I'm new to the message board and was wondering what peoples thoughts were on the direction of the team? They swapped Mek for Chandler to get rid of some salary but then trade for Jackson. We also lose a first round pick within the next three years due to the trade for Lex and have some terrible contracts such as Diop. I hope the front office has a plan to build the team into playoff contenders but right now they seem to be in above their head.
yesr, there is no plan there just winging it
i think theres to sides, what LB tells Jordan he thinks he should do and what Johnson doesnt wanna do IMO

Welcome, first off
Second, to answer you question is extremely hard. To be honest no one really knows what the heck is going on. but what i can deduce from everything that has happened is that this team is and still will be desperately trying to make the playoffs. I think thats the main goal surrounding management and the head coach.
Its hard to ask this team to rebuild considering it is so new and should have been building correctly/smartly from the very beginning but this franchise has not done this. Bad draft picks and bad contracts have set this team back so rebuilding is not an option until all of our bad contracts are done.
About the Jackson trade, I thought it was great he is a great player and one who i think we would have never been able to sign if he was a FA. So good move by the FO.
About the Mek trade, I again sign off even though Chandler is sucking right now. Mek's contract should have never happened to begin with and we would have been much better off just making him sign the QO but instead we reward him with a huge contract for over 6 years and i think the management knew it was a mistake and got the best thing in return a much short contract in Chandler's.
The Lex pick is still up in the air for me b/c one he gets no burn so the kid can't grow. and also he is so young you can't count this guy out yet. It seems to me he is still committed to becoming a good player for example he went and worked out with Bosh's camp in texas over the summer. That says something to me that he is really trying to build some muscle and become a NBA player. I think he needs to play much more especially since our team can not get much worse.

Welcome Caddy! Come along for the ride and keep posting. It is always fun to discuss the team with others. As for my thoughts on the direction of the team, you can see that in the Trade Idea thread that is ongoing. I wont bother to repeat it all.
Looking forward to reading more of your posts!

As long as Diaw,Felton, and Augustine are on the team, we're going nowhere but down.

Welcome to the forums =].
As for this team's direction...I personally have no idea whats going on in Bobcats management's head, but I have my observations. We've pulled up completely lousy contracts (Diop) but gotten rid of others (Rad, Mek).
Honestly, I believe this team is moving forward through trading our talent for better talent. For instance, the Radman trade was because Ammo and Shannon were failing, and thus bringing Radman in allowed us to become better (not by much, but a bit). Now, with the Cpt. Jack trade, we've gotten rid of Vlad and Bell for a great all-star caliber player.
Thus, I believe this team's direction is slowly building up through our own existing talent.

Well I think the best thing coming from the Bobcats is that they're trying to correct some mistakes they made in the past. Okafor/Radman's contract, I'm sure they're looking to offload Diop and are probably gonna make an offer to Iverson (I'm not getting into that though.) Overall after the Jackson trade the team looks "rejuvinated" to say the least and it looks like Charotte can finaly have that go to guy we have needed.
I'm feeling better about the direction we are headed...and I'm going to say something that a couple of months ago would have surprised me...I'm starting to like Higgins and think he actually has a plan and is being allowed to be the GM...we (for once) had a solid draft and finally made a trade that brought in better talent than we shipped out...I'm going out on a limb here by saying...I think he finally has permission from MJ and BJ to "be" the GM and make tthe best decisions for the organization...I for one like what he's doing and hope he keeps it up...:rim:

I know you're right about him at least on the Jax trade, that was all Rod. No way LB asked to get rid of Raja and Rod and Jax are friends. And judging by the way LB is talking about "management" wanting the rooks to play more, I think you're right about this last draft (from the other thread). Maybe we keep him and clear out the rest?

Haha I love Boris but he hasn't done anything this year. Except the Portland and Orlando? games, which we lost.

At this point I'd rather be ass raped by a epileptic mime then be forced to watch this team lose by under 5 pts all year long.
