Bobcats Planet name: bing!
Real name (first only): Adnan
Age: 23
Current City: Tuzla
Hometown: Tuzla
Occupation: undergrad student/part-time interpreter/translator
1) How did you choose your screen name?
Chandler: No, no, you’re right, it is a ridiculous name!
Joey: It’s not that bad.
Chandler: Yes it is! From now on, I have no first name.
Joey: So, you’re just Bing?
2) Could you tell us a little about where you grew up and about your family?
- Well, I popped into existence in Tuzla and have lived there with my parents and my 5 years older brother ever since (though the folks spend most of their time now at the summer house. I remember fighting with my bro all the time (he'd be Jean Claude Van Damme and I'd be Tong Po, which meant I had to lose every time). Rather run of the mill childhood, plenty of sports, sibling rivalry, puberty, video games and a four year long civil war (which, luckily, I have managed to perceive in an obscure way thanks to my rich/sick imagination)... the last part doesn't really fit with all the run of the mill mumbo-jumbo, oh well.
3) Did you play in any sports or where you involved with any High School clubs and such?
- Basketball, have played it and still do, three times a week at least. I've also dabbled in handball and soccer (I was a part of my grade school handball team where everyone thought I was a natural due to my lanky frame and long arms, but that didn't pan out (partly because I hated it)).
4) What is your fondest memory of your teenage years?
- The awkwardness of my first date (the fact that I failed to repress it makes it ever more endearing). I'm still friends with her.
5) What was your first job?
- I've never held a job, per se, but the first time I earned money was translating a game for some of the older guys back when I was younger (it was the original Resident Evil... or was it Clock Tower?).
6) What lead to your dedicated following of the Bobcat's?
- The next Larry Bird... I'm not kidding, I was completely oblivious to anything NBA related since 2000-2001 until I ran into some info regarding the one and only. Then, he was drafted by the Bobcats (I wondered whatever happened to the Hornets), after that I got to familiarise myself with the roster and the team's short history and fell in love.
7) Could you tell us one of your favorite memories of the Bobcat's?
- April 26, 2008 (the departure of our dear Biscuit)... and reading Matty's "awwwww, I didn't know" comment after he grabbed that last rebound away from Mek, thus depriving him of his first triple-double.
8 ) How did you find the Bobcats Planet and what keeps you active on the site?
- One of the blogs on Yahoo had a rundown on various sites/blogs/message boards related to NBA teams, and BCP was on the list for the Bobcats, a click here, a click there, I joined the forum. After lurking for a while, I noticed the lively atmosphere and jolly (if a bit cheeky) discussions goin' on and decided to jump right in. What keeps me active on the site to this day? Well, I'll put it this way, BCP is a rather deep swimming pool... and I swim like a rock.
9) What other sports teams do you follow?
- NBA: Memphis & Oklahoma; Euroleague: TAU Ceramica (now known as Caja Laboral)
10) When you’re not on Bobcats Planet what could you likely be found doing with your spare time?
- On the web: surfing sports & gaming related sites, uploading content on a news server provided by my ISP, playing classic RTS games via hamachi...
- Off the web: games (yet again), basketball, studying (yes, I study in my free time), spending nights out with my friends...
11) If you could have one moment being part of the Bobcats organization, what would it be?
- A shooting guard, Raja would high five me as I enter the court to be demolished by the opposing players.
12) How many trips have you made to the Time Warner Cable Arena?
- uhmmm, zero (Atlantic Ocean, you know).
13) What is your worst fear?
- Drowning, I dread large bodies of water.
14) What type of hobbies do you enjoy?
- As mentioned earlier, bball & video games (I was also writing short stories for a while, but that was a short-term engagement).
15) What’s your favorite food?
- Fried chicken, raw veal, fish barbecue... to put it simply... the entire spectrum of fauna.
16) Where are some of the places you’ve been, and where are some of your favorites?
- Barcelona, Venice, Verona... my favourite place... home sweet home.
17) What is one thing you've always wanted to do, but haven't done yet in your lifetime?
- Visiting Tokyo, and before you ask, no, I'm not a weeaboo.
18 ) If you could live anywhere where would it be?
- London. Lousy weather suits my persona.
19) Name your favorite 3 Bobcats all time and explain the reason for one of them.
- Ammo (for introducing the Bobcats to me)
- Gerald (the only player who will retire a Bobcat)
- Matt (you know 'nice' guys, well, he was just that)
20) Up to this date, what is one of your favorite Bobcats Planet memories?
- Coping with our beloved insider-troll.
21) Anything else you'd like to add?
- Nada, just that I'm happy to be a part of this community.
Who would you like to nominate to be interviewed next?
- I think we should keep up with the international flavour, so Tamb.
