The trade is Richard Jefferson to the Spurs for Bruce Bowen, Fabricio Oberto and Kurt Thomas ... more coming in just a second. Deal is agreed to in principle with a trade call coming later today

I hate Dickhead Jefferson but that's a good move for the Spurs.

Good move for the Spurs as far as making themselves better. The 3 Contracts Bucks get expire after this year, so that will free up over $11 mil for 2010. As if they will be a major player in FA that year.

It's even better than that for the Bucks as Oberto & Bowen are unguaranteed:

Sham Sports (http://www.shamsports.com/content/pages/data/salaries/spurs.jsp)

It doesn't make them players so much as it allows them to cover the QO for Sessions & CV. Before this went down they were looking at losing BOTH because either offer would have put them over the luxury tax.

And if the Bucks cut Bowen, he will wait and then resign with the Spurs at lower money. They will have basically given up squat to get RJ. A really good move. They need more fire power to compete in the West, and just got it.

Bill Plashcke says it's comparable to the Gasol trade in value for the Spurs...I'm not going that far but it's a steal.
