The Panthers announced this afternoon that defensive end Julius Peppers signed his offer sheet and will play for the team this season. A conference call has been scheduled for this afternoon.

Peppers' agent, Carl Carey, told the Observer that : "Julius is more than satisfied with the outcome and is prepared and ready to play football."

Per sml1950 over at Panthers Huddle

NFL Network is reporting that Peppers is now open to signing a long term contract and the Panthers are working toward this end. The fellow who is apparently replacing Scheter as the inside info reporter said that he has solid knowledge that this is being discussed.

Look for this to be in the range of Haynesworth contract which boiled down to 4 yr/$48 million with $41 mil guarenteed. My guess is a $105 million contract which fleshes out at 4 yr/ $50 million with $44 million guaranteed.

Well they said on ESPN he'd made amends, but since we've offered him to be ther highest paid defensive player already I'll just take anything with 3+ years on it and see what the market has for him...

I'm not up to date on what that really means for this year...Is he still getting a million per game? Or is that deal put on ice since he's supposely going to sign long term.

Yep If he doesn't extend for 3+ it would be 1 year 16 mill the NFL Network reports that he wants a long term though if we are paying him that much I want him long term.

Can total more than that, if he reaches his incentives it could total 19.183 mill.

That's crazy....He better play like he did last year. Actuall he needs a better season to get the fans back on his side. He's still a monster on the field so I'm happy to have back. But in real life he's a arrogant prick. My sister knows him and i dated a girl who was a sports trainer for UNC. He better bring something special to this season or thats bascially 20 mill pissed away.
