I have us at 12-8...and I think it's possible to win both the WAS & POR games (esp. Portland) and possibly eek out a win in one of the Orlando games. If I'm not mistaken Lewis will be out in the first meeting. On the flip I could see us losing at Detroit.

It took me a while to digest the Emeka/Chandler deal, but in the end I believe that Larry Brown knows what he is doing.

I'm going on record as an optimist, and 12-8 sounds just about right for our first 20 games.

I looked at it from both points of view. The most optimistic record I could honestly see is 16-4. The most pessimistic record I could bring myself to see was 7-13. When I average the two, I come up with 11.5-8.5.

Spectre is right on the Orlando and Rashard Lewis thing. Lewis misses our first game against them and his 1st game back is our second game against them.

Hey Zig, could a poll be added to this? A very simple 2 choices...Optimist or Pessimist.

Thanks.

Win 11
Loss 9

Like Dave said, as long as Chandler is healthy then we'll be fine. To me this is optimistic though. I could see us being anywhere between 8-12 to 12-8 just because we've always had a tendency to start slowly. Maybe we can change that this year.

I may not have liked the Chandler/Okafor trade value wise at the time but as a player when he is healthy I've liked his game more than Okafor's (even though most fans and media don't say that now, they sure did when he was on the Olympic Qualifying team) and I am dying to see him in actiion with our Cats. I'm excited to see how Henderson will do as well, I hope he impresses us early in pre-season along with DJ giving us a reason to be amped about our bench.

7 optimists vs. 0 pessimists so far.

That is one of the many reasons why I love this board.

I know it's bold, I am seeing us at 13-7....I expect Washington to take a little time to get used to their revamped roster/Arenas to fully return...and I don't buy that they will stay healthy anyway. Orlando game could go either way, Boston at home could go either way. I think our team is just too hungry to begin the season sub-par.

I like your numbers, though I think we'll probably drop one we should win.

I'll take 11 wins and still be on the side of optimism.

It would be cool if bobcats planet had a contest to see who could get closest to the win total for next season. I would guess 51 games.

Cool. Maybe Ziggy can set up a vBet thing for 1 through 82. (actually, you can probably eliminate 1-15 and 65-82 to slim it down some.)

i am very optimistic coming in. i feel like if chandler is indeed healthy then our team is looking good. the difference btwn him and okafor will net (intended) more positives for our style of team than negatives. plus, we've had a solid draft and everybody has had a year to develop chemistry. at worst, we have some new threads to please our eyes until we play orlando and i keep forgetting which team is which.

How about realist in lieu of the options given? There's just so many teams we historically struggle against in these opening games (Hawks of late, Magic, Celts of late, Cavs, Bucks, Raptors, Pistons, and even the Nets) it's hard to see an above .500 record after 20, especiallly considering the slow starts we get off to.

Is it enough to say I HOPE we are at 12-8? :(

I think we can win the game where Orlando comes to us. Rashard wont be playing due to his suspension. 12-8 is my guess for the first 20, after that i am not sure what we will be like. The lack of a scorer scares me, but maybe a improved DJ/Henderson will fit that bill.

I'll take the optimistic side too. I think 11 wins is about right for the first 20.

I'm very excited to see how the addition of Chandler allows LB to use the pressing defense that he couldn't quite do with Okafor. That should open up some running opportunites for Wallace, Felton, DJ, Henderson and Chandler. A few more easy points on the board with the abiltiy to really disrupt opposing offenses. That's someting I'm really looking forward to.

I'm very excited about this season, but the strength of our division is also slowly starting to sink in.

Still, I'm glad we'll be playing frequently against strong competition. If we do make the playoffs, we should be prepared.

I think we'll go 14-6. Which, of course, means we won't.

But I am very positive as long as we're healthy.

No take backs!

Hopefully he'll be back like Teej is thinking. Hell, he can probably use the rest.

Kind of a side topic, but I wonder if it's really that good of a thing for Boris to be playing with France from our perspective (discounting injury). Tho I haven't watched them, he pretty much has to take a passive role because of the other dominant players on that team...which is totally opposite of how we need him to play with us.

Wouldn't it be better if he spent the summer dominanting a JV team? At least he'd be practicing his role.

Sure there is, when training camp hasnt even started yet and one of our starters is already hurt? No one even knows if he is hurt worse or not. There needs to be a limit on how much non NBA games these guys are allowed to play in.... In theroy every body on the team could get injured before training camp starts and that would really suck....

^That's why Cuban kept Dirk from playing.

But hey, if we can't play without him now, what happens late in the year when Raja goes down, or Gerald gets another concussion?

davcbow
09-20-2009, 07:01 PM
Yeah but you dont want to go and break your starters leg to see if you can play with out him.

I think we will go 11 - 9 over the first 20 games and finally we won't be playing the middle and end of the season in catch up mode. Eveen if we start 10 - 10, I would consider that a positive thing.

Playing for one's country is a funny thing...you sure don't want to tell a player they can't do it, but it sure does stink when someone gets hurt. Hopefully, Diaw will be back before the season starts.
