After tomorrow at 4 PM the team can't work towards signing Peppers towards an extension until after the regular season.

Crap! I cant see us going through another off season like this one. And he is not worth being paid the highest money of any D-Lineman in the NFL. Trade his ass for what we can get and move on. He is not going to be the difference in us being a Super Bowl team or not, and I dont want to see him walk next year for nothing. I wish he wanted to play for us, but his situation is what stopped us from any FA signings. Time to move on. Jon and Kate split, so should the Panthers and Peppers.

I agree to the trade idea, but AFTER this season. He signed a 1 year deal with us, and he will hopefully be motivated to get the big bucks elsewhere next year. I think a lot of our leverage depends on Everett Brown. If he can bring the pressure then that gives us a fallback plan to get at least a 1st for Pep next year. Only downfall is he is 29, so you can't expect the same compensation that KC got for Jared Allen from Minnesota.

Reesie: The problem is that if we wait until next year, we will not be permitted to discuss trading him until he signs another Franchise Tender which we would have to offer at $20 mil. It will be tough enough trading him to someone else this season at ove $16 mil. Until he signs the Franchise Tender, the Panthers are not permitted to speak with other teams about trading him. That is why nothing happened this off season leading to the draft. We could not talk with anyone, and Pepper's agent was getting him no talks with any other teams so that Peppers and his agent could start a 3 way discussion of a trade.
