Can anyone tell me what Flip was doing tonite? We have to be either showcasing him or Dj is on his way out the door. He looked bad playing the pg because all he did was look for his shot. He played better at the 2 than the 1. Maybe we are showcasing him instead of Dj. Playoff teams would probably go for him being that he can score and is only due about 2 mil. He can't be traded until after X Mas thou. Something has to give soon because I don't think Dj is going to take riding the pine that good.

Here's the AP story at Yahoo, but this tidbit is interesting (not Earth-shaking, mind you, but interesting nonetheless):
Bobcats G D.J. Augustin (http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/players/4471/;_ylt=AkB9hAJmYOfsjB2Jj0.uw.OQvLYF) didn’t play for the second straight game. “He hasn’t defended like he needs to defend. He hasn’t made shots. He hasn’t distributed the ball,” Brown said.
Well then. There you go.
playoffs...PLAYOFFS?

that's a pretty bold statement.. i don't see what Flip is doing any differently. "G Flip Murray is getting D.J. Augustin's minutes, despite experiencing a severe shooting slump. He's 13-of-50 from the field in his last six games and 1-of-10 from 3-point range in the same span".
i've always though that DJ is not a good ball distributor or defender. now that he's not making his shots, his value has dropped tremendously
i wonder whats the deal with Acie Law? Henderson needs to get more time

That's a very bold statement coming from LB the way Flip has been playing are you freaking kidding me here or what.I see no reason not to play Acie Law.....if DJ is not playing well, but playing Flip at the point befuddles me like nothing else because that he is not.

I'm confused as well. I mean, you know after he's been on the court a couple minutes whether Flip's going to have a good game or not...the last two have been definite "nots" yet he's logging minutes and DJ is getting DNPCDs. All this and Law is still inactive?!?!? No clue, but it leads one to believe the roster tinkering doesn't end with the Jack pick-up...

I'm glad Hendo got 20 minutes of burn for this game. Even though he didn't do too much (statwise), I loved his defensive presence, and his massive block was shweet.

Bobcats coach Larry Brown made it clear pre-game Saturday that he isn't going to regularly play three point guards just to keep everyone happy. That essentially means it's an either/or proposition between D.J. Augustin and Flip Murray as Raymond Felton's backup.
I think the one difference LB sees between Flip & DJ is that Flip isn't intimidated by the competition like DJ has been lately. If I remember right...in the first offensive play vs the Celtics when DJ came in he dribbled it up the court, went towards the baseline and lost it off his foot. Next play the guy he was guarding got by him and scored. The camera went to LB and you could see that "WTF" look on his face. If we hadn't gotten down so badly I don't know that DJ would have seen the court again that game.
DJ's playing scared for some reason...and it must be pretty bad if LB would rather go with Flip's chucking over him.
Since we signed Flip with the BAE does he have to give his permission to be traded?

We know DJ had a good Rookie season. He started slow his 2nd season. It just seems to me that showing confidence in him and letting him work his way thru it 15 min/game would be better than benching him and publicly humiliating him. Kid is young, and better have some toughness about him or this kind of thing can scar him and permanently affect his confidence.

That has always been LBs way...why he starts to grate on players...they get tired of seeing teammates treated this way...and wondering when it will be their turn...negative coaching only goes so far...but again...why would anyone be surprised that LB has to move his "dog and pony show" around every couple of years...
Guys...it is not like we did not know all of this before he got here...some folk just always want to believe that he has grown out of it...why should he...he keeps getting jobs...or at least has until now...

this is my biggest concern with dj and nervous that hendo and ups will be next. lb rides guys and for a young player, it can cause confidence problems and warp their overall play. i think dj is getting a raw deal and if he does get traded, we will see just how good he could've been here, on a different team. our current rooks are constantly getting buried on the pine and i really hope they get more burn as the year goes on.
One thing I admire about some (and I want to emphasize some) coaches in the NBA is their ability to develop players...particularly young players...it is why the draft is so important...and having a solid coaching staff is so important...and in our case...I think the only way we develop as a team is through the draft...
That said...LB is not particularly patient with young players...they make mistakes...hey...veteran players make mistakes...but for a team (particularly ours) to have any chance we have to develop these players...that is why I did not want LB hired...he has a poor track record in that regard...
I think for DJ, UPS, and Hendo it is going to be tough...the one thing (besides teaching and patience) that helps is consistency...and by that I mean: it is fine to be critical but you also have to give positive reinforcement...and consistent playing time (be it 5, 9, 12 minutes) would be positive reinforcement...
Yes...they will make mistakes...but they have to develop...but in the case of Lexy...that was just a sorry waste of a draft pick...these other three guys have "real" NBA talent that seems to wasted for lack of any consistent approach from our "coaching staff"...and I blame the entire staff...

Man I totally agree with you. For all the of the so called point guard greatness he creates I never heard anyone say it was fun to play for LB. He will be here maybe another year or so then bail. Its hard to be sucessful in a situation that you are not happy being in and I think that is a big part of the problem with DJ. He didn't even workout for the Bobcats so that alone told me he didn't want to come Charlotte. Every Pg Larry Brown worked with that he suppose to have turned into great were already at least seasoned NBA players. I'd like to see how successful first year pg's have been under LB.

Interesting post , The more i think about it the more i agree. The player development part. Though i disagree if devoloping Hendo , DJ , and UPS , is good and concluding Lexy is a waste,. Raw talent, Lexy, has as much as any of the other three.
Brown seems to have his dog house , DJ seems to be his newest dog, Lexy got shiped to the D league leaving the house vacant.
Developing talent seems to be a area Brown has trubble with . He seems to get discusted quickly wit young players. It could be a do or die playoff thing all so. Thair for he feels the presure im not sure . developing players might be secondary.
