I know a lot of you guys out there are NBA 2K fans and are planning on buying the new game when it drops in October. I've really been into the Draft Combine mini game (although, I can't seem to figure out how to get his rating above 50 or so). I found the list of player ratings and decided to post how our guys stack up:

Doing the math gives the Bobcats an average player rating of 67.

I'd say SG is the only one where we're given a fair rating.

Ray and DJ are wholly underrated (behind Delonte and NATE???)

Gerald is better than a 78, although he seems to be in decent company, UPS is faily rated.

Boris got screwed, he's better than Mek and Rondolph, and Radman is better than May.

TC is better than Jermaine and Oden, so maybe a 76? Nazzy is a little better, Gana is just right.

Are Lexy and Flip not on the game?

they apparently have changed their rankings SIGNIFICANTLY from last year. will be interesting to see, but that is rough. what do you expect though? theyll upgrade them as the season goes on

Those have to be old ratings. DJ was 70 as a unknown rookie but no way would they give him a 70 again. Raja is a 81 on my 2k game, so i'll will just make up my own numbers....

Kat they changed the ratings significantly this year to be much more harsh on all players in general. We did, however, seem to get screwed in every position but SF.

1. No way is Johnny Flynn as good as Ray, and no way are West and Nate better.

2. No way is Shannon Brown a 67 and Raja only a 71. No way are Williams and Evans 71 already.

4. No fucking way is Diaw only a 72 when Ben Wallace's ancient ass is a 71 and no way is Radman worse than Josh McRoberts, Sean May, Taylor Griffin, Shelden Williams, and Mensah-Bonsu.

5. No way is Chandler worse than Kurt Thomas, Dalembert, Perkins, Oden, and J O'Neal.

Yeah Wallace's rating is pretty good.....but dang, Durant should be higher!

No way Adam is the second worst SF in the NBA....there is just NO WAY. Even you guys must admit....

But also remember that they change these ratings via online updates as the season goes on so.....

And the ratings can go as low as like 25 this year so its not the same as normal and they did this because it will be more realistic if they great players are noticably better (Kobe, Bron, Wade, DH12, KG) than the lower end players(Ryan Bowen, James White, Shelden Williams)

Ok, I know this isn't about the ratings or 2K itself, but I can't quite seem to find (or remember if I did) the answer to this...

I've seen the gameplay vids of 2K and the NBA Today commentary is something I really like; either online or in your offline association. Does anybody know if Live does this as well? I always go back and forth trying to decide between the two every year and this is a feature I like. Any info would be greatly appreciated. And sorry for the threadjack.

To make it more on topic...those ratings seem pretty harsh, but if everyone's rated in the same fashion, then I guess it's fair. Does seem a little rough, though.

They have done the ratings well this year. It's not based on head to head who is better, it's based on strengths and weaknesses.

EG: Nate might be a better shooter and dunker etc than Ray, but Ray is better at a whole lot of other stuff and you can improve on players areas to be better.

Those ratings suck. I refuse to believe thats the actual grading scale. Until I see the "offical" game ratings I'll take those ratings with a grain of salt.


It's very doubtful they will have the new uniforms since the game comes out next month and the offical pictures for the jersey's were just posted this month.

Wallace doesn't have the dreads or a mouthpiece.

All ratings now go from 25-99 instead of 50-99 like they used to. It should help to create a bigger gap between different types of players from Superstars, Allstars, Role Players and Specialists.

When looking at these ratings you should really ignore the overall. Like always 2K's overall rating is influenced mostly by the the Off & Def Awareness ratings. Swedd that is why your draft combine player is having a hard time increasing his overall. If you'd put all your points into those then your rating would sky rocket however you really wouldn't be a better player. Focus on what ratings you want to increase first and then later come back to the Off & Def awareness rating if you want to.

New uniforms are in as well although they may have messed the collar up. Felton's looks fine but the last pic of Chandler's collar is way off. Hopefully it's been fixed.

I really hope Ajinca makes it into the game. They had him last year, but the pic didn't look anything like him and his ratings were terrible. He should be one of the trashiest players in the game given he is so tall and he can shoot and dunk.

Oddly on last years team one of the most effective players for me is Vlad... I drill three after three from the corner even on hall of fame after my buddy turns the three slider down a couple of notches.

Which is a great addition, 2k9 did it as well, not sure if 82games was involved though. I think once the season starts you'll see some of the bobcats ratings increase.

82games was not involved last year. 2k (wrongly) gave total control to the 2kinsider, which lead to hilarious nicknames on os (namely: PortlandBlazer + Nogster= OS Outsiders and Rashidi dubbing himself TheREAL2kInsider)

May never reached 260. In fact, he just got paid for getting down to 261. This supports your post further.

It would have been nice if the guy that was playing with the Bobcats new what the hell he was doing. You could actually see what the players could do. The guy just stood there till the clock ran down. That's ok, I'm getting it tomorrow!! I can't wait. 2K10 comes out and the Bobcats play their first game. It's like Christmas eve!!

I'll be honest, I was really bored and disappointed with last year's iteration (sp?) and have found this current console generation of sports games a pain in the ass to play (what with the having to mash three buttons simulatenously plus pulling the left analog stick up and the left stick in a counterclockwise swirl just to get the guy to put up a layup, for example), and was planning on skipping this year, but damn, the presentation looks so much improved, the in game dialogue likewise improved, the new unis, and the TWC actually looks like the TWC (the exception of the tunnels, but that's about all I could tell, and even that's nitpicky...probably don't have the Jumper Classic banner or Andrea Stinson jersey in the rafters either....and if they did, I'd be scared of their dedication to accuracy).

I'm already committed to buying the military sim/FPS, Operation Flashpoint tomorrow, but I might just talk myself into getting 2K as well...if not, I'll be scouring half.com for a good deal in the weeks to come. Good stuff!

If anybody thinks of it, post reviews on gameplay, graphics, and arena authenticity, etc......please.

The ratings are based on last season, and Ajinca did well, not a lot last season. His rating should be higher, or at least comparable to Radman's, and I'm sure once the season is underway his rating will go up, but right now its a 43.

Write EA sports tech support, I had a similar problem a few years ago with my NHL07 game and they helped me out with a step by step solution which repaired the problem....:cool:

Works just fine for me, and that means your missing a good deal of the rest of the top, too. Do you have that when you watch reg. tv?

I've gotten past it, so yeah I would. I've gotten through to free agency with the 'Cats, that's where I am now.

I don't have the problem when I watch regular TV, no. I had 2K9 and didn't have this problem with the scoring graphic. It was up top, too. This is the first time I've ever had a problem like this with a video game.

Davcbow, that's so crazy, it just might work. I had posted the issue on the 2K boards, but it was ignored. I'll try their tech support and see how that goes.

Love the game, BTW. It's all sorts of fun.

I have a smaller (ie cheap 19'') flat screen TV in my dorm room that has the same problem when I play video games. I have to cycle through the options (zoom, wide 1, wide 2, cinema, etc) to get one that works for certain games and such.


I know you said you tried adjusting the screen but maybe you just have a TV that isn't a very good fit for the game (for whatever reason). I'd just tinker around with it until you find a best compromise. If you ever figure out if its a larger problem then let me know!

Also, Boris is the fucking man on that game.... a lot more fun to play as the Cats in 2k10 than 2k9. Love the inclusion of the new unis, the near perfect accuracy of the TWC and of course, being able to make my own arena music playlist (may have always had this, but I was disillusioned with 2k8 and 9 and gave up quickly). I got Nicotine and Gravy and Jump as alternating tip off themes!!!!!! :biggrin: Life don't get much better...

I've started a franchise with the cats but now I want to stop and wait until the roster updates because A) Stephan Graham is not on the roster (I know he's in the FA, but come on, a 56?) and B) Lexy is much better than a 43 and I actually want to keep him on my roster. I did manage to make the playoffs with them in season 1, I simulate most of the games yet they managed to win 10 or 11 in a row and ended up winning the conference! Although I'd attribute Vince Carter going down with a season ending injury to that. Crash also made his first All Star game, and UPS made the first team all rookie team. How I LOVE simulations! :biggrin:

I played my second online game last night. I am still learning the new game I got beat by 40 or so the first game. My second game I did much better. Not that I was that much improved I was just playing weaker competition. I would have won had he not played the cavs and taken all of his shots with lebron.

I brought lexy in at the 4 in the second half and forgot right off that he wasn't Diaw and jacked up a 3 from the baseline which I hit!!! Raymond has such a slow release a defender can rotate after he goes up and still block his shot. I was going off with Hendo too.... I was hitting all kinds of layups and a few jumpers too. The new ratings really hurt the bobcats though. They make guys like lebron and wade super human.

I've been doing the My Player thing a ton, finally got picked up by the Magic :facepalm: and it's really fun. Haven't played the 'Cats yet so it's all good.

I changed up everything. I'm going to try and start my season tomorrow. I gave DJ the same shot as Brandon Roy, seems closer to how he really shoots. The game and the moves look great. I just have get my hands used to making those moves again.
