I was reading that Alderman and Tmac were bunting heads. Tmac has been cleared to play but Alderman says they are winning right now and doesnt want to mess that up. So my thoughts were...

We will sign AI straight up.
We will send Felts to Houston for McGrady ( 2 expirings)
And then we will ship out one of our bigs in Dec for a PF.

Then we will have a lineup of
Jax, Wallace, AI, McGrady Chandler

With Hendo, Law, DJ, Brown, Diaw, AA, DJ ,Flip coming off the bench..

Now bobcats are no longer in the bottom of the league in scoring and turn into a Phoenix style offense but still have some defensive stoppers in the half court set.

Thoughts????

felton for tmac would never work. tmac makes too much and his value is make worth what he is making.

I love T-mac.
I'm a huge fan of T-mac and he would be brilliant to have in Charlotte.
However, T-mac has barely played ball these past two years, and he can be pretty troubled at times.

And T-mac is earning 20+ mil. No way BJ would want him.

We can't trade felton

I realize we cant push Felts out the door, but he would surely take playing in houston on a playoff bound team than charlotte. Tmac has been injured,True. But he is in the last year of his contract and the doctors have all said he is cleared to play. Its just the coach doesn't want to disrupt the chemistry his team is playing with now.

Now as far as BJ not taking back his salary, well I didn't think so much of that, as I think TMAC is the highest paid this yr in the NBA at 23 million.

Well hell, saw an opportunity for us to get better and thought i would shout it out.

The trade as posted can't happen. We don't need another guard, and T-Mac won't help us. However, I have lately been considering something similar involving the 'Cats, Houston and Cleveland. It's not a ground-breaking trade, but I think it's something within reason.

Charlotte out
Tyson Chandler
Charlotte in
Big Z

Ty hasn't done a whole lot here. Z makes as much money, can hit some shots, and expires at the end of the year.

Cleveland out
Z
Delonte West
Wally (sign-n-trade at a value of 3-4 million for 1 year. Since he's not in the trade machine, I used Boobie's contract of 4 million and it works).
Cleveland in
T-Mac

Maybe if T-Mac cares he can actually play and contribute to a competitive, winning basketball team. If not, the Cavs lose $22 mill from the roster at the end of the season.

Houston out
T-Mac
Houston in
Chandler
West
Wally

Potentially Chandler could work out as a center this year and as a back-up the next. Presumably, West would get a buy-out, and they could keep or use Wally as a trade chip if they like. Plus, they get something for T-Mac.

Maybe this could happen, maybe not. Not sure I completely like it, but it seems within reason. Doesn't fix our backcourt problem though.

Wally is a free agent, and no one would dare take West.

Cap room means nothing to the Cavs. They did not want to give z up for Jackson so they won't do it for those other guys. There is no reason to think T-Mac will be healthy and stay healthy this year so they would not want him.

Well the fact nobody would touch west with a ten foot pole, but the bigger issues is Big Z. He has played in Cleveland his whole career and stated earlier in the pre season that this yr would most likely be his last.

So if this is his last yr and he wants to play his whole career in one place, this trade wouldn't go down.

Well, the motivation for the idea I put up was that Z and West and possibly a s-n-t with Wally were supposedly pieces that the Warriors turned down in the Jackson trade. Cleveland did want GSW to buy out Z so he could return to the Cavs as a FA later in the season.

I doubt that Z has a no trade clause in his contract. Perhaps he would just retire once he got to Charlotte, but that would still save the 'Cats money.

I was also of the understanding that TMac was "close" to being healthy. Now, I am making the assumption that he could play if he wanted to, but is too pouty about not being on a title contender. Also, I think the Cavs DO care about cap room, because they're a business and I don't think this trade would negatively affect their team's performance.

All that said, I don't think that my trade is a great idea, but instead a trade scenario similar to the first one that could actually work. (It's more for conversation.)
If Chandler can get healthy enough to play 20 minutes a game with the second unit when Nazr's out and just clean glass, then the 'Cats can stand pat. Or trade DJ/Law for a big body and sign AI to even out the roster a bit.

Yeah I agree, I do not think he actually had a no trade clause in his contract. But I just recall him saying that in an interview. But who knows, he may have just said that because they brought in Shaq and his minutes were getting fewer.

I do agree maybe we should look to trade dj/law for a PF. We need a banger down low and if we can bring in AI, slide Felts to the bench and get chandler healthy and teach him how to play ( which he stated he never had a coach to actually teach him anything) we would be playoff bound.

The lineup of Jax, Wallace, AI, Chandler and Diaw ( or another 4) thats solid. Hell I would even be happy the way flip is playing to bench Diaw and let murray make it to the starting 5. Our size really would not be that bad length wise, but without a solid banger in the post we want make it far.
