Which station makes the most sense for us to be on?

Certainly not the spanish music station. That was comical.
I vote for WFNZ (or whatever they are now) for two reasons:
1. they are the local sports station
2. WFNZ is available on line and on iPhone apps so people can listen to games wherever they are.

WFNZ would do in a pinch, but I'd be very worried about the signal at night. If you get 10 feet outside of Uptown after dark, there's a good chance it's static.
What was that station that was at the games near the end of last year? WDAV? Why not them?

I'd certainly like a reliable one. A few times last year I was reduced to a radio link and gamecast...and some of those times I didn't even have the radio.

The station doing the games last year converted to a spanish language channel.
The reception issue isn't a problem since WFNZ is online (unless of course you're trying to listen in the car).

WFNZ now Bobcats flagship station (http://blogs.charlotte.com/inside_the_nba/2009/10/wfnz-now-bobcats-flagship-station.html)
There will be some scheduling conflicts, such as when North Carolina plays, that could move the Bobcats to other CBS radio stations in the Charlotte market.
If it's online I won't have a problem (unless those alternates AREN'T online).
WFNZ is good because it makes them (hopefully) a little less anti-Bobcats.

What about The Ride? They are available online, which I think would be important. Perhaps the bobcats website could stream the radio audio? Is that legal (according to the law and/or David Stern)? They carry NCSU basketball, which means they could be willing to carry Bobcats games, perhaps. Not living in Charlotte, I'm not 100% certain, but doesn't WFNZ carry UNC basketball and the 'Canes games? That would for sure cause more conflicts than The Ride. Anyhow, so long as some station here in RDU carries it, I'll be happy.

WFNZ rules.....so WFNZ FTW!
I'm glad they chose WFNZ because I don't live near Charlotte so atleast I can listen online.

Yeah, I listen to the post-game show on the way home so I'd like to be able to have a strong signal for that. I guess I'll see how close to home I can get before static takes over.
I wasn't clear about the station I was talking about; sorry about that. I believe it was WDAV (not sure, though) that was actually in the arena and had advertising spots towards the end of last year.
And Teej, we're on the same page with FNZ. Perhaps now they can find a way to acknowledge the Bobcats exist and maybe treat them respectfully.

I have it on good authority that the Cats and BCP will be represented, at least on the morning show.

In what role? Frequency? You should try to lobby the station and get an hr on the weekend.

Very good to know. Can you share any more or is it best we just be surprised?

There may be a familiar voice on the air from time to time that is extremely vocal about his support for this team.

I thought this was 2009. Why do I care if it's on the radio....The damn games should be on live TV.

I was at Sugar Mountain last week and could listen to WFNZ without any problem. They have a great HD signal on 97.9-3 FM. It should easily cover the Charlotte area.

The radio is better than no coverage at all... I prefer TV coverage but will listen to the radio when TV coverage isnt available....

Anything new to report on this?
Also, after some asking around, I found out they can't stream the games. So online/iPhone doesn't appear to be a viable option. Not happy about this.

I don't understand this. Where is that link on NBA.com that you get to via the "Listen Live" link supposed to take you to if the radio can't stream it? I got the Bobcats' announcers last season via that link.

I think they only do that in-season. But idk.

I was told by the station manager (DJ) that they are not allowed to stream the games. It does beg the question of how NBA.com does it.

I quoted somewhere an article saying that the NBA charges so much for a radio station to stream the game...they get a kickback basically.
We chose a radio station that wouldn't pay it maybe? We all know other radio stations stream the games...we listened to the Griz just last week.

So is there a radio station in Raleigh for the Bobcats? I was out in my car on Saturday nite and was lucky enough to catch the game on AM 1100...but it was the Cav's feed. I never ran across one from the 'Cats.

Are any CBS stations in Raleigh? I'd try those first, but I don't have any solid advice for you?

Damn, I don't even know who was airing the game tonight in Charlotte. I expected the flagship, 610, to carry the game, but when I got to the car to listen to postgame goodies, they were airing frickin' football! So I tuned around and listened to the Nets (WTF?!?!?!) coverage.
Geez, please go back to the Spanish station, guys, if this is the best FNZ can do.....

Same thing here on both games. It takes me less than 10 minutes after the game is over to get to my car, and there's no post-game show. I enjoyed listening to the wrap-up and coments from the players and LB on the way home. I can't believe a flagship sports station would do the hometown team like that, but then again this is WFNZ I'm talking about.
I'm with you, Beagle. I don't care if it's on the Spanish station, just do people the common courtesy of having a post-game show.

It wasn't on 610 I know since the Falcons/Saints game was on. Was it not on 1660? Its really just those 2 options, yes? That's not that hard, is it? I agree, one station would be simple and logical but come on, this isn't rocket science.
If the game wasn't on 1660 either, i recant the above statement.

Is anyone at all surprised that the radio situation would be screwed up as well?
I've already gotten to the conclusion that if anything Bobcats related can be screwed up it will be.

If the game wasn't on 1660 either, i recant the above statement. If it was, my car radio wasn't picking it up. There was only like 5 or so AM stations that were getting any sort of reception: 610 (football), 630 (Nets broadcast), a news station, and a couple church/religious stations. I didn't remember the exact number, but I knew the other was in the 1600s, and I got nothing but high-pitched stacatto squelches all the way through those....

The only time I heard the Bobcats play on the radio was last season I was coming home from a trip on the Blue Ridge Parkway and I picked it up on some western Carolina station.....
