Interesting comments today on Sean May in the ESPN NBA Rumors section:The Kings signed Sean May (http://sports.espn.go.com/nba/players/profile?playerId=2776) to the league minimum this offseason, and early on it looked like a good move.
May had a good preseason, and he started the first four games of the season for the team. But he hasn't even played in nine of the team's last 11 games. He's virtually disappeared.
So what gives? For one, coach Paul Westphal wants him to lose some more weight, an area May has struggled with in his career when injuries have sidelined him.
"He can still go 10 more pounds; I would like to see that," Westphal told the Indianapolis Star (http://www.indystar.com/article/20091203/SPORTS04/912030450/1088/SPORTS04). "He's worked hard and he hasn't solidified his role with us, but I think he's taking real big steps in salvaging his career."
May also thinks he is pressing too much when he actually gets in a game.
"A lot of times coming off the bench when you're playing four or five minutes here or there, you feel pressed and you try to make things happen right away because that's a role of a bench player," he told the paper.
"That's what I'm struggling with right now. I'll deal with it as the season goes along and I'll be fine."
