The NOLA game is televised? That's interesting; it wasn't televised 2 (or was it 3?) years ago...and the reasoning at the time was that G'sboro wasn't set up to televise the games.

If it is...I'll be the idiot jumping up and down at center court 4th row.

Why are so many regular season games not televised?

When I had Time Warner Cable I was able to watch almost every game but now I have DishNetwork and I don't get to watch nearly as many games.

I'm thinking about going to that game as well, I went to the Bobcats / Heat game in Greensboro 2 years ago when Sam Vincent was our head coach.

All but 2 are home games, to drive people like us to go to the arena and not stay home ;)

Oh okay I see that's their way of making me drive an hour and a half to come spend way too much money on tickets, food and drink at the arena.

It's actually the best value for any sports franchise in the Carolinas, and the best NBA value I've seen other than the Hawks...

And G'Boro televises NCAA, so that's not the reason Spectre, at least I wouldn't think...

Perhaps I'll see you there. I'm not sure where I'll be sitting, but I'll be going up there with the STH group the 'Cats are taking. Should be fun, I say.

That would be awesome...I'm in the 4th row dead center across from the benches. I'll have a blue Crash alternate on and I'll be with my 9 yr old boy.

I'd love to meet all you guys.

Yeah I was at that one as well. Before then I had no idea Shaq was SO FREAKING HUGE! Great game too (regardless of the Idiot).

Teej good point. Up until this year did they even televise the preseason games?

I know I had never seen anyone as big as Shaq in person in my life.

I wish Dwayne Wade would've played but I think he might have been injured.

I think I go thru this every year, but...

On my guide the NOLA game and the CLE game on Saturday is showing up as being accessible on the "ALT" channels on DISH. Of course I've been checking every day to see if the status has changed and so far it hasn't.

I just went to DISH's webpage and they now have this nice little feature labeled "Where's My Game?"...so I entered my ZIP and put in "Bobcats"...and this popped up:

Hornets at Bobcats: Subject to programmer's schedule change. - 445:SPORTS ALTERNATE1 - 10/08/2009 7:00PMUnderneath that it says:

The results posted indicate games that will not be blacked out for the ZIP code you entered. To get more information on blackouts view the understanding blackouts section below.Of course they do have this little disclaimer (to keep me from calling and raising total hell when it's not on):

All events listed are subject to change and may not be available in your current DISH Network package.Last note...according to DISH the sports league set the blackout limits:

Each sports league determines it's teams territories differently.

Am I correct in thinking that SportsSouth is STILL not offered by TimeWarner in Raleigh, making what looks like nearly half of the game unavailable in the largest market outside of Charlotte?

^ Last year the SS games were broadcast on some channel in the 140s. Special events or something.

Teej's (edit out Ziggy's) blog with MT just blew my mind when MT said AT&T carries Bobcats games in Columbia. U Verse isn't available yet in my area, so that leaves me with DirectTV, which I understand to be an AT&T product. It looks like DirectTV has Sports South but not FSCarolinas. SS carries 31 regular season games, so I am still excited. Can anyone tell me if I have misread or otherwise missed something???? If not, then I can't dump Time Warner fast enough.
Edit: as I read MT's answer again I notice the sentence saying DirecTV shows games in the INNER MARKET ... Does that mean that outer market DirecTV customers don't get the games? I am talking to you Raliegh area people here...do ya'll get them on DirecTV?

Muttley, keep us posted starting with tonight's game, about the U Verse thing. If it really carries the games, I will have it installed the minute it comes available in my neighborhood.

I had to check MT's blog to see for myself that AT&T picked up the games. He's the most reliable source for, well, most anything Cats related.

It is on the guide, as is the game on the 10th. I'm naturally wary, however, of being dicked over by cable providers. So, I will re-post if/when I can confirm that the game aired.

In all I HIGHLY suggest U-Verse, even without the games. If you're not getting games in your area anyway, then U-Verse is still a better option than most other providers. They're cheaper than TWC for similar service, and in fact provide a better product than TWC in many ways. I suggest looking into it the options you can get with AT&T. (I do not work for AT&T).
I thought that I might have to switch back to TWC for the basketball season, but now it looks like that will be unnecessary.

I am going to the game tonight (section 102, I believe for those that will be there), so I might not be able to confirm until around midnight.

^Spectre, my understanding is that AT&T is laying fiber optic lines through which they will provide digital TV, internet, and home phone. If available in your area, you can bundle any of those 3 plus your AT&T cell service and save some dough. You can go online and put in your address and they will tell you whether lines have been put in your area. Just google u verse and look under the shop section to check availability.

I already have their DSL...so I should be able to get the TV right?

And if I get the TV...I get the Bobcats?

Please please please tell me there's a way around this crap.

Having AT&T DSL doesn't necessarily guarantee being able to get U-verse. They JUST started offering it in Raleigh in the past year (or maybe even the last 6 months). Even then, they've only put it into certain neighborhoods. I think they like it being exclusive. In any case, I'm reluctant to let you get your hopes up. If you're living in a place that TWC doesn't even go to, then I doubt if U-Verse is there yet. Still, there's some hope that it may be offered soon.

Also, I will be there tonight, and I'd dig meeting both you and Keetch. I'll be wearing a grey/black bobcats t-shirt and Wallace and Hollins signed blue 'cats hat. Both with the old "profile" logo. Say hi.

Does U-Verse have Sports South?

Yes. You may have to get the "sports package" which is another $10, but you get an honest-to-god sportsouth. Actually, you get a couple alternate sportsouths too. None of this channel 140-something crap where if you need to dvr the game you have to be there right at the beginning when the channel miraculously may or may not come on.

UVerse is rolled on in small areas at a time. It isn't something they can enable for a whole city.

My understanding is that u verse is run through fiber optic lines, which are expensive. I called them yesterday to get an estimate on when my neighborhood will have the lines. They say they don't know when to expect it. My sister lives 6 miles away and her neighborhood has it available. Best bet is to check back every so often and keep your fingers crossed that they expand their lines in your direction.

When you see a bunch of at&t vans hang out in your neighborhood for a week or so... you're getting uverse. They'll also start mailing ads to you after it's set up. They may even send a guy door to door to talk about it.
