View Full Version : Summary of the Bobcats
Aussie Bobcat

Hi there, I am an Australian basketball and NBA fan. Until recently I have not followed a team in the NBA, only the league in general. But I thought it would make it more interesting if I started backing a team. So, wouldn't you believe it, I chose the Bobcats!
As you can imagine, there is very little (OK, no) coverage of the Bobcats in Australia. I am hoping to learn as much as I can about the History of the Bobcats, and am going to get League Pass (Anyone got it? Is it worth it?) so I can watch some Bobcats (And other teams) games.
I was just hoping you guys could give me a quick summary of the Bobcats history and their current players (Strengths, weaknesses, where they are from, etc) that you can't really find by looking on a statsheet.
Thanks, and go Bobcats!

Welcome!
League Pass is the bomb. If the carrier hadn't blocked out Bobcats' games locally on LP I'd still have it today.
If you get it...most likely you'll get to see more games than most of us locally; at least those an hour outside of Charlotte.

We just got Tyson Chandler, he's no Luc Longley but he'll do!
No, really, lots of convoluted crap out there involving this team but they're a great group of guys, play hard. Team is in transition as it has been from the beginning...searching for a new owner. This is starting to look like my notes for a blog. Hmmmm, slow summer, lets do a summary blog!

Welcome! I'd highly recommend going through the wiki, and after that, maybe just reading a couple of the blogs on the home page. And if you go to the Hall of Fame forum, Amour217's photoshops are more than worth your while. Once again welcome, and enjoy it. If you need anything, we'd be gald to help you!

It is.
Thanks for the Wiki link!
EDIT: Does anyone know where I can download Bobcats games. Preferably from the 08/09 season?

Hmm, AMPsportsduo may still have some, but other than that I have no clue. If there is anything, it's probably in Chinese or French, and from the other team...

I'm not surprised. If you're going to start anywhere, might as well start at the very-trading every player-suckass bottom.
It's good for the rest of us because we can start over and still be here afterwards.

Didn't want to create a new thread...and in a drunken state you might could see a relation between the thread topic and this post...:p
Head straight to gate for sign of weakness in NBA money machine (http://www.cbssports.com/nba/story/11934840)
The Bucks were one of only five teams in the league to generate less than $500,000 in gate receipts per home game, according to the data. The Pacers, Hawks, Timberwolves and Grizzlies were the others. Only the Hawks made the playoffs.
Notice which team isn't in that list. Not sayin we're setting the world on fire by any means...but not being in the bottom five and being such a small market AND the ridiculous TV fiasco since our inception I'm pretty happy we're not in the bottom 5.
Now the bad:
Paid tickets are good, but teams prefer to fill seats with people who are paying for parking and concessions. The teams that struggled the most to get people through the turnstiles last season were Memphis (7,570 per game), Minnesota (8,969), Charlotte (9,404), Indiana (10,057), Sacramento (10,188 ), Milwaukee (10,884) and Washington (11,030).
The top is MUCH better than the bad of the bottom.

Figured this was a good heading for posting Hoopsworld's Charlotte Bobcats 2009-2010 Preview (http://www.hoopsworld.com/Story.asp?story_id=13841)
Every damn one of 'em picks us to be 5th in the Southeast...even Bill Ingram (dude...), but the subheadings are pretty good and probably the best breakdowns I've seen this summer. They list "Top of the List", "Who We Like", "Strengths", "Weaknesses" & "What Needs to be Said on Opening Day" by Mike Moreau.
Overall a pretty good write up.
^Only Ingram actually knew shit about this team.
But who cares what they say...if predictions were right, what would be the fun in them?
