Is there any way we could resign Felton in the 7 range pay AI somewhere close to the mid level and avoid the tax? Could we back load Feltons contract until vlad and naz expire?

I think the maximum raise each year is 10.5%, so I don't think it's possible.

Carrolls contract was frunt loaded . It might be a way to back load it enough to make it work . I think we all so have around a milion in a trade exception that might help all so .
With Johnson in control i don't see AI coming to Charlotte unless we let Felton walk.

The difference is front loading doesn't go against the raise rule. You may be right, but I don't think so.

Also, I think trade exceptions only help you with acquiring players in regard to the cap, not the luxury tax.

Not that I would wanto to do that but would we be under luxury tax cap if we sign Felton by QO and bring MLE/near MLE player (Iverson or someone)?

I don't think we'll have the full MLE...more in the 3.5-4.5 range.

Maybe not even that much. TC will make 1 million more than Oak this season. at the very least, Felton will sign offer sheet at 5.5 million, or a contract starting around that amount. That brings us to 66-67 million, which is almost equal to luxury tax limit at 69.9 million. I cannot give exact numbers, because some contract details are still contradictory.

I know a lot of guys here will be pissed at me, but I have to say honestly. As long as Bob Johnson doesn't want to pay luxury tax, stop daydreaming, stop saying AI, stop saying any other guys. Be thankful if we can afford to add Juwan Howard. Say hallelujah if we can sign Hakim Warrick.

If we waive Dontell Jefferson before his contract gets guaranteed, we can save some additional salary and cap space, but it's not known how much or when the deadline is.

Nothing really matters this team is destined for yet another lottery.

With respect to AI, I think that really depends on how cheaply he can be had. Personally, I think he's worth the full MLE, which would definitely preclude us. However, it's almost August and he still doesn't have a contract. It would seem that his bargaining power is growing weaker with each passing day. Perhaps the 3-3.5 mil we have left is enough to land him, that is, if we want him, which is still unclear. IMO, he should have been out #1 target from the start, but I'll save that rant for another thread.
