Bell has all ways started slow . But so far this year he hasn't started. I think hes a combined 3 for 23 averaging 2 points a game. He couldn't seem to stop at Hawks from driving down the lane . Its all most like hes lost his defencive edge. If he don't bring that he brings nothing to the table.
Henderson has been the most aggressive in the preseason so far. More than Flip or Bell.
I know its early but whats your thoughts on Bell.

I expect Bell to drop off from last season, but I am hoping that Henderson and Flip will be suppliment production if we decrease Bell's minutes. But it is alittle too early to judge his performance. It is only a few games into the preseason. But it is definitely something to keep an eye on. I believe his expiring contract will become more valuable than his on court performance by the deadline.

It's just the preseason guys, give him a break.

dav I think some of us commented after the trade that he'd lost a step or two and I think with nagging injuries it is becoming more obvious...I'm not sure what he can bring now but think he can still contribute...he may be behind Flip and Hendo at this point though and I doubt he'll like that...

You think Larry would start Flip or Henderson over Raja? Larry loves Raja...

I loved Bells play too. He started slow last year too . I know its just preseason and the 3 for 23 doesn't worry me as much as his foot speed. He looks like hes lost another step on the defencive side. His production comes from keeping players out of the lane . And making them make the tough shot. If and i say if he can;t do that hes not going to be much use to the team.
Henderson shot isn't great but he plays solid defence and gets to the rim great.
Flips role will be a scorer off the beanch no matter who starts. Flip doesn't play enough defence to be a starter .

Raja won't be benched for Flip anytime soon because I just read that he's going to be out for a while with a shin injury.

ILBIT .....LB will play the best choice for the job if not he will move people around.... If Bell dont get it together LB will put him on the trading table....

Yeah, we could still get something for his expiring, and if Lexy and UPS mature enough, Diaw could start some there, and Flip some. Who knows. ILBIT 110%.

I wonder if the trade rumors are affecting him somewhat? He strikes me as the kind of guy that likes things settled, and he did look for an extension this summer from us.

Either way, I doubt he's lost that much from last season. He wasn't his prime self...but he was still able to get into the head of a lot of players.

Put it this way Ray Allen ain't exactly going off either....it's the pre season so i think Raja is really conserving his energy for the regular. These games don't mean s**t..............that's how i see it anyway.BUT i will say he has been ice cold from everywhere ooohweeee hopefully that doesn't carry on to our 1st regular season game

I don't think Raja slow starting will eb an issue. We have bunch of options to overcome that. Even with Flip currently injured, we have Henderson, DJ next to Ray and Graham, which is Larry's type of player. And as a last resort whoever won't be cut from Antonio Anderson/Dontell Jefferson duo. Enough bodies to cover lack of minutes from Raja. And even undeperforming Raja is useful for his defense.

Raja Bell will have the season-ending wrist surgery he put off while with the Bobcats.
Bell would rather sit out the season than play for the Warriors and it's hard to blame him as he is going to try to get healthy for a free-agent deal this summer. He'll be an emergency player for Don Nelson tonight as they'll only dress eight players, but expect the surgery to happen soon. Anthony Morrow, Steph Curry and Corey Maggette get a nice boost with this news.

owned.

Chances he comes back here next year to replace Flip?

No, please. Raja deserves a ring. Hopefully, he signs with a contender.

He just bought a house here? And he was already interested in an extension. I don't think that matters too much to him, for whatever reason.

Because he's going to be our coach when LB walks.

If we sign Raja back we basically traded the space cadet for Captain Jack. I'd say we won that trade?

If anyone would make a great coach, it's Raja.

Unless Jack does something stupid, which I don't see at all. No doubt.

Hopefully he signs with a contender it's a shame he has to go to the Warriors not so much for Radman

As much as I'd like him back...I think I prefer more for him to go get that ring.

I want him to get a ring with us! Hopefully they buy him out and we get him back at the end of the year when he is healthy.

Wouldn't that be something?
I'd hope the Cats could sign him to a vet min contract at the end of the season just as a show of good faith, then maybe sign him next season. Can't have too many guards, right? (Well, maybe you can!)

The guy postponed surgery solely to help this team and compete. What a guy!

Alternatively, I could see Raja fitting in real well in San Antonio or Denver if they still wanna bring Manu or JR, respectively, off the bench.

Oh yes you can, as Detriot, Golden State and Memphis have taught us in the past 2 seasons. Lets not do anything 'silly' here.

Yeah, we're on the verge of too many guards as is, if not past that point.

Meanwhile, Gerald Wallace talked about the elephant in the room, which is how much the team will miss their departing teammates.
"We gave up a lot. Vlade, at the power forward, is able to stretch the defense and shoot. He's able to play the three and the four, so he gave us versatility. Stephen can do that, too. He played the one, two, three, and four for Golden State, so that kind of balanced out there. But with Raja, losing Raja is really a blow for us because he's the heart and soul of our defense. He's the guy who had the assignment of guarding the hardest guy on the opposing team every night. His fire and his fight to come out and do that every night kind of boosted our defense. He's the one who got us going defensively and even sometimes offensively by hitting some shots at the start of games. I think more of that responsibility is going to fall on me now, as well as my teammates."
In particular, Wallace feels like the entire Bobcats team let Bell and Radmanovic down, allowing them to be scapegoats, in a way, for the team's lack of early success.
"I think, personally, that when you're seven or eight games into the season and you've lost three or four games in a row and trades have to be made, some of that blame has to fall on the players. Now the front office is thinking the players aren't doing something right or this combination isn't working so we're going to try to bring some guys in and see if we can get this thing going in the right direction. I take full responsibility for the Vlade and Raja trade because I think we let them down. We had high expectations. We were supposed to be a whole lot better than we are and we're three or four games under .500 and we have a losing streak. It's because of that that those guys got traded. Nothing against Stephen or Acie, but my feeling is that we let those guys down."

To me, this decision by Bell now makes the trade so one sided it is a no-brainer. Bell was never going to make the full season for us with that wrist. This way, we get Jackson for Vlad and an expiring Contract of a good player who is out for the year. It turned out best for us. I just wish Bell a full recovery.

I would like for Bell to come back here as a roleplayer next year. It's most likely the Warriors will drop him for cap space, and we can sign him to a Vet's min. Even if he doesn't play many minutes, his presence would be great on and off the court.

I dont know if he thinks of himself as a role player. I certainly dont. But he would not start over Jaxs, and we have Henderson we are grooming also. I think he was great for us while here, and I think we got good value for him in the trade. Especially considering he is likely done for the year and was essentially an expiring Contract.

I had hopes he'd resign as a player/asst coach...last couple of years he is getting injured often...he really needs to come off the bench for 15-18 a night if he wants to play longer...players have to realize that themselves though...

I agree totally, which is why I wanted us to sign AI this summer. Bell would have made the perfect 6th man. In spurts, he can still be effective and is a great locker room guy, but his jumpshot isn't consistent enough, nor is his health reliable enough to be a starter anymore. We had to upgrade that position whether it was with AI, Jackson or someone else.

Maybe when he's done he can be our shooting coach? Please Lord, we need a new one...
