Great move by UPS. Good for him to get some attention like that.

I hope he finally gets at least 20minutes per game.

He was and will continue to be the steal of that draft...I look forward to him here for a long time.....

I see no reason why he wouldn't see a lot of time as the back-up power forward.

Plus with Larry trimming everyone's minutes, he'll get time for sure.

dejuan blair was the steal of the draft. if we could have moved up to take him, he would be our starting pf

Yeah agree there. Blair is a beast. Still can't believe they let him slip out of the 1st round.

Yeah, but at least we got the second best steal. Right???

Blair won't be a steal in 3 years when his knees completely give out and he washes out of the NBA

absolutely, it is our 1 really good draft pick. we stupidly traded the other to phoenix.

that is the risk with him. although i think he might last awhile, his game doesn't revolve around his explosiveness. he uses body position and spider man reach to get boards.

I'd rather have Brown. I cant imagine Blair ever averaging more than 9 points and 5 rebounds.

I didn't really pay much attention to Blair. Sure the guy was averaging 15/12 per game which is impressive, but I don't think he'll be around for too long. I expect for him to improve, become a double double threat in the next two years and then the Spurs would sign him to a big fat contract. When that happens, one of his knees will blow out. After that, he'll have to go get a knee recon. After the knee recon. he would have to have rehab, and after rehab he'll probably get out on the court again for another 3-4 months before his other knee blows out.

And so it will continue. NBA analysts would think that Blair would be the steal of the draft...but we all know better.

On a side note, good on UPS to get us some attention and to make it onto a highlight reel.\

@Chef

No matter what, you'll still get wear and tear on your knees jumping. You start to wear out the cartilage from your knee joints due to them always rubbing against each other. That's why a knee recon. is always lengthy. It's a bad joint to injure, and it was smart for the teams to pass on him. Once you have knee surgery, you'll always have a problem

I don't even know if he CAN have reconstructive surgery anymore. He's had so many that he's had to get both ACL's removed.

Anybody see the SouthPark episode where Kyle got a negroplasty and got Mr. Garrison's testicles put in his knees to make him taller? His knees exploded and he was done. Same case with Blair, except he has regular knees lol

Do you know how many knee recons he's had?

Also, for those who are interested about Blair's injuries, I'll post the following from http://www.pistonpowered.com/2009/06/a-doctor-weighs-in-on-dejuan-blair-and-austin-dayes-medical-histories/

If you don't want to know, skip the rest of this post.

Some background from Kevin Arnovitz of TrueHoop (http://myespn.go.com/blogs/truehoop/0-41-151/The-Upside-of-Falling-Down.html):

In high school, Blair tore both of his ACLs and had them surgically repaired. Blair’s scar tissue essentially got re-absorbed by his body and the result left Blair with essentially no ACLs.
Although he’s suffered no adverse effects ever since, Blair’s is an unprecedented injury and one that scared off a slew of NBA executives. Though Blair literally has no ACL to tear, some team physicians feel that Blair could eventually develop a nagging issue that could wear him down a few years down the road.
Here’s Dr. Wedro’s assessment:

The ACL’s job is to be one of the knee stabilizers in the anterior-posterior direction, that is preventing the tibia or shin bone from sliding frontwards or backwards in relation to the femur or thigh bone. This is especially important in quick stops and starts. If there is no ACL, then the quadricpes and hamstring muscles need to take over the stabilization role. Good knee stability should be able to be maintained as long as the quads and hams remain strong and in balance.
There are examples of pro athletes who have played with absent ACLs including Philip Rivers in a playoff game for the Chargers. Marty Barrett played with the Red Sox without an ACL and I presume that there are many atheltes who did not know of the injury or chose not to disclose it for fear of cutting their career short.

---

If so, I am so glad we passed on him. Even though there are people who play without ACL's, I find that that by continuing to play basketball, you'll blow out your knees by constant rubbing due to the absence of the ACL. Thus, even if Blair lasts for 10+ years, he'll be paying for it for the rest of his life.

So... people would want to have an even smaller PF than Boris? Blair's strength is his rebounding and not his scoring, which is what this team needs.

WarioVsMooChicken

Brown is better than Blair at EVERYTHING besides rebounding and maybe post defence. Brown also has a lot more potential and will probably be in the league longer... not to mention we're doing pretty damn well at rebounding, we need more scoring and just overall hustle, which Brown brings.

And I wrong for thinking Brown might be a better option later in the season then Diaw. Diaw still passes would he should be shooting the ball and turns the ball over alot.

What I like most about UPS is every game I've seen him play he has a highlight worthy dunk on someone. In his first game ever in the NBA his first points came on a one hand dunk on some random Cav's player.

He has a nice jumper, Good use of both hands in the post, He's just full of potential and unlike Lexy, He can play now!!!
