He just dropped a 9.58 seconds world record in the 100 meters the other day :o.

To wrap my brain around how fast that really is, I'm trying to compare him to some of the fastest guys in the NFL, The Randy Moss, Chris Johnson types who were clocked in the 4.1-ish range.

So, what do you think his 40 time would be?

Pardon me, 40 yards should be 36 meters in metric system as far as I guess :) But I don't think Bolt would be the fastest guy in this distance, since he's very tall and naturally slow starter. Tyson Gay or Asafa Powell are probably faster than at the beginning.

I think 200 meters is much suitable to Bolt's style, in my point of view, his 19.30 at 200m is as legendary as 9.58 in 100m.

When he ran the 9.58 he had the lead from the jump and was already pulling away at 20 meters. As for converting that to a 40 yard dash, my crude early morning math gives me something like a 3.5

Yeah, if he kept that pace consistently he'd be at 3.4967

That's superhuman. Jeez. What's the fastest 40 time?

^ if he were to enter the 40 yard stretch with full momentum, probably yes.

Wow! a sub 3.5 second 40 yard dash.... :hypo:

That boggles my mind to even think about it.

No the 9.58 takes into account his start and the time it takes for him to reach full speed.

But I guess it would be better to time the 9.58 time and cut it at the 40 yard mark and see his time. If that's possible? YouTube maybe?

Yeah, imagine clocking just his fastest 40 yards. That would be pretty damn close to 3.

The guy has just broken the 200m world record with 19.19. I watched it live, he's no human, that much is certain.

A much, MUCH more impressive feat than his 9.58. By a long shot

ESPN just did a reel about Bolt trying out for the Giants. They said they were going to time his 40... It then turned into a joke reel. ESPN, wtf, a 0.0 40?

Hard to guess his 40 time by video. He's never running full speed through the line. I wouldn't either if i was that far ahead.
