View Full Version : Charlotte Bobcats at Chicago Bulls 11/7

Coming off a strong win against the Atlanta Hawks last night the Bobcats will go on the road to face the Chicago Bulls. Let's hope that our matchup with the Bulls turns out better than these guys...
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h4Tsr-3FLPI
The Bulls will be without Tyrus Thomas tonight. He'll be out 4 to 6 weeks with a broken arm. Our extensive staff of researchers and investigators ave managed to get the exclusive images of the x-ray of his broken arm... Take a look.

Looks damned bad man.
So fellow Bobcats fans, Are we going to take the momentum from last night's game, continue to play well and get our first road win of the season?

Well, we are both 3-2, and they are 2-0 at home. It is time they lose at home. That, and we did get some good bench minutes in the game last night, and that was the first game in 4 nights. We should not be too tired on this end of a back to back.
Tonight we go to 4-2 with a hard fought road win. 93 - 88

If we're able to stop Rose, should be a fine win from us.
My prediction:
96-82 in favour of Cats.

DJ can't stop Rose tonight . Rose is much to strong. No knock on DJ. Nice to have two good different style points....
Felton logged just 23 mins last night and i think can hold Rose in check.
I think we match well

Dav, you're right -- D.J. can't stop Rose. However, Rose can't stop anybody. Felton averaged over 21 PPG last season against the Bulls, and D.J. embarrassed him in their first head-to-head game.
The closer we keep Ray to 25 minutes (IMO) the better he plays...he plays well against the Bulls...if TOs (again) are 15 or less, Ray only has to play 25-28, and we get points from the bench again we win...

Considering we are 3-2 and so are they, we are 0-2 on the road and they are 2-0 at home, its time we win our first road game and they lose their first home game...We can do this....

Not in the last game we played them. Both he and Felton got smoked by Rose/Gordon. We were without Raja and the result reflected it.
I REALLY want to beat the Bulls tonight. Like almost more than any other team. I see them as our main obstacle in the playoff hunt along with Toronto and Washington.

Hasn't Rose been playing with a sore ankle the past few games? I know he hasn't been playing up to his usual level and after Brandon Jennings whooped his butt, the excuse was that Rose is hurt.
They have 2 starters hurt and only 1 playing (Sounds like us). We should beat them

Well with flip and bell giving anything close like last night we will win this thing. In the standings we are 7th but with Toronto, Atlanta and a Chicago Loss it should move us to 4-2 and in 4th. I know it aint the end of season picture but I will definitely relish the fact the Cats are in the top 4 in the east.

I can't wait for the game either! I took my girl to her first game last night and we had a great time. The team looked great. I just hope we keep it up and everyone has the rust off. I would have liked to see more of Henderson last night because I was there, but the way Raja and Flip was playing I understand. I'm predicting we win by 5 tonight. 96-91

Postives- Energy guy, can knock down 3s, spreads the court
Negatives- Cant defend, cant rebound(not his fault because he isnt that type of player), huge contract, 3 point shooting ablities supressed in Larry's offense/asked to play center/power forward instead of Small Forward

We can't keep thinking like that (criticizing drafts). It's pointless now.
I don't think DJ is regressing. I just think he might be struggling a bit to learn how to run a team. He's primarily a scoring guard who shoots from outside. If he's got it going, he's great. If he isn't scoring well, he doesn't contribute a whole lot otherwise.
Even though he didn't have many assists, I thought the team flowed very well with him in the first half.
I think the biggest thing for DJ is not being intimidated by Brown. He needs to listen to the guy, but he needs just to play and not be concerned about every little detail. Practice is for worrying. Once it's game time, you've got to just be in the moment and play. (enter Phil Jackson)

Yea, DJ / Flip / Radman / Gerald / Chandler would give us three legit 3-point shooters and 2 good rebounders to give ourselves a second chance. I hope you are right and Brown was thinking quick 2 but for whatever reason they had to resort to the 3-ball, would explain the line-up.

There were definitely a couple of shots that Felton had no business taking tonight. However, he also had some great looks and simply missed them.
The last few minutes the Bulls were also playing great D. We moved the ball around but just weren't getting good looks. The Bulls were quick to clog the lane when needed, which made our drives pretty mediocre.
The Bulls are a great team. They've got height, D, shooters, passers. I'd rather win, but we played a respectable game for most of the night.

Unfortunately, D.J. can't run an offense or defend, and Ray can't shoot to save his life.
Ray's done a good job distributing and has held the turnovers in check the past couple of games. I think we're all in agreement that 8.5 APG and only 1.5 TO is doing a great job.
This still brings me back to one question -- has there ever been any word of him working with a shooting coach during the offseason?

The Bulls played good D down the stretch and our guys weren't getting open off the screens. I think a lot of those Felton didn't have a lot of choice to shoot. I don't think TOs can be an issue here as he had a 10:1 Asst/TO rate?
We were up 7 late in the 3rd when LB sat Felton and Crash?...the Bulls took off from there and we were never able to fully get it back. I think we've now seen the downside of Flip.
This was a good game...we just ran out of juice at the end. We're still .500 and I'm still feeling good about these guys.

Although I cant stand him, I have to give Noah his props for his tenacity. Guy has an engine that never stops. And he just hangs around the rim and keeps getting rebounds.

I think he did after his rookie season..
It was a good game...not a trash game...the only pisser for me is why can't any of our guys box out Noah...I mean really...

I don't want to defend Felton's horrible shooting, but did you guys notice how nobody else wanted to take the shot? At least 2 out of the 5 times near the end he would pass it and the ball would inevitably end up back in his hands.
Now, that's not to say he went hero mode on the other ones, but it just doesn't seem like anybody else WILL take the shot (besides flip).
And I'm with whoever said "why wasn't vlad in the game at the end" :g:
Overall, not a bad game... we could've played better, and it would've been great to get the W over another team gunning for the last playoff spots, but oh well. We didn't totally regress from the ATL game, so hopefully we take another step forward.
edit: ^^^ Agreed, Noah had the game of his life

He didn't really start taking off til TC got those first 2 fouls and had to sit...but yeah, we'd done a lot better up til now boxing out.
Bulls are probably a top 7 defensive team.

Fairly short:
Great Chi defense compounded with refs who refused to blow the whistle kept the good guys out of the lane and jacking up 3s, which worked for 3 qtrs, but rarely do you win games from 3. Too many unforced TOs to boot, which I guess is kindred to Bobcats basketball no matter the coach...
Still, all that against us, the guys went toe-to-toe against a rested team on their court and were in the game up to the end, so very proud of how this team has come along and see how better it can get with some more gelling and improvements along the way.
A couple days rest and get ready for another tough one against Orlando followed by Detroit the next night. Schedule has been pretty damn nasty to us so far, or is it just me?
And agreed, spectre...I'm feeling good about this crew also!

That was my point. He also was the recipient of a couple of wide open looks that he just didn't hit. The corner three and the top of the key jumpshot from the college three-point line.
Putting blame on him for this loss is ridiculous. As Spectre noted, when he came out near the end of the third, we were sitting pretty, but when he came back in the early fourth, we were down.

LOL! Hey man, I'm the most optimistic Cat fan out here! I always think we can win (tho I'm shitting bricks thru most of the games).
Derrick Rose with 7 TOs and 4 assists. Y'all think our PGs are bad...he's a freaking scrub!
BTW, I thought Boris had a great night. The TOs weren't so hot...but his stat line across the board is awesome.

Hey I just noticed...Felton has the highest +/- of anyone on the squad...+13! The nearest is Raja with +7, Crash with +3, Nazr with +2 and Boris with +1...everyone else is in the negative.
You guys don't know what the hell you're talking about! Felton was EASILY our best player!

I mean, overall, for the majority of the game Ray did play very well. He limited the TO's and ran the offense effectively. Prior to 5 minutes left I was thinking he'd played a very good game. He just sucks most when it matters the most.

I Agree Felton played a decent game . Though the board seems to have lots of haters, Loaging 10 assist and i counted FIVE bail out shots . With only 1 turn over was a decent game.
Remember this was a tough team on the road and we stayed in it til the end. The fouls called made a big differance. expected on the road, Another thing they beat us on the boards . As a team we shoot just 39% to thair 50%
I agree shooting needs to inprove . Im not ready to start trading though . We continue to work on our sets and rythem . Shots should fall. Ive noticed in the six games this year DJ seems to either be very good or very bad [not instrested] Ican't put my finger on it he shot the ball well last night , But didn't seem to look for his shot tonight. His assist was bad all so . Don;t know why?
Boxing Noah out was key all so . No way Salmons should go off on Bell and Flip that way. We the better team and should beat them easy at home as we continue to inprove.
Lexy didn't shoot but had a + per tonight . Im not so sure i wouldn't work him in to the rotation. I think with experiance he could be our center of the fucture.

The way im looking at this , The more im convinced DJ hurt us bad
0 for 2 , 1 assist , no points Lost a 7 point lead in the third . When Felts came back in they had the lead. [UNINSTRESTED] BK would deliver better than that.
Could it be truble in the point guard camp between Felton , DJ , And Brown?

I never said he cost us the game I was just pissed when he would just stand there and hold the ball when I clearly saw shooters open... He was waiting for the box out ignoring the shooters. I saw him do this 4 or 5 times in the second half.....

Disappointed that we lost the game.
Positives:
Felton, 1 TO! And DD, although the FG% was a bit low for him
TC - Starting to get the hang of things, now being able to block shots and is improving his scoring
Diaw is back on a groove, however the TO's hurt us.
Negatives:
Outrebounded, Cmon TC, show us what your made of. Also to note that TC fouls too early, we need him for more than 30 minutes since he brings a good defensive presence inside (And yes I will say it, BETTER than Okafor)
Augustine wasn't...too flash hot. Didn't seem to know what he was doing really (not to mention was on the court for 11 minutes, and got a whopping -16)
FG%, less than 40% = shocking
Finally, LB needs to teach Vlad Rad how to defend. He seriously just stands there while people drive to go for the uncontested shot. Hes 6"10 for crying out loud.

I was being sarcastic guys...mainly about the +/- stat.
Felton had an "ok" 1st half, seemed a little shaky at first but tightened it down and got (I think) 7 assists in the 1st half and was something like 3 of 6 from the field. Some of his decisions during that stretch were wrong but they didn't cost us (example: bad pass but it got tipped out of bounds by the Bulls so our ball...no TO). 3rd quarter he was still doing ok, but when he sat and the Bulls got the MO when he came back in he didn't make good decisions at all. The movement stagnated...but it's his job to keep it moving. He made bad shots, and even tho I think he haddn't much choice once again...it's his job to make the right decisions.
DJ couldn't keep their PGs in front of him to save his life (notice another comment by LB on "allowing dribble penetration). As soon as DJ came in Hinrich got 2 open looks within the 1st minute...5 points and we're only up by 2.
Flip chucks...but I'll address that in the other thread.
Crash hardly drove at all and once again reverted to jump shot mode. He held Deng early, but during that 4th quarter his guy was part of the group that burnt us.
Raja...see Salmons, 1st half.
I'm highly disappointed in our defense. The Bulls' main strategy is to use a lot of screens and we acted like we'd never faced that before. There were a few times we switched well but more times than not guys like Deng and Salmons would get open looks and burn us.
