The murder of Shaniya Davis near Fayetteville has been all over the news the past few weeks. An inconcievably terrible occurance, without question. Shaquille O'Neal stepped up to pay for her funeral. ESPN's article is here (http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/news/story?id=4691565). That's a real nice thing to do with all that money that Shaq makes. Not that he needs it or even wants it, but I wonder if there might be some recognition for his generosity at the game tomorrow.

Also, Happy Thanksgiving to everybody at BCP! Hope you're spending it with great people.

That little girl was killed in the town right next to me. I drive down the street she was found on from time to time. It's a really messed up story. I have gained more respect for the Big Shaqtus for doing that.

Yeah, I understand how anyone could ever do that to a child, let alone your own daughter. And the poor father was a victim too.

Say what you want about Shaq, but you can't deny the man's heart: this isn't the first time Shaq's done something like this...I remember a few years ago when early-NBA great George Mikan passed away and there was a lot of news about his family struggling to pay medical bills and the funeral costs. That night at the end of the game he was in, Shaq was interviewed on the court: he pretty much ignored the question asked of him and said, "I would like the family of George Mikan to know that I'm going to pay all funeral costs and pay off all medical bills...without George Mikan, there would be no Shaq" and he walked away. I was like WOW...

Was anyone at the game tonight? If so, was there any recognition of Deputy Shaq's generosity?

Either way, you know Shaq didn't do it for the applause, but it'd be a nice way to thank the man.
