He will be attending a black tie gala at Bobcats arena where he will be drinking cocktails and rubbing elbows with all of the Bobcats players and coaching staff.
Here is a link to the 2008 Gala (http://www.nba.com/bobcats/release_my_hero_08.html)
Pretty cool huh

Ammo looks miserable in the picture with the link in op.
I wouldn't go to that thing if it was free, I can't stand those types of people. They're the people who give the Panthers fanbase the bad label of "wine and cheese".

You obviously have no idea what this event is about. They celebrate some of the good things the team does in the community. You need to be more informed before casting such a wide net before labeling groups as "those types of people." In this case "those types of people" do a lot of good and if I were the team, I'd be proud to have them as fans.
I went two years ago and they discussed Matty Carroll's work with an autistic child (i think he was autistic), the medical bus the team sponsors that travels to poor neighborhoods and the teams support of an Oncologist and his career.

The kid, not Matt, was somehow challenged. [insert joke about Matt's defense here ] I don't recall if the kid was autistic or had down syndrome, whatever.

You're right, I didn't read what it was about I just looked at the photo gallery from last season and it looked like on of those parties that the Panthers hold for just the rich people who buy season tickets yet don't show up when we're having a season like we're having this year. I didn't know it was a community thing, I just read davcbow's comment and figured it was a "wine and cheese" party.
My bad guys, I'm a total ass.

What you mean, those types of people?! :paddle::paddle::paddle::paddle::paddle:
;) never thought I'd have the opportunity to say that

The type of people who have the money to buy season tickets to Panthers games and don't show up when the team is having a bad season. They are the people who give the Panthers fanbase the title of "wine and cheese" which I hate to be associated with. Those same people who tell me to sit down when I'm trying to pull for my team as loud as possible on 3rd down when our defense is on the field. The type of people who buy courtside seats to Bobcats and all NBA games just to be seen. Does anyone remember that kid who got knocked down at the Celtics playoff game last season and his dad tried make something of it even though his kid was on the court where he wasn't supposed to be.

Every team has those, with the exception of maybe the Celtics, Red Sox, Steelers, Raiders, Angels, and Packers. If I missed any I apologize, but that's about it for true fans without the pansy crowd.

Well Saturday has arrived and I don't really understand the tangent this thread has taken. I'm pretty excited about wearing a suit with tennis shoes. I don't have the $$ don't really know how/why I was invited but it's a great event, good charity, and one of the best ways to try and wooo a woman. "Hey, how would you like to go to a black tie gala with the Bobcats?" 30 mins later once I've explained that she really doesn't have to wear tennis shoes and yes that dress will be fine and of course I won't embarrass her like the time we sat behind the bench and I told Jordan to take that Blue Tooth headset off he was at a damn ball game, I think she's kind of agreed to go. My concern is getting my Hyundai Elantra mixed up with a Mercedes or if MJ shows up, a Ferrari by the valet. Expect a full report tonight or tomorrow!

Such a good time guys, really enjoyed it. Big ups to the Bobcats because it was well put on, well attended and all around enjoyable. Raymond got an award, 2 other folks did as well but their names escape me. Met Raymond an had a good talk with him although I was a bit nervous. I just told him that I really appreciate him and what he does for the team and the community. He's just a solid dude and a solid ball player. I told him I wanted to see him and the rest of the site, if I can speak for your guys did too. Actually I believe I said "lots of people" beside the point, he genuinely said he wanted to be here. It was huge, HUGE.

Good show, BCB; good show, I say! Of course the most important thing is that you had a good time, and it's good to hear the event was pulled off to such success. You're right about Raymond; he's willing to talk to anybody about most anything basketball related.....just don't ask him about the meltdown in '05 at Cameron where he and McCants had no clue what the other was doing and cost the Heels the game...

I would rather ask him what it's like to win a national championship and hold up that trophy, something recent Duke players will never know...

I talked to a friend of mine who was there and he said that the live auctions were kinda sad. For example, the only people bidding on having Crash come to a birthday party was Vlade and Chandler. I've been all over that if my kids were older. Kinda sad but not really surprising given the economy.

I wouldn't want Crash to come to my birthday party, he would probably dive on my cake thinking that a balloon was a ball about to go out of bounds.
I would love to have Crash come to a bday party...that'd be sweet.
But my bday falls on a game I think...

Was there a minimum bid on that? I have no money (or kids), but I gotta think I'd spend as much as I could on something like that. My birthday's in the offseason, it'd be perfect!

You're going to have to clarify something for me...
... how would that not be awesome?

This is of course moot, but considering Crash is just a day older than me, it could be interesting:) I also think that if I would understand him every word then I would understand everybody.)

I want Crash to come my birthday party - we will sing Karaoke. I could see him doing a mean rendition of Barry White's "My First, My Last, My Everything".

He might even be able to take it down an octave.
