I wanted thoughts about him as a player, whether we expressed interest, would he be a good fit here, what is his status with the Celtics, could we get a deal done.

my two cents, idk, I saw that we tried to make a play for Warrick, so could he still shopping. The Celtics signed Sheldon Williams, they also signed Rasheed earlier too, I think that they still want Big Baby, I have not heard anything to the contrary but would he have a smaller role now (we all know Sheldon wont be getting more PT than Davis but they did sign him though) Could he be pried away.

He'd absolutely help. Thing is I think the Celtics are putting it out there that they'll match up to the full MLE whether they really him or not...forcing teams interested to explore S&T options.

and we have few/no assets.

i have always looked at big baby as a puppy. kg is the dominate dog and has big baby in line, but out from under his watch, i feel big baby will not be nearly as good. he is short and has weight issues, cries (literally and figuratively) and pouts when things don't go his way and plays well below the rim. i would not spend a whole bunch of money on him.

Big Baby Still Waiting To Find a Destination (http://www.weei.com/sports/boston/celtics/jeff-goodman/2009/08/03/big-baby-still-waiting-find-destination%5BB)

Davis said he’s fielded interest from several teams, including New Jersey, Charlotte, Cleveland and Detroit – although it seems far-fetched that any of those teams will offer Davis anything more attractive than the multi-year deal that has been proposed by Celtics boss Danny Ainge.

But Davis understands that many of the teams are playing the waiting game and seeing where other unrestricted free agents land before dealing with a restricted free agent such as him.

Many teams – according to multiple sources - are also fearful of his weight issues and inability to play above the rim.

The Celtics have the luxury of being able to match any offer that Davis fields and while there’s been speculation that the number that Boston would match lies somewhere in the $3.5 million per season range, Davis is completely in the dark.

"I don’t know what that number is," he said. "I wish I knew."

this is our only real option left for a good reserve Power Forward that can be a starter.

Since Iverson is most likely going to Greece (some team offered him $10 million, i forget who and am too lazy to provide a link) and Raymond will be back since not too many people want to pay him, i say give Big Baby a full MLE for 2-3 years.

He'll be back next year, but I don't think it's because teams don't want to pay him. I think people simply CAN'T pay him. Nobody can pay him more than the MLE and if any team offers him the MLE and he accepts, the Bobcats could match. In fact, the best thing that could happen would be if a team offered him a 5 year MLE contract, which I'm sure we'd match.

Tomato-Tomatoe

Point being: we both agree he will be back. Now lets hurry up and sign Big Baby before somebody else does.

i'm not a huge fan of big baby, he stepped up this year with the celtics, but has he really shown that he can consistently put up numbers ? .. i think of it as being a gamble..kinda like getting nazr hoping that it will pay off

http://www.realgm.com/src_wiretap_archives/61001/20090806/big_baby_showing_frustration_with_celtics/

The Boston Celtics have played a waiting game on Glen Davis during his restricted free agency, which has led to frustration on his part. Davis even posted his frustration Tuesday night on Twitter.

As evidenced by his tweets, Davis’ angst was tweaked in part by the C’s signing of free agent power forward Shelden Williams to a veterans minimum contract earlier this week. A league source also confirmed the Celtics finally started discussing numbers with Davis in the past week and made an offer that was considered disappointing by the player’s camp.

The Boston Herald compiled his most recent tweets:

“Why is this (thing) taking so long!!! I really don’t understand!!!!”

“Anybody know what’s going on with the Celtics? Cause I don’t!”

“Well I’m not worried about Shelden!!! Great guy and great player!!! But we are different players you know!!!!!”

“I wonder how the weather (is in) Boston cause I haven’t been there in so long!!!!”

“I like some of you guys’ ideas!!!! (I’m) going to tell Danny (Ainge) about some of you guys’ ideas!!!! I don’t know why then they sign (Williams) before me!!”

“Well I don’t know where I’m going to be!!! Where (you) guys think I’m going to be!!! Who needs a pf?”

We tried real hard to get warrick....maybe we will show some love to baby an he'll wanna sign

I know he's not a perfect fit for LB or the Cats, but he really could have been a good piece for us to get. It's frustrating to see how easy it could have been for them to win him over. Larry better have a good plan for the season, cuz this off-season hasn't been great.
