http://www.philly.com/philly/blogs/deep-sixer/Brand_not_happy.html

I have read here and elsewhere Philly is trying to trade Brand. Knowing that Larry can get the most out of 'over the hill' or 'out of their prime' players (ie Diaw, Bell, Nazr) i think he will produce great here.

Diaw is hurt, needs some time to put things together. I say we trade for Brand and have Diaw play a sixth man role, where he can contribute more and heal faster with less stress on him. Philly wants to trade Brand as bad as Golden State wanted to trade Jackson. I say we take Brand.

My idea:
Diop - DJ - Lexxxy for Elton Brand and a 2nd round pick.

Philly needs DJ, Iverson is a 1 year rental, nothing more than a short term solution. Louis Williams needs somebody who can play in tangent with him, and DJ will be that guy. He would benifit them greatly. Diop would be their reserve center, and to my knowledge they dont have one as of now. Lexy would just be filler and a way to burn our bridges with him now. In his prime, Lexy will be a solid rotation player. That may be good, but not good enough. Maybe Eddie Jordan will get more out of him than Larry did.

If this happened it will be a win-win.
Tyson-Brand-Wallace-Jackson-Felton with a Nazr-Diaw-Flip-UPS-Acie Law-Stephen Graham-Henderson bench would be a top 5 team in the east, maybe even a contender.

Can you dig it?

I can dig it! I've always liked Brand especially being a Duke fan. Anyways I'm trying to get myself to actually weigh in instead of just single sentencing it but honestly I'm just too goddamned stoned and lazy.

I like Brand and the idea of having him, but his contract is terrible. Even if we could do diop and AC Law straight up it would be hard to pull the trigger on Brand. There is nothing worse then having somebody on your roster getting max money and not producing. If Brand returned to the form he had a few years ago that would be one thing.

We're stuck w/ Diop and I can't imagine a team taking on his contract for any reason. I remember his play in the playoff run w/ the Mavs a few years back but was it really worth this kind of dough?? Any trade idea involving Diop I really don't take seriously.

Look at Elton Brand's salary owed, his recent injury history and his stats for the last couple of years. Add in his age and I think you can take it seriously enough.

Hell of a gamble. If he doesn't recover you're talking Gana with about 2 1/2 times the salary.

No way Philly takes on Diop's awful contract and we dont need to take on Brand's contract. I would be pretty upset if they pulled the trigger on this

Also it is much easier to get a little bit better and become valuable when you have a contract more the size of Gana's. If he got in great shape and refined a few of the details of his game he could suddenly be a decent value. Look at what Naz has done. He played well when he first got here but he has also suddenly become money with the jumper when we need 2pts, and everybody thought his contract was terrible for a while. Plus Gana is still not that old and going into the years of his career when most tall guys have the best years of there career. It is hard to suddenly become worth a contract fitting a franchise player, even if you were a franchise player once. If he comes and doesn't do any better then he is doing now it sets the team back 3 or 4 years.
