(If mods want to put this in Off Topic Forum, feel free....thought this'd get more views if I put it here, and it's an interesting enough story that others may want to read it.)

Last night me and dad were coming back from doing some chores around his fiancees house while she's out of town, and on the way home stop off at the K&W (a cafeteria style restaurant for those not in the know!) on Peters Creek, and as we're coming out, we check out this pretty sweet black luxury car parked beside us with Texas plates. I joke to dad and tell him, "Wow, look, Josh Howard's parked beside us," just making a not illogical conclusion seeing as how it's a fancy car, Texas plates, Winston-Salem during the off-season, and such, but not enough to be taken seriously, right?

Anyway, we're just getting ready to get in the car, and dad tells me, "There's Josh," and I start to laugh, but then look behind me and see....you guessed it, Josh. Me and dad say hey to him and tell him, as a hometown kid, we're glad for his success and hope the Mavs have a good year except when they play the Cats. We're getting into our cars at the same time, and I look at the damn good legroom he's got in his car, while I'm struggling to get into the passenger side of my dad's coupe. I ask him if I can have some of that legroom, and he laughs and tells me to come sit in his car.

First of all, no, there was no stench of pot ;). Secondly, my god, what comfort. He tells me it's a Maybach (since I'm not a car dude, I never heard of it) and I'm looking inside and it's pure luxury...like I could live in the damn thing. I told him, "Not that I can afford it, but you wouldn't happen to want to sell this to me for a discount, would you?" He laughed and said, "No. No."

So I reluctantly get out, then we shake hands tell each other to take care, and that's how Josh Howard had the fortune to hang with The Beagle for about 7 minutes.

He has a bad wrap amongst Bobcat fans because he'd only ever be acquired at the expense of Crash, but I think Howard would be the face of the franchise for sure if things were different.

Glad to read that you had a cool experience with him.

Everything I've read about Josh has been good, just like all the Wake guys. He's gotten a bad rap on the pot, just like anyone else who does it. I'm no pot smoker, but what J-Rich did with his daughter in the back seat got far less press than what Josh did on his own without possibly harming anyone, and that's wrong.

But I'm glad for ya Beagle, sounds really cool.

And the maybach is what the Chrysler 300 tried to rip off...legally, whatever. It failed. Like Detroit.

That statement has all sorts of  about it.

First of all, the Chrysler 300 copied the Rolls-Royce Phantom. Maybach isn't a car, it's an automaker branch under Mercedes Benz. They're extremely high end cars that have a base price of around $350K.

And speaking of Detroit, Chevrolet has already sold upwards of 20 thousand Camaros since going into production in March, with thousands of other preorders yet to be filled.

That is so cool. And I am glad he wasn't a jerk or anything. Very cool that he was down to earth with you and your dad.

Really?

Ford posted a $3.2B PROFIT for Q2. Sure looks like Detroit is failing....

Wait a minute. Beagle are you telling us that Josh Howard eats at K&W? I'm just trying to get this sorted out.

Maybe he was getting some of their chicken and dumplings.

Or he wanted to get metal stuck in his tongue so he could sue.

True story.

If Michael Jackson can eat KFC, Josh Howard can eat at the K&W.

(around 4:50) Yeah, the one he's walking past at 5:13 looks just like it, down to the gold Scorpion rims (once again, I know nothing of cars, but it had Scorpion engraved in the center of the rims).

And Keetch, the gal he was with was carrying a to-go box with her, which is what me and dad were doing as well, so, I can't verify he eats "at" K&W, or even that the box the lady was carrying was his or hers, but he did patronize the place and have his coin change come down the little chute like a regular Joe (unless he paid credit card, that is)!

It was a pretty damn surreal experience, especially the fact I was joking that it was his car and it freakin' was.....I can't even imagine the odds on something like that. Really, I mean, I've been fortunate enough to meet a who's who of sports folk over the years, but the coincidence of this was just.....bizarre and will definitely be a lifetime memory.
