Based on the French sports newspaper "l'équipe" the big brother of Mickael Pietrus could come to Charlotte. Larry brown who spent 2 weeks with the French national team in July seems to be really impressed by Florent. He also asked for the tape of the First official game against Italy in which he was the best player for France (20 pt 7rbd). Boris who played with Florent in "Pau" before his NBA career seems also pushing in that direction.
It's far from a done deal but it's interesting and I can tell you this French is not soft at all referring to a previous thread .

from the minor quick research i did, he's a 6'7'' pf. with ups already here, i'd hate to boggle down his learning curve and our roster with a 28 year old undersized pf. diaw isn't a banger and if we are indeed looking to add another pf, i'd rather do it with more of a strong, properly sized player. florent pietrus is talented from what i saw, but mikael (sp) is the better pietrus. idk, ILBIT is going to have to be the sentiment here.

Is he a swingman like Mickael or potential backup four? What type of player is he?

Outlook:
A forward who likes the 4 an d the 5 positions, but who is probably undersized to play at top level there; very athletic, great leaper, with great timing for the rebounds; needs to add some perimetral skills
Florent is not a soft player by any means, but after thinking about him awhile, I became a little suspicious. His athleticism is covering his lack of size in Europe, but in NBA, he'd be very exposed.
He reminds me another great European baller Maceo Baston, who is a superior athlete but failed make an impact in NBA. And Florent has never been as great as Baston with Maccabi. Even I think Flo's career might be declining after Unicaja Malaga.
But our FO's lack of courage to make a signing really pissed me off, so I want Florent to be here, he'd help as a bench player.

I totally agree with that. Florent is a undersized 4. He can play 3 mostly defensively. In one had his career is indeed declining in spain where his athleticism is not realy used by teams. In the other hand when he plays for France he is the best defensive player and surprisingly good in offence.
He is a warrior, playing for the team first, and he can be effective now, not in 2-3 years like Ajinca.
I would say he could be a kind of Malik Rose in the great years with the spurs....with maybe more shoot....maybe.

Rumor of the day : Florent Piétrus to the Bobcats?
We always thought Florent Piétrus (2m01, 28 ans) could become an NBA player. He can defend the 3 and 4 spots, and through the years, he improved his midrange jumper.
Even if he's still under contract with Valencia, the older of the Piétrus brothers could realize his dream this summer and could join his brother in the nba.
According to lequipe: Larry Brown has a man-crush for Flo’ and he may give him a chance with the bobcats. Proof of his interest, he has asked to the french staff the tape of the game against Italy.
Clearly, Flo’ could have a spot with the bobcats. Sean May gone, he could become the 3rd or 4th bigman behind Chandler and Diaw.
I'd rather have Juwan re-signed and UPS and AA get some court time rather than bringing in an under-sized 28 year old "man-crush"...I for one saw enough "man-crushes" brought in last year (then cut from the team)...UPS, Vlad, and Juwan are enough for me at this point if we can't (or will not) sign a legit NBA back-up PF...and most (if not all) have been signed by other teams...give UPS and AA the time!
Powe > Juwan > Florent > nobody

From our man at the Observor.
^I doubt then that anyone comes in before Ray now. And if Lexy is our 4 backup, we're screwed.

thats a link to the games the french team has played this summer. Its seems the guy can put up some good numbers on the national team. plus he gets a good amount of playing time. never know, this guy could turnout to be a diamond in the rough. Plus i think Brown is with the french national team so you know he has probably signed off on this guy
playoffs...PLAYOFFS?

Like bonnel hints in his article...this will all depend on how quickly we sign RF and how much we pay him. Anyone know how much pietrus makes? I also wonder if his team would release him..

I don't know how much Pietrus makes, but I predict he makes veteran minimum of NBA at most. He's not a top-tier player here either, don't get confused with the money that Childress of Kleiza make.
I don't think his buyout would be a problem. Unlike the NBA, buyout is a problem only for young aspects like Rubio or Splitter. Not for veterans like Pietrus. But he's signed through this season with his current club, Pamesa Valencia and some negotiations have to take part to release him.
If only Bob Johnson wouldn't be that cheap and we would have been able acquire David Andersen, instead of Rockets. Such a great addition he would have been :(

Pietrus is making 510 000 euros each year. I don't know the cost of the buy out.
