Does the bobcats staff even care about free agents anymore. So many have been taken. Like Allen Iverson etc. Do you think there going to pick one or are they just going to sit there and hope the team improves next year? :g:

Jordan has said that he prefers to improve the team through the draft and/or trades and then fill in the holes with mid to low level free agents if necessary. Big name free agents are usually on the bottom of his list of "to do's".

I think the biggest free agent we'll get is Sean May and that'll be because he wants to stay in Carolina and prove himself playing under the vet minimum.
We're not getting Iverson and we're not going to make a deal...a reality a Bobcats fan must accept.

Honestly I am not that upset about not getting any free agents. Most of the guys who have been signed so far got overpaid (turkyglue, gotart, ariza) Bass would be nice but there is a good chance Sean May could be better than Bass next season.

I think we'll offer May a NON-guaranteed vet minimum contract...this way we have a few months to see if he's will/able to play at the NBA level, and if not we didn't waste much cash (similar to signing a D-leaguer at the end of the season). I wouldn't give him a guaranteed 1 year at any price point, its too risky...if he sucks/gets hurt, we cut him and move on.
posted it earlier this week, may looked just as out of shape and not serious about playing defense as he did during the season. granted, it is a pro-am summer league, but i watched him clown around all last season on the bench. i just don't get the impression he cares a whole lot about basketball past the $$.

can you offer him a one year that is less than the qualifying offer?

Yeah, we already let that pass. The qualifying offer is to retain his rights. Now he is a UFA and we can offer him anything.

If May is indeed healthy and even close to in shape he could indeed be better than Bass. There is probably a larger chance that Bass will be better. We will see what happens. But I don't think Bass makes us that different either way. Sean May has the potential to make more of a difference.

May and healthy in the same sentence...man, what are you on?

I have the same feeling as May will be brought back. I think we end up with a pf such as Gooden, Frye or at a stretch we could end up with Big Baby. May would be used for depth and injury situations. I was upset about all the signings and trades while we sit and do nothing but it might actually pan out that we get a couple of players with our mid level and annual bi salaries. Think, Grant Hill was offered 1.9 mill from the Knicks we offer 2.1 and we have a grand slam behind Wallace for the 3 spot.
I think Hill is too old...
If we want an injured PF, instead of May get Powe.
If we're spending money, get Big Baby.

I'd love to have Grant Hill to back up Wallace as well but do you really think $200,000 would make the enough difference for Grant Hill to base his decision upon $$$? I don't think so.

with everythang goin on right now it seems like our FA list is pretty slim to choose from...im still hoping to sign either big baby (which i doubt), AI (not a NEED, but id still like him here), or drew gooden (who hasnt been mentioned all offseason)...anybody know if gooden has had any interest from anybody?
Does nobody besides me like Leon Powe? he'd be cheaper than any of these guys, better when he plays, and gives us a man down low...

He's out til like February. Risky to pick him up unless it's at the minimum and you have an extra roster spot wasting away.
I really like Powe a lot but like Spectre said, very risky with his injury.
IDK about February, the way he was talking to me was like the first month of the season.
And we might be able to get him for the minimum at this point.

Still less risky than May. There is absolutely no need to bring him back, rather gamble on someone else. Of course Sean leaving means a bankruptcy threat to fast foods in town but that is another story.

Maybe we can spot a player in summer league that can help us. I think the Celtics are going to invite Chris Lofton, a 3pt specialist, to camp after a good summer league. If he becomes available I think he could be a good pickup. He played last year in Turkey and was the third leading scorer in that league. Lofton scored 61 points during his best game making 17 of 22 3s. In another game he scored 47 points and made 13 3s.

I think Lofton is a nice candidate for the scrubs we're going to end up signing. Looks to be a nice shooter and maybe he can be like Eddie House was for Charlotte and currently is for Boston.

I hate Sean May so much I hope they resign him just so we can keep up the fat jokes. I don't care if he actually produce's next year, I will be the lone hater standing.
I've noticed most posters call Sean by his full name. No real nick name, just random fat comments. I don't think there's a single person left that still really respects Sean May as a basketball player. He had known knee problems and has done nothing over his entire NBA career or even college to correct it. Now once again he's supposely healthy. And expects this team to invest more time and money into him. Why? Cause he might leave and produce somewhere else? So what, Use that money on another player with better character. One that respect's his job and what it means to be a pro. Someone that doesn't take an entire basketball season plus the summer to get in to "basketball shape". Now if he was still having knee problems I might be more forgiving. But he wasn't.....
.... Ashamed of Sean May

Nate Robinson is about to sign a one year qualifying offer with the knicks we should offer him a contract and hope the knicks don't match. We could do something that has a high salary the second year so it would mess up there free agency in 2010 if they match.
He is going to sign for 2.9 mil with the knicks

why spend more money on another undersized guard? and by undersized, i mean 5'8''. if we spend our money, i hope it's at the pf spot. between felts, dj and jefferson the pg spot is secure and raja + henderson should secure the sg position.
