Spurs fans are saying that Brown was impressed by Ian Mahimni over in France. This is the spurs seldom used 2005 first round draft pick. He is still very young and hasn't been able to play due to nagging injuries (nothing career threatening). He is atleast 6 10 long, skinny, and an athletic freak. He is compared physically to david robinson back when robinson was drafted. He definitely needs to add pounds but he could be the answer to our hole at the four spot. The spurs fans for some reason are interested in Bell. Being a fan of both teams I don't see why they would want another two guard, but they are proposing Bell for Ian plus either Finley, Bonner, or Mason to make salaries work. Obviously Mason is the one you want. Finley is way too old and Bonner is only good at shooting the three (although Brown would admire his hustle). Mason would give us a legit starting two who can shoot the lights out, create his own shot, and play some tough D. He has trouble finishing at the rim and disappeared in the playoffs but this guy is still a great player.
Personally I believe the spurs would be more interested in one of our centers. Up front they have Duncan, Dice, Blair, Bonner, Ratliff, Mahimni, and Haslip. Blair is unproven. Bonner is a huge defensive liability on a team that loves defense. Ratliff is old. Haslip bounced out of the pros already. Amd Mahimni has yet to really play pro ball. I think they may be more interest in one of our backup centers. Diop is one of the better Duncan defenders and no one knows that better than Popovich. Also they won a championship with Nazr once already. They talked about Alexis for Ian but I am confident that won't happen.
