 5.5 Million and he feels disrespected. He could go out and get a contract from like Dallas for instance who is in need of a starter. they could offer him more than we think he deserves and that contract could be multi year which i am against giving felton.
does anyone think he could just end up leaving for more money and a multi year just to see if the cats will match it?

We'll negotiate with hm after the QO, so it's irrelevant. The QO is just procedure, not anything to disrespect him. And where's Dallas going to pay him from?

I think he's assuming all we offer is a one year deal for 5.5 mil? I don't know why we would only do that but hey...
If we did, DJ would be our starter and we would probably draft one of the many PG's--seeing as how that's what we're probably going to do anyway

Dallas will get the money from kidd coming off the books. i think he makes like over 20 million so they would have plenty of money to grab felton if they felt like over paying for him. the only reason i threw their name out b/c they wanted him in a three way deal at the deadline if memory serves me correct.

What makes everyone so sure that Felton would produce any better numbers in someone else's system? Especially on a team where's he's not the "go to " guy when the shot clock gets low.

he might increase that assist to turnover ratio and just maybe get the weight of being the go to scorer off his shoulders I think he could benefit with more shooters, then maybe his shooting % could possibly get a little higher. b/c i personally dont believe he should be the guy shooting with only a couple of ticks on the shot clock.

Even with Nash's contract expiring they're still projected to be 15 million over the cap.

I don't think Dallas cares too much about Nash's expiring contract ;)

Not this time around, anyways

Read up on restricted free agency:

There's only like 3 or 4 teams that can offer Felton over the MLE. Though Dallas expressed a lot of interest in Felton before the deadline they can only offer a MLE deal.

I agree. I was just pointing out that the example he gave (Dallas) doesn't have the cap flexibility to just outright sign Felton to a deal we couldn't match.
If, for some reason or another, we lost Felts and got nothing in return that would be a very, very bad situation. After investing 4 years in him it would be a massive blow to get nothing in return.
I think with Ray our worst case will be a sign and trade with another team...not enough teams have the cap space to just "take" him...if he gets a contract that we don't want to match from (any team name would do) lets say Dallas they'd probably want to do a sign and trade with us so I think we have a little (not much) leverage but not a huge amount...

Heh, did you notice that the same guy wrote Fannation's Charlotte Offseason Blog?
In that one he's saying we should cut Felton loose. Must be a Dallas fan. :p
I'm not sure why I'd pay attention to a rival teams fan blog anymore than other teams fans should pay attention to ours...with that said...Dallas (FO) made it clear before the trade deadline that they'd like to have Ray so that's no secret...Stackhouse is the only possible chit they have to play with us and if they're talking 7-8 million range why wouldn't we match? The answer is we would match...plus...Ray has already made it clear he'd like to stay so I'm pretty sure we'll get a slight discount from him...

I know. Nash doesn't play for Dallas though ;)

Nor has he for quite a few years.
I meant Kidd. Don't know why I put Nash.
