I'd sign him for one year at the league minimum...if he wants more than that let him leave...I think he can play if he'd stay healthy and somewhat in shape...but when he can only play 5 minutes a game before he's dying then no need to give him all the money...
I also think we should get Felton to sign before we let May sign...

They have to resolve their own RFAs before they can deal with FAs due to cap holds.
May has a twtter page...according to that he's been working out at UNC...but take it FWIW.

Spectre by not signing May does this give us wiggle room for a MLE player.??
dav...it gives us 3.6 (not committed to McMay since we relinquish his rights)....we have our full MLE and I think we stay under the cap (now) if we use the full...looks like 56.5 before we qualify Ray and about 62 million after we qualify him...those numbers do not include any draft picks we make...#12 pick would add 1.6 million...

What i thought but wasn't sure thanks...
dav...the "stay under the cap" part...I think we're over the soft cap (signing Ray and draft pick(s).but under luxury even if we use the full MLE...but the soft and luxury have not been released so I'm not for sure...

2009/2010
1,372,080 Alexis Ajinca
9,000,000 Boris Diaw
6,031,800 Desagana Diop
9,500,000 Gerald Wallace
736,420 Jefferson
5,250,000 Bell
2,375,000 DJ
5,504,197 Felton QO
10,522,500 Okafor
6,466,600 Radmonovich
6,466,600 Nazr
1,630,900 12th pick
64,856,097
Quickly (as I don't have time to double check) these are numbers I have in a spreadsheet here at work. That's 12 players at almost 65 million bucks. We need 1 more player to make it to the league minimum and I HIGHLY doubt Johnson is going to flirt with the luxury tax limit.
It we assume Felton gets 6 starting out and we added May for about 1 million that's put us at around 66.5 to 67.

May:
Last year was really tough because I felt like I could play and help this team.
Interestingly, I was also disappointed in last season because I FELT like I could play and contribute as well. I FELT like I could have blocked a lot of Howard's dunks and FELT like I could score anywhere on the court.
I felt a lot of things. If I only I could paint or write a poem about what I should have contributed last season.

This is the same crap we've heard every offseason and throughout last season when LB asked him to lose 15 pounds, and he spent 6 months losing 9.
The guy is, excuse me WAS, employed by an athletic team complete with other employees whose sole job is physical training. How is it possible that he couldn't do what was asked of him? If some other team can get him to shape-up then good for him and the team.

Well I can see why they are making him a UFA, I think they wanted him to drop his price a bit. Now all fat jokes aside, he did play well when he was healthy.
The issue I see is 2 sided. He owes the Bobcats a year of healthy play as we all have put up with zero production from him. And the other side of the coin is on his part. Yeah sure we can bitch he hasn't produced but would any of us take a job where your not paid a decent wage? Not saying 3 million a year is what he is worth, but if the bobcats wanted me to play for 750k a yr I would tell them to go to hell also.
Once you mark yourself for sale that cheap, you could have a great season and think your going to get paid next year then all the teams offer you is 1.5 mill a yr. Sticky situation. He can stay loyal to his fans and take the low pay or he can look out for his own business ( himself) and make sure he doesn't devalue himself.
I think the cats get him back, and he will be on the roster at 2mill for a 1 yr deal.

What????
Give me 750k just to sit on a NBA bench please...please!!!!!!
He's owe's this team four years of production. What job pays you millions with no profit for their investment? Sean May hasn't proven to management that he doesn't deserve to be sold cheap. May missed a whole basketball season because his coach thought he was to fat. The Bobcats should be goingto court against May for breach of contract.
BTW ...millst2...Come on back to the 9-11 debate i need someone clearly on the oppisite side to argue with.

No i am sure most people would want to be sitting on a bench that are not in the NBA. 750k in the NBA isn't shit. That's your career once you get firesold your pretty much done. I doubt I would sit on a bench all year for 750k and that isn't even my job.
The issue isn't that he owes us as fans and the organization anything or not. I already said he does, but the fact is that is his decision and if he hangs with the cats for less than a million dollars a yr then that will effect the rest of his nba career in terms of dollars earned.
I do not mind debating politics one bit, but I am not a conspiracy theorist either. There is millions of studies and supposed engineers and other people in various fields who think they know all the answers.
The Congressional hearings proved it was not an inside job BUT if your still infatuated with Obama and still believe he want raise your taxes then honestly any proof anyone found to prove it was NOT a conspiracy want do my side of the argument any good.

As far as 9-11, Not true millst2, It's not about sides. It's about the laws of nature being broken sayin jet fuel can weaken steal enough to cause the building to pancake. It's about Laws of our country clearly being broken. It's about a President becoming a Dictator and ruining this country from the top down. Hate on Obama all you want, Bush put him in the position to buy GM and those wall street companies.
About Sean May, 750k is alot to pay for someone that has only proved to be over weight and injury prone. I think he has already affected his NBA career enough, it truely won't matter what he gets paid.

Ok, you're either insane or rich if you wouldn't ride the bench for 750K. hell, you might hate basketball.
2nd off, yes they can be weakened enough and I hardly see how it's like a dictatership at all. I'm 18 and I can do anything I want that doesn't infringe on someone else's freedom for the most part.
3rd off I'd like Sean may back for minimum price.
He'll probably get a non-guaranteed camp invite...but no team will pay him 2 million given his medical and conditioning problems...if he is really serious about getting his career on track he'll take a one year here or a one year overseas...about the best he can do IMO...

Are you kidding me?
Sean May should be relieved that any team in the NBA is willing to spend money on him. He's produced more on the toilet than he has on the court.
For 750k a year, I would gladly sit on the end of the bench. That's floor seats to 82 games. I would gladly trade places with May for that much money.

I just asked you to come back to the 9-11 thread...You didn't have to answer here. But since you did I responded back. But since this is about fat ass Sean May, There's no way some sorry sap of a team pay's him 2 million. He's play'd like 50 games in 4 yrs. He missed a whole basketball season for being fat...Sean May at this point is lucky to get 750k. What team wants Sean May...No One..You think haven't been trying hard to trade him?
Blair dropped 30 pounds in a couple monthes for the draft workout and Blair doesn't even have ACL's. Sean May was out of shape before Summer league and was still to fat for LB at the end of the season.

If Sean May wants to play let him sign for the minimum and earn his minutes on the court.
His value is low and not signing with the Bobcats will be the end of him in the NBA. No team is going to sign him for 2 Mill. If he doesn't like the situation he finds himself in that it too bad. Last year our HOF head coach gave him every opportunity to prove himself. He chose not to. Could he play? Maybe. That said, the man is a professional and he showed no motivation to meet his bosses expectations. He is lucky to be in the league. Him making demands is not a position any team will take seriously.

So...now that the draft is over ...are we keeping Sean May?
Is there any way to pay him less than the QO ?
I'm starting to think that we may end up keeping him...we still need a backup at the PF. Radman is definitely better suited for the SF spot...

Amour,,, I remember that shit.. funny as hell.
I wasn't saying that May should be paid millions a year by any means. I was simply saying if he can get out on the court and play like he did in the start of the 06 season then he can play his ass off. I know he has had health and weight issues, not arguing that. I was simply stating that it's a decision he will have to make. Once he takes less than a mill a year he is done. Even if he had a breakout year the following contract they would try to give him a low value.
I also stated a lot of guys here would take 750k a year to sit on the bench, but for NBA players 750k is shit. 750k is what you earn when you are 18 yrs in the league and have knees good enough for filler minutes at the end of the half.
I have made no issue hiding the fact I liked May, but I also do not hide the fact that he does owe it to the fans and FO to stay and pay us back for his free ride. If he gets healthy he is the piece we need to win more games. His weight now is lighter than he was at UNC. And he had knee issues then also.
Again, I wasn't saying he is going to play for us for 750k a yr, I simpy said I would not play for that if I was in his shoes. Someone will throw a couple million at him and he knows it. And like others have said in this thread who are we going to get to fill the backup PF position? Until we start winning and making the playoffs we are nothing more but a small market team that nobody wants to come to.
We have draft guys who basically have no choice and disgruntled players from other teams. Couple that with a front office and owner who does not wish to spend any money to entice big names to come and play in the small market with the fucked up TV rights.
Hope i made myself clearer than I did in the earlier post of mine:)

Ok let me try that again. Sean May has been in the league 4 yrs. In those 4 yrs our starting line up should have been Felton, Wallace , May, and Okafor. Sounds a simi good line up. Something worth building on. But May has never been there. This team has needed help at PF since they brought the franchise to Charlotte. He had knee problems at UNC, came to the league and what happens? His knee goes out..twice. Now he is to out of shape and to direspectful to his job to get in what LB calls "game shape". Now that could be running, that could be watching film, that could be going over plays with his team mates. Whatever it is....It's clear Sean May did none of that.
